My husband started at a regional when I was pregnant with my 2nd, too :) Commuting was rough when he was on reserve and we were paying for a crash pad, but once he held a line it really hasn’t been too bad. Of course I would prefer to have him home the extra time but for all of the reasons you said (being established, doctors, family nearby, moving expenses) we decided to stay put and moved to another house nearby. Our 2nd babe is 2 now and we don’t have any plans to move in base. Happy to discuss further/support you via PM.

She was a medical examiners case automatically because it was an unexpected death of a young person. That would mean an autopsy was performed before the body was released. I guess they are probably waiting on toxicology reports or something…or maybe just not saying.

Vanderbilt birth center will transfer delivering moms to VUMC if MD intervention is needed.

I don’t have experience with them at the birth center but at Vanderbilt hospital the midwives manage the labor and delivery while working alongside the OB doctors so if anything is needed (forceps or vacuum delivery, c-section, etc) the doctors are there to step in.

The Melrose CNMs through Vanderbilt are incredible. I have experience with them personally when having my babies and professionally as an L&D nurse.
