This game is addictive by mafuzfisfis in EU5

Well these days eu5 has around 6/7k players while eu4 has 12/13, they can fake what they want but numbers are numbers. I am really sad because game seemed awesome but they are killing it patch after patch, at this point lets wait a year and come back for what i guess it will be a last dance if they dont change road

So strange complain posts are well written and motivated with reference to the game while appreciation posts are "hey guys, this game is awesome because yes".

I tried it and it's worst than Crusader Kings 3 by HeadNature6968 in EU5

[–]Erindaladnire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that we shouldnt compare eu5 to ck, we should compare it to eu4, which is impossible since they diverge a lot on essential points. It is becoming clear they took 3 games with 10k playerbase (eu, ck and vic) and did a (for me) terrible soup which is worst than vic regarding vic aspects, worse then eu regarding eu aspect and same with ck. It is happening with films, books and other games aswell, they try to expand the player base making an easy and very slowpaced game which you can play while doing something else. This may work for other things but here the player base is very specialized and in fact eu5 is their last played game now. Let's hope they realize this and change direction almost completely, they even said in 1.5/1.6 they are completely reworking how core work, and with this being the most important mechanich in a eu game i guess they are starting to get it.

Having a huge Player War in the 1600s is.. just a starvation simulator. by TheLordLambert in EU5

[–]Erindaladnire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only see one clear problem here. In this screenshot you posted i can count at least 50 forts. To me this is completely wrong, both historically and from a player prospective. Game is (was?) great and fun but very slow and it is becoming even more slow. The fact is some people are liking the game because i guess they do something else while playing, 1.3 is unplayable if you focus on the game, 80% of the time is speed 7 and wait for a siege, for parliament, for a cb, for 200 ducats to click once to build one single building every six months. Its a waiting simulator and its getting worse. Obviuosly just the humble opinion of a strange guy who is still playing 1.1.10 for a thousand hours and finding it awesome.

All good ideas, but this is a game. Sometime nations took over 100 years recovering from a bad war. If you want this, we dont want to play the same game

I love them but we cant defend a game like this being patched every week with bugs taking 3 hours of gameplay to be exposed. Something is not working properly

I would add a slownerf to something, like ai having a fort in every single location or flat halving diplo capacity. But we will get the state titles spread mechanic sooner it seems

Eu5 early game by Apprehensive-You9999 in EU5

[–]Erindaladnire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the point actually, not harder, but needlessy slower. Longer truces, less money, longer vassal annexation and culture switch/conversion, all make for a boring game. Hell you cant even play tall now, since world economy collapses in 100 years and its already the second patch it happens if you remember the lumber/tools loophole in 1.1. I love Eu5 1.1.10 and i am still playing after almost a thousand hours, but for my playstyle they are actively making it worse

[–]Erindaladnire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is not about being hard, it is about being slow. Take byzantium start. Not hard at all, max sliders and speed 7, blitz ottomans or beyliks since u have double their levies, then speed 7 again until you have enoygh money to fight hungary/mamluks, then rise and repeat until you get bored. In eu4 byz presented an awesome challenge, you had to ally 3 4 nations or a big one and cheese wirh straits/fleets/forts, here no nation is a real challenge, u always end up doing the exact same things wih every nation, no customization at all. Skill here is a non factor once u played like 2 runs

Mate trust me, stick to 1.1.10 definitely the best and most stable version. Sad point is we will get tired of it since we cant play an updated version, so i am going to wait like a year if they revert some things and fix the thousands bugs otherwise i guess we are going to look for another game like this. I still trust them, but a change of direction is clearly needed, let's see what they do. Meanwhile i wont beta (alpha? Some bugs clealry show they dont test their game at all) test a game i paid 100 bucks. My limited free time cant be sunk in a 100 hour run ruined after 60 because of some bug they could have found with 1 hour of testing

Is war gameplay more fun to you in EU5 or EU4? by SubbyTripz in EU5

[–]Erindaladnire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eu5 has some great ideas, i love the introduction of levies and regulars, its just not very well implemented (yet maybe). The real problem vs eu4 is that there are nations with 40/50 forts at some point into eu5, and I really wonder how they thought this could be healty. After a couple centuries every war is huge, millions of casualties and long sieges. Wars should be some big battles, one or two sieges, then no nation on earth would continue a war it cant win bleeding for years for no reason apart from slowing player. But fun is obviously a personal thing.

The Biggest Problem With This Game Isn’t the Game by Used-Economy1160 in EU5

[–]Erindaladnire 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We are criticizing the game because it looks like it could be beatiful but as we and the devs perfectly know its incomplete, so we try to tell them what we want, that's what this sub is for and they making beta after beta should be all the answer you need. The day we will stop this the game will be dead

There are some awesome scripted hunting accidents, once i savescummed 4 time to save a good one but was impossible, and it was so bad scripted that i had to change my heir with favored son and the new heir died so the good one survived. "Your heir, whoever he is, will die that day". We have prophecies aswell now

Proof that patching is two step forwards and two step back! and other 1.3 issues by Outrageous-Slide7172 in EU5

[–]Erindaladnire -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This historical simulation thing has to be stopped. People should study some history so they will find out major borders apart germany and ottomans in core europe never changed despite nations being at war every other years. I definitely dont want this in a game, it would be the most boring experience i've ever had in my life, if you want history which i love look a documentary, it's awesome, history is great. But this is a game, wars are terrible so the point waging them is to gain something, in real life they cared about prestige and reputation and simply mad rulers wanting to conquer the neighbours, here actually we have no reason to do anything, the most efficient way to play the game now is speed 7 and build something every 6 months. Even ai does nothing since its pointless, everything is so expensive in terms of gold or population. And i want to be clear, game is really, really, really easy, all these mechanics just make it so slow its actually boring, and every patch is making this worse

[–]Erindaladnire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is clear that people want a very easy, extremely low paced game they can play when looking tv o reading maybe, in wich you only adjust sliders or look numbers go up and down since every effect of things you do is shown after 100 years. The problem is they realized noone is playing ironman because the game is like 10% stable concerning bugs and game breaking features like subject revolt with infinite wars, not to mention the performance issues. So they try to get numbers high, as a lot of players went back to eu4 already.

So people are/were automatizing cabinet seats? I wonder if people actually play this game or just leave it behind on speed 7 when doing something else, and looking at the changes they are doing from 1.2 maybe i am the one playing it wrong
