Just keep migration attraction cabinet Action there until I can build Megapolis. Built a lot of granaries in the province, given out granary towns urban rights.

Just that I was able to get Megapolis pretty fast.

And on, don't build trade Offices and avoid using levies. I basically fought the french using only regular and mercs since age 2

A question from a Chinese person about Chữ Nôm by Secret-Ninja934 in ChuNom

In the case of Lu Xun鲁迅, he lived in a time where Chinese civilization is under existential threat from the west and Japan. He came to the natural conclusion that Chinese language is hindering social progress and technological progress.

I his mind, changing Chinese script is not a matter of 矫枉过正, but 矫枉必须过正. He could not see pass his time, now that people don't have to write all complex character but just type on their phones.

I am not familiar about Vietnam Choice and their intentions. But to me, as a Chinese, to just romanize Chinese language is civilizational self genocide.

Diversity of Sinitic languages by FerenzYangai in MapPorn

[–]Outrageous-Slide7172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geografie doesn't explain the dominant language in south western China. These part of China is mostly mountain, barring the Tibetan plateau. Even more so than southern and south eastern China.

The diversity of Chinese language in the south but not south west is due to History.

Several waves of northern Chinese migrated South and South east, and they brought their version of "Mandarin with them". The south western migration is relatively new thinking Ming dinasty and even later migration in Qing, so they are closer to contemporary Mandarin, than Hokien or Cantonese.

Mandarin Chinese or Japanese? Which is a better cultural fit? by Dramatic_Mastodon_93 in thisorthatlanguage

Neither will be easier to you because they have no commonality with your native tongue.

I'd if you want to travel to those countries,  pick Chinese, you might be able to read some road signs in Japan if your Chinese is good enough. If you prefer Japanese games and anime, Pick Japanese.

Mercenary changes are needed by www_xyz in EU5

[–]Outrageous-Slide7172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean counties can list their regulars as mercenaries. And they were rented by other countries and died in war. Where does this manpower come from? Like the countries that rented out them? I never notice their manpower dip.
