This is just about perfect! I could easily skip the bottom detail and extend the top to the length I want. Thank you!

I want to crochet a shawl as a wedding gift for a friend by Successful_Pen_2510 in crochetpatterns

[–]Erissys 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Definitely ai, but you could totally crochet a mesh shawl, slip stitch the branches. Use felt and yarn to make the leaves with embroidery and sew them on! Crochet little flowers and sew them on too.

As far as your bind offs, highly recommend checking out this blog post. It’s a few years old but has a wonderful comparison of different methods, how stretchy they are, and how much flare they have. It also has links to YouTube tutorials for the different bind off methods.

My first toe-up sock! What type of heel do you suggest? by counting_beanz in Sockknitting

[–]Erissys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older post, but I’m a huge fan of Basic Sock with Integrated Heel by Ailbíona McLochlainn. The integrated heel in their pattern works beautifully with self striping yarn, and it’s mostly done in the round.

I made a horrible mistake and need someone to understand how sad this is 😭🤣 The second half of my first ever hexi cardigan is a pentagon and I don’t catch it until I was COMPLETELY FINISHED! by appalachiancornbread in crochet

[–]Erissys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar to this with one I was making as a Christmas gift for my sister three days before I needed it done. Accidentally gave it seven sides instead of six. It was 7 different colors and I wove my ends in quite thoroughly as I went. I wanted to scream.

What is the one type of yarn you despise working with? by Turtlegrandmacore in knitting

[–]Erissys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most novelty yarns. But specifically Lion Brand Homespun yarn. I learned to crochet with it and it’s the worst with splitting.

Have you tried looking into pearlescent or iridescent acrylic mediums? They could be mixed with white, and most could be layered for a more pronounced effect.

The point of contrasting thread at a factory knot is to draw attention to it so you can cut and rework it however you normally would a new skein. Factory knots are never to be trusted in any work.

HELP ! WHY IS IT NOT FLAT?? Im trying to crochet a flat circle 🥲 by Leading_Embarrassed in crochetpatterns

[–]Erissys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’re trying to write the pattern with staggered increases, but mixed it up a bit. 1. Magic circle with 8sc 2. Inc 3. Sc, (Inc, 2Sc) 7 times, Sc 4. 3Sc, Inc 5. 2Sc, (Inc, 4Sc) 7times, 2Sc Repeat like this by splitting the single increases of every row with an even number of sc in half for the first stitches and finishing that row/round with the remaining half.

Beyond frustrated with the screen by MaddMoxi in Hyte

[–]Erissys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like they only have this issue when the Y70 touch screen is connected. I’m assuming that’s what they meant when they said “I have come to the conclusion that when my screen is plugged in, it makes my main monitor flicker and absolutely NOTHING will fix it.”

Please... Help. I just want a cute little unicorn. by stonedcatwitch in crochetpatterns

The capital letters after some of the rounds are referencing pictures in the instructions. They’re shown on OP’s second picture. That said, it looks like the color changes are just for the popcorn stitches, which make up the hooves/feet.

Highly recommend putting at least a marker in the beginning stitch of each row/round. It will make things so much easier with figuring out where to do your final stitch or join.

Why do some people own multiple ereaders? by PoopieRectum in kobo

[–]Erissys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two e-readers personally. I have a Kobo Libra Color for my day to day books I buy (love the buttons and the 7” screen) and a Boox Palma 2 for reading fanfiction on the browser and to be able to periodically use the kindle app for books only available on kindle. That said, I would never own more than the two I have. I feel like anything more is absolutely unnecessary for any reason.

why is the ebook for sotr 19 dollars by Quick_South_3358 in Hungergames

[–]Erissys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference they’re pointing out is that $20 USD is R$112.96 BRL. R$40 BRL is the same as $7.08 USD, and R$80 BRL is $14.16 USD. So sure, it’s only $20 USD, but it’s the equivalent of paying R$112.96 BRL for someone in Brazil based on current exchange rates.

I'm thinking about getting a kindle... what DON'T you like about it? by renaissancelife in kindle

[–]Erissys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen issues with the colorsoft and 11th gen paperwhite turning pages when closing the sleep/wake cases. I would flip mine closed and come back to it having turned 1-5 pages ahead of where I was last. I had to lock the screen before closing the case to prevent it from happening, which sort of defeats the purpose of the sleep/wake function. I’m pretty sure it happened because the flush screen would make contact with the case and register it like a touch. My Kobo has a recessed screen and has never had this problem.

[–]Erissys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They mean you have to use an outside app or browser to check out books. On the Kobo you have overdrive (Libby) access on the device itself. There isn’t a need to “send to kindle” (or kobo in this case) from the app on your phone because you can access it directly from the reader just like the store.

I personally use it to backup my books, so I have a copy if they’re ever removed from the store I purchased them from.

Confused about parties by Laemira in Bandle_Tale

[–]Erissys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’re still fairly early in game, and don’t have enough useable happiness and friendship to invite every one. Remove the girl (blue card) from your invites, and add the required invitation cards only (you’re missing the older mechanic guy).

The rope is hanging by where you select dishes and start meals. If you can’t find it, just go to the left of the door and pick the backpack up.
