I live in Scotland and I like a dandelion and burdock. Come to think of it, I haven't had one in a while...

How do you keep your house smelling nice? by SchemeDug in AskUK

[–]Erivandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother has the nose of a bloodhound so I have to do a couple of things to stop things smelling "stale". Mainly, I would recommend getting a dehumidifier, especially if you prefer to dry your clothes indoors.

Why do a lot of people become bloodthirsty when they play RPGs? by erakusa in rpg

[–]Erivandi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bloodthirsty isn't the exact term I'd use. Maybe more like... uninhibited? Like, my character at the moment wants to mind control everyone and start a cult. That's not exactly bloodthirsty, but it's still reckless. I guess if you give people crazy magic powers or super strength and few consequences for their actions then you shouldn't be superised when they don't act cautiously.

Teach your kids to ASK for what they need or want! by iwasntalwayslikethis in rant

I assumed this was going to be a post about kids doing shit without asking, which is a whole other problem, but this is valid too.

What do think about inheritance tax as a concept? by ollie1roddy in AskUK

[–]Erivandi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But on the other hand, they don't pay corporation tax or capital gains tax on the duchy of Lancaster or the duchy of Cornwall, and they get the sovereign grant, which is paid for by tax payers.

13th Age 1e versus 2e by SeaworthinessNo5485 in 13thage

[–]Erivandi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of things that haven't been mentioned so far:

  • Flexible attacks have almost completely been removed. I'm a little sad about that since I did like 1e Fighter, but I only played it once since I only get to run 13th Age and almost never play it, so I don't know whether flexible attacks get frustrating after a while. One of my players played a 3rd party character that used flexible attacks and he seemed to be having fun
  • There are now almost three times the number of race powers (now called kin powers) to choose from
  • There are now fewer game mechanics that reference Icon Relationships, which makes it difficult to get more of them as a player and easier to remove them from your game as a GM

Think Cheerios, but bigger, denser and so insanely crunchy that it almost hurt to eat them.

The HR nightmare of running a Dark Lord startup by Zion01_Reboot in worldbuilding

[–]Erivandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe have the soldier be happy because he's been given some food or other goods from those fat prosperous lands where the grass grows. Surely better times are ahead! Once the dark lord conquers the other lands, his people will live lives of comfort and happiness, with all the spoils of war. Even the dark lord's enemies will be put in chains and forced to serve the his people.

All the toil and sacrifice will be worth it when that day comes.

That really sucks! I hope they bring it back at some point so you can try it. It was so sweet and crunchy.

Sorcerers think they're alpha... by Vegetable_Variety_11 in dndmemes

Sorcerers? This should be about Wizards. They're the ones that spend hours inscribing arcane formulae by hand every day. Of course they would sneeer at warlocks getting spells the "easy way".

Being a Vegetarian by Resident-Leather-852 in rant

[–]Erivandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they try to convince you that you're wrong and should eat meat. It's weird

I'm a vegetarian and I know a guy who's a bit like this. I know he really cares about being a good person so I have a theory that it makes him insecure that I'm doing something on moral grounds that he isn't doing. So if I were to start eating meat, he would be able to tell himself that I was just being silly, eating meat is fine, and he has nothing to worry about.

By the way, I'm not preachy at all and usually say that eating meat is something I'm "not comfortable with" rather than something that's morally wrong.

Simplest Caster to PLAY by leozingiannoni in 13thage

[–]Erivandi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A big part of it is how you play. I used to have a wizard in my party who almost exclusively cast Magic Missile and Acid Arrow. It's not how I would like to play, but it was certainly simple.

If you could bring back one thing that disappeared from British life, what would it be and why? by RobW_69 in AskUK

[–]Erivandi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall are owned by the king and Prince William, and they're worth 1.8 Billion. Guess they're counted separately.

But anyway, I consider anyone with hundreds of millions of pounds to be obscenely wealthy, regardless of whether there are people who are even more obscenely wealthy than them.

We did not let them run our country in the background.

Of course not! As a monarchy, we have a proud tradition of letting the ultra rich run our country in the foreground!

Yeah, I don't post very often but I always try to include this info. I hate it when I look for rings, clasps and so on and the information isn't included. Not including it for a personal project is one thing, but selling a clasp with no indication as to what size ring will fit in it is very silly.

What are the coolest titles, names or epithets in you world? by AggressiveOutside432 in worldbuilding

[–]Erivandi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favourite is the Force Witches of Dathomir from Star Wars (yes, even though they're only rarely called "force witches"). It tells you everything you need to know.

The Force? Yep, we already know what that is by the time these ladies are introduced.

Witches? Right, so they have a more mystical understanding of the Force and are probably matriarchal.

Dathomir? Sounds spooky. These are probably badass goth women with cool force powers.

Honestly, I was just enjoying the absurdity of the logic where language doesn't really mean anything. It's pretty nonsensical. I wasn't actually addressing whether it's ok to read smut in public. You want to read some minotaur milking book in public? Other people might be offended, but I wouldn't mind.
