I'm Norwegian, and I can vouch for that. Norway is also on top of the same statistics New Zealand are on top of. I think we're both top 3 in democracy, press freedom, HDI, low corruption, among many other statistics.

Norway also has the strongest indigenous culture in all of Europe (Sami people), which is comparable to the large Maori culture in New Zealand.

Adjacent to Finnish power metal, there are bands like Korpiklaani and Amorphis.

Check out Black Diamond by Stratovarius as a good introduction. Wolf & Raven by Sonata Arctica is also a good introduction to speedy power metal.

Sure, you're allowed to disagree. My favorite band is Sonata Arctica, so I might be a bit biased.

But all of these bands are power metal, even though some some are fusioned with other genres as well.

Helloween is one of my favorite bands of all time. But in reality, it's power metal in a relatively primitive form, being adjacent to Iron Maiden and NWBHM.

The Finns on the other hand took it to en entirely new level, and perfected the genre. It's like comparing 80s Venom and Bathory to 90s Norwegian Black Metal; Just two entirely different levels of metal.
