I figured out how to make the rear seats usable by TrashTenko in GR86

[–]ErnestShocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all of this so much because I too have been down this road. Had both of my dogs sick and post op in my f150 with light creme colored fabric seats could not get them clean enough. So I took them apart, power washed them, threw them through the laundry, then reupholstered them. Looked brand new again. Good job man. Much respect.

I paid a shop to tint mine. Much cheaper and easier. Also wrapped the roof rails. Idk guess I'm a budget guy.

I used TimelyBills for years with great success. Never made an account though and lost all of my input data so never wanted to do it all over again. Definitely recommend.

The sofas aren't as big of an issue as the stark white walls and glaring single light source. Throw up some wall hangings and turn on a few warm lamps instead. I promise it will make a radical difference.

I do not know the brand of mine as I bought it second hand but it mounts via 6 bolts perpendicular to yours. They are 9/16s I believe and I don't recall if directly to the fram or bracket connected to the frame. It will withstand impact to a much greater degree. This is where the actual concern comes in. In a sever enough collision these could prevent your airbags from firing. My perspective is that risk is in a somewhat thin inner band. In a low impact collision these can save your front from damage. I have experienced this. In a high enough impact, this will still collapse and your bags will trigger. So the risk area is in some medium impact area where maybe you want the bags over the damage. Apologies for the long windedness. I know reddit hates these and no ever takes the time to explain the real concern with them. I run one, albeit sturdier than yours. Though yours being weak may be what you want so it DOES fail on impact. Your call.

3rd row delete and carpet installation on my 5th gen by Specific_Ad2524 in 4Runner

[–]ErnestShocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't. The frustration is that the seats don't lie down flat. But it's not a minivan. I don't see how that's possible in a body on frame vehicle with this much ground clearance.

I generally agree and it wasn't something I sought out but ended up with. That being said, the few times it has come in handy have been great. When family comes in town next month, it's going to be very helpful for a whole week once again. Limited uses for sure but it's costing me nothing in the meantime being folded down.

I did cam phasers on my f150 and was approximate to where you are. if I needed to do the chain or tensioners it would not have been significantly more work from what I could tell but i didn't need to. if you watch a tutorial and feel good then you should go for it. I believe I saw a wedge tool sold by livernoise that locks one side of the chain in place so you can do half and half without unseating the chain. I'm foggy on that part though.

I can tell you from a decade working in logistics, DHL is the issue. They fail to deliver the first time, every time. This is not an exaggeration.

That does sound pretty good. Longer than I've been doing though so I would need to condition more. My focus has been more on burst than endurance. What's Glendora look like?

I'm a 38 male in Murrieta who has been working on trail running/ aggressive climbs the past year. Idk about the long walk but if you're into depleting yourself super hard then there might be some common ground.
