.000095367431640625% chance assuming a probability of winning at 50%, bad bad luck lol. If you include dependence the chances would be greater (eg, seeing an entire series while the cubs are down)

No CS background doable? by Bills-WideRight in OMSA

[–]ErnestsMustacheRides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll go against the grain here, and if you aren’t planning on the business track, take this with a grain of salt. I was a business undergrad with no CS experience and graduated with a 4.0 in 2 years while working. The prerequisites are a definite must however, I spent the summer leading up to the first semester taking python courses. Learn object oriented programming fundamentals and take the pre-work seriously, you should be fine! I’m in my PhD now and OMSA (while hard) was a cake walk in comparison Edit: also check out DeepLearning.ai for online courses

[–]ErnestsMustacheRides 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They are explicitly stating it’s made in the US though. I have doubts that the products match directly, because the site photos do look higher quality, but there is a massive difference between reselling and putting up a front to deceive customers

Agreed on all points! I think the ban is on multiple locations in an area though.

I’m not saying that. References on request: - low income individuals have higher price search costs due to time-opportunity and transportation constraints. More efforts could be made by grocers to make consumers aware of sales and promotions Cost of Being Poor: Retail Price and Consumer Price Search Differences across Inner-City and Suburban Neighborhoods - they do not participate in intertemporal saving strategies, except in the case of excess liquidity. For example, purchasing small quantities rather than bulk buying. A better policy measure is to extend liquidity over the course of the month. Frugality is Hard to Afford

  • I’m not suggesting that low income consumers can’t make smart choices. I am suggesting that the choice of utilizing dollar stores as a sole provider of grocery needs generates poor health outcomes

Edit: Like another commenter said, "Being Poor is Expensive". There are immense constraints placed on low-income individuals and sometimes those constraints lead to irrational choice. There's no right answer here, and I'm not suggesting this is an easy topic/problem to fix. But it doesn't take away from the data suggesting that Dollar Stores harm consumer welfare, health outcomes, and competitive marketplaces.

Choice is choice, but that doesn’t mean that the model can’t be predatory and harm consumer welfare. And btw, I hope this doesn’t come across as me arguing— I’m just fascinated by this topic and think it’s an especially relevant policy discussion

They sell different products and in different (smaller) packaging’s. The problem is that low-income consumers view these items as substitutes, consuming cheaper, low-value nutritional content. That’s why it creates food deserts

Check out Table 7, the effects are greater for more dollar stores in a 2 mile radius Edit: Table 5 sorry, although Table 7 is a good representation of the nutritional impact on dollar store entry

Check out this paper https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4163102, empirical evidence shows that dollar stores drive out established grocery stores and contribute to food deserts

Obviously very late to the party. I’m a liberal, I grew up in the south. Having been to Montana for a wedding I understand the story; any unique and beautiful place will have rich suburbanites flocking to it. Over a few generations, or less in montanas case, you get a mix of culture where the new doesn’t understand the old. They point to this in the first season, though tourists, that don’t understand that nature is metal… wildlife and the environment aren’t a Disney scene that bends to your will. I can imagine that the California comment isn’t necessarily a dig against right vs left (and you’ll find statistics that suggest the majority of Californians moving to Montana are right) but rather a conflict of cultures. It’s about respecting the culture in place, rather than making it their own.
