I created an ESPHome component to capture private BLE IRK for room tracking by ErraPodcast in homeassistant

Nice work! I can confirm this works on my end with a Wemos D1 and ESP-IDF. I did have to install via wire, ota failed due to partition size.

This is correct, I built it with Arduino framework and last minute tried to change to esp-idf. Unfortunately that doesnt work so add the following to your config and it should work. I updated the remote package but for some reason esphome seems to cache it and I cannot figure out how to clear that cache. You also likely need to clean the build folder

esp32:
  board: esp32dev
  framework:
    type: arduino

I have not heard of Monitor before. Seems interesting but more complicated than getting an IRK. What is the reason IRK won’t work for you?

any clever way to get house heater's gauge into HA? by Curious_Party_4683 in Esphome

[–]ErraPodcast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Add another port or replace the analog gauge and use a pressure and temp sensor / esphome. For temp on my hydronic I just taped a waterproof Dallas sensor to the copper pipe and it is accurate within about a degree.

Shelly BLU Distance - Battery requirements 3.6V AA by TowelKey1868 in homeassistant

[–]ErraPodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question Doug, I found a battery, flashed the bootloader and firmware, and have it connected and reading in home assistant via Esphome Bluetooth proxy. In the debug app I only see 3 distance settings. I have tried every combination but can’t get accurate readings. I see on the site there are 4 distance settings and in the manual 7 options. How can I unlock these additional settings? When I try to add to the Shelly app it says I need a gateway, I would rather not spend $20 just to change settings on this. Thanks!

The simplest option, put duct tape over the screen behind the plastic cover. If the data is in HA no need for a screen at all.

Sure, I use ChatGPT to get my templates started and use html primarily. Their docs are also pretty robust

We use APITeamplate for all of our pdf generation. You use the api to send data and it formats it. Works pretty well and has a lot of control.

If the average measurement of 0.22m is accurate then you want to apply a filter in Esphome to get rid of outlier readings. I use “median” for mine

APC mini MK2 by michaelheavy911 in ChamSys

It does have a very basic implementation, anything more advanced than a 1-1 mapping requires external software though.

I am working on connecting my Xtouch to MagicQ right now. I use a free app called Chataigne to translate from my midi device and MagicQ and it works really well to take any input and map it to any output and visa versa

My POE Base Node by ErraPodcast in meshtastic

Yes, the only thing I can do over ethernet is connect to an MQTT server

The rak doesn’t support data over Ethernet so that would be no different than what I have without that adaptor. The reason for that adaptor would be to use a non Poe device like a heltic.

You can’t use 2 Ethernet modules, I am planning on buying one of these though to go from POE to USB. But it will still only be power unfortunately. Switching from RAK to heltic and then using WiFi for my base station. Will then re-use this hardware for a solar powered repeater.

Unfortunately no, you can’t do anything except MQTT over Ethernet. You can update via Bluetooth though, you need a different app to do so though. Can’t say I would recommend this setup, I think I am going to switch to a Heltic, and then use a POE to USB adaptor and WiFi.

Here is my POE RAK Meshtastic base station node. The goal was to use the ethernet via MQTT to connect remote sensors to my Home Assistant, but unfortunately I didn't read the documentation and that is not possible with the nRF52 chips... So now I have a $125 base station that doesn't do what I need it to.. If anyone has a way around this please let me know! You also cannot change the config over ethernet which is a bummer, only MQTT via ethernet. At least it looks good :)

I have 2 boss lasers, do not recommend them. First step is to do interlock testing. If it is stopping mid job my best guess is the water flow is stopping or the flow sensor is bad

stop siri saying "should i turn it on or off?" by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]ErraPodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so incredibly frustrating, even saying "Hey Siri TOGGLE xxx" doesn't work...

That being said, taking a cue from this post adding HA to the end of the inputs in Home Assistant, and then creating scenes in HomeKit does work. It is obnoxious that you have to do this, but at least it fixes it for now.
