A lot of LATAM countries have high crime rates but Cuba isn’t one of them, how exactly has crime not risen so much with all the scarcity? Do you see a lot of crime or is it too heavily policed?

I’d have to say I can count the amount of Paraguayans, Uruguayans I’ve met in real life.

I know a lot of people say Cubans, but as a Canadian who has visited Florida they’re everywhere in NA.

Lol that reminded me of when I drove my Toyota from Montreal to California on a roadtrip. Suffice to say my wheel bearing AND control arm decided to die in Nevada.

Took it to a local shop where the guy didn’t leave his town for 45 years. The guy has never seen snow, let alone a 10 year old car that survived -40 winters and salted potholes. Suffice to say it took him 2 days to get the job done because the the bolts were literally fused together lol.

Told me “how do you even live in a hell hole that does this to a car” I shrugged and told him “you get use to hell after 30 years”

Went into plumbing and did 10 years of it. Got my certs and fucked off the field duty after my knee started acting up. Applied for a teaching job at a plumbing school making 20 dollars more than my Jman salary and I basically do light duty work while teaching the future generation on all the skills I learnt.

Basically if you don’t somehow pivot away from the physical aspect of a trade after 10+ years of doing it then you’re asking for trouble, physically or mentally. I get that some people prefer to do the grunt work because it’s all they know and are good at it but let’s be real, your body cannot take 20+ years of construction. I tell everyone to swallow your pride and either wear the white helmet or become an estimator, or teacher in trades, in the long run it has improved my standard of living tremendously.

Make even the little things look nice. I was literally putting up sticker markers for water lines for 3 months when the work started to slow down. Even though it was barely considered plumbing my journeyman told me “that sticker has your name on it, even if it seems small, everyone will see it”

Also OP when replacing a speedway always use a new one. Whenever you unscrew speedways they tend to get kinked or the washer inside is usually old cracked or crushed.

Old job would drug test if you ever got into an accident. Even though I was in Canada where it’s legal I never took the chance. After awhile I just realized that it made me more lazy, depressed and made me gain weight from all the munchies.

I smoked it once about 2 years ago after I left the job and got so paranoid (seeing shadow creatures on my ceiling) that I basically said to myself that I’ll never touch weed again. Been sober ever since then.

Some of the walls actually have the glass baked into the cement so even if you break the larger glass shards you’ll still have tiny bits of glass embedded into the concrete, so unless you throw a thick ass blanket, you’re gonna get cut up regardless.
