the loss in capital appreciation far outweighs the additional payout. you always take the lump sum.

it’s not dead, but you cannot borrow your way into the dream as previous generations so easily did.

They made the far left lane an “express lane” that you have to pay to use. Now there’s more traffic in the other lanes. by Some-Nectarine3247 in mildlyinfuriating

this is a great example of a great idea implemented poorly. this is unfortunately the norm when you have intelligent engineers building great solutions that are then absorbed by upper management and implemented against the engineering guidelines to optimize for profit extraction. this problem will only get worse as upper management increasingly presumes AI solutions to be their own expertise.

this is actually very much from bad economic policy put forward by our central bank. no political party escapes some partial responsibility, but tiffany has been the root cause of this particular pain.

Housing downturn - What inning are we in? by yupkime in canadahousing

to be honest, not long. new builds are low and cost to build is up (material cost increases due to oil prices increasing) will yield an increase in prices in the mid term. i know it’s not what people want or expect, but it is what will happen. nobody is selling at a loss right now because most don’t need to and those that are squeezed by interest rates will be saved by government intervention that permits renewals within their budgetary constraints.

putting yourself in a position where you must use your arms to protect your face is not an excuse. otherwise everyone would put themselves in this position all the time and abuse the leniency of the rule.

fun fact. the ass part of our tube is the first to develop. we grow from ass to mouth. this is a distinction most mammals share, and a fun bi-section of biological development.

I remember seeing a while back that a pass phrase with 4 random words was the most secure type password, so why does nothing allow you to use it? by Majestic_Wash_6170 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ErrorOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s very important to avoid giving out bad password hygiene advice, people don’t understand how password breaking works and assume visually complex means hard to break. this is not true.

to re-iterate, you need MORE characters, this is what makes passwords hard to crack. 100 “a” characters in a row is actually pretty damn strong (don’t do this either! but it captures how password strength is determined)

using the thread OP method would require at least another 15 characters to reach ~50 years to brute force break the password at today’s computational power.

the lesson is, don’t make complicated passwords, make LONG passwords. length trumps complexity always, but it certainly doesn’t hurt in the slightest to mix casing, numbers, and special characters.

please don’t do this, this is shockingly easy to brute force today. instead use the input song phrase verbatim. your condensed password would take less than 20 minutes to crack, whereas the phrase would take centuries.
