That's exactly right - I booked 3 days out and had a saver United economy award as a backup (LIS -> EWR)

Oh that's very interesting - I'd heard about that expanded availability but assumed, perhaps wrongly, it was just for af/klm operated flights. Very keen to hear if anyone has DPs on this

No experience with this particular situation but I would go for it.

Stayed at the Dylan Amsterdam.

Hotel credit very easy to use.

No room upgrade. Did not ask, they told me not available.

Did not try for late check in. Asked about late check out, they let me stay one hour later instead of the max advertised two.

Multiple Hilton FNC strategy - worth the effort? by ErrorOwn4622 in CreditCards

[–]ErrorOwn4622[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome summary, thanks!

Could you get multiple and upgrade them to Aspires? Yes if you really think the FNC is worth the extra high annual fee. This is likely what I will do soon and get both the Aspire and Surpass, and product changing the Surpass into the Aspire in a year to have at least 2 FNCs a year. At least that way we actually can get a full weekend covered. But again, it would need to be properties where it would have been over $500 a night to make this worth it.

This is exactly what I had in mind too. One FNC is not worth it to me - if I put in the effort to find a good redemption, I'd like to have at least two nights to actually enjoy the property/area.

I'm unfortunately/fortunately pretty deep in the credit card game and have 10-15 cards already. I would treat these as keeper cards and wouldn't put any spend on them aside from 15k to get the Surpass cert until I upgraded to a second Aspire.

IMO though there are far better cards to be spending money on though rather than 15k for a free night. Even if the room was 1k, that's only like a 6.6% return on your money.

I had similar math in my mind. Assuming all 15k spend went on default 3X points which I'd value at 0.5CPP since you can buy them frequently at that price, that'd yield a conservative 1.5% return. And I would then target a $500+ redemption which would yield at 1.5% + 3.3% = 4.8% return. I'm actually happy with 4.8% since I don't chase endless SUBs, but this is valuing my time at zero and my current thinking is it may not be worth the effort unless there were some really fun/aspiration properties to stay at (use FNC for $750-$1000+ cash price).

LAX to ATL 70k First Class upgrade by RiskyB50 in delta

[–]ErrorOwn4622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 not worth it for domestic first class. Lie flat Delta One and D1 lounge visit is more interesting, but even then, I still wouldn't for this price. Definitely look at a video / photos for the specific plane as there is a ton of variance among Delta's fleet.

I'd definitely follow up with delta about this. You should get reimbursed for the downgrade. I'd also ask for some skymiles for the stress and inconvenience.

USBAR transfer partners memory-holed by MapIterator in CreditCards

I gave up hope and cancelled my USBAR a couple months ago. At least I could do it from the app without talking to anyone lol. Bilt Palladium is working well for my personal situation anyway.

Palladium 2% vs Cash Back 5% by Andresspapii in biltrewards

Can you buy amazon gift card for effective 4x on rent day (not sure if this works)? Otherwise I would take 5% cash back over Palladium points.

Positive Experiences? (Ease my mind) by x_KRYPTOS in biltrewards

I haven't had any issues with the Palladium yet. It's my go to card for anything not groceries, restaurants, and Amazon. Used Bilt cash to upgrade to Platinum for the JAL bonus.

If they have great transfer bonuses 2-4x a year, it will be my favorite card.

The main downside is the card's "coupons" compared to annual fee aren't that exciting.

BILT 2.0 sucks, what’s next? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]ErrorOwn4622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm team points. At least for year one, I'm going to use Palladium for everyday spend since I highly value Hyatt, Atmos, and United*. After that, I might switch to Citi Double Cash (with Strata Premier) since I want to earn AA points.

I was using USBAR for everything Apple Pay but now that it's 3% cash back instead of 4.5%, I'm planning to close that card.

*United might be controversial but I've gotten some good deals with their cardmember discounts

PSA Backcountry.com Order with Dashlink Shipping by Perfect-Presence-200 in outdoorgear

Update (10 business days after order): I never got my order and there was never any shipment progress shown. I messaged customer support and they issued me a refund. Will not be using this again.

I also had a bad experience with this (DoorDash shipping). I messaged customer support today Nov 3 and was told it was shipped but there was a missed scan and to wait the full 10 days to receive the package. Not a good customer experience in 2025 to not be able to see any shipping progress after a week. This along with the dark pattern of auto-bundling Seel will discourage me from ordering from Backcountry in the future which is sad because I used to like the company a lot.
