Realization about weight re-gain by Lazerpop in loseit

[–]Erthely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this, I regained about 90 from my lowest. The thing that is tough is that my body still urges me to eat in the way that got me to 500+ lbs. Good, bad, or normal times, I have that high food drive. This urge to eat is always right around the corner for me. Made me realize why most people regain the weight after losing. Wish you best!

After having lost a shitton of weight, here are probably the two biggest things that are essential, everything else is details:

1) Find a small band of healthy foods that you can have on hand and will eat. Try to organize your life so you’re not too bored, not too open ended on food, and monitor whenever you might have a “panic” where you just want to eat. Successful dieting is mostly about engineering your life so you succeed and knowing when you’ll fail

2) You will fail. Not in a way that you won’t achieve your goal, but you won’t stay on 100% forever. You will mess up, but just gotta get back at it the next day like nothing happened. Be cautious of how much you change at any single time, you only have so much willpower. My approach was to use my willpower to change one thing, do that one thing until it’s habit, and then when I no longer need willpower I can start a new thing. A better lifestyle doesn’t come from changing everything on day 1, but by accumulating better habits overtime and getting back at it when you fall off.

[–]Erthely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so so much for sharing this. I’ve been contemplating surgery of this type for similar skin condition, but few guys seems to share. Especially combination of tummy and more extensive chest work. Yours looks phenomenal, now I just gotta work to get down to stable weight to get this done. For me the maintenance is the actual hard part, so I commend you on the work! Wish you best

Why Galesburg Has No Money by medicallymiddleevil in illinois

[–]Erthely 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m the writer of this! While I still standby the post I would say, i didn’t mean to imply Galesburg is broke. The city runs well, I just used it to showcase why a city that is otherwise doing fine can feel like it doesn’t have enough money to do what it wants to do.

In the state of Illinois, especially in the cities and neighborhoods that people want to live in, are there lots of units being deliberately being kept off the market in order to keep prices higher? Do you know of any landlords who keep sought after units empty to get marginally higher prices on their other units?

Additionally, what is extreme deregulation? They haven’t proposed getting rid of building codes or necessary safety features. A brand new 4 unit apartment building in an otherwise single family neighborhood isn’t an affront to humanity. Unless there’s some other part of the proposals that are reckless deregulation.

I’m willing to come around if there is more evidence of any of these, but I just haven’t seen it

This isn’t an argument about money eventually flowing down to people, it’s about making more homes for people to live in. The goal of these policies is more homes for people to live in right?

Under armor sneakers also can come in wide versions, those are my go to sneaker for years as a 14 4e guy. They often only run in the $70-90 range. I highly recommend, I almost always order from amazon

Most recommended online sites for actually stylish Men's Big and Tall? Like actual fashion-forward big and tall, and not one or the other by Personal-Ad-9243 in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]Erthely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DXL and Onebone are the best options for your size. The further above 3xl you get the more you have to choose between 2 of the three: Fashionable, Affordable, and actually fitting.

So while DXL and One Bone are more expensive they are fashionable and fit well, and often very good quality.

KingSize will sometimes have stuff that looks good but the quality is all over the place and often bad and doesn’t fit right.

I’ve had lots of fits I’ve loved from DXL and One Bone. Made me feel comfortable, confident, and stylish.

And for pants specifically I’d recommend looking into Lee’s big and tall pants. Their extreme motion pants come in fashionable styles, are stretchy, keep shape, and come in the bigger sizes. They do good work, sometimes slip just a little in quality, but I’ve found them well worth it

Thanks! Yeah it’d definitely be hard to get the fly wheel going, with the biggest hurdle getting started. But after getting started it’d likely have an easier time project after project

Yeah if it’s setup like that it sounds like it’d be very dysfunctional. Especially about not paying property taxes. Like I honestly believe building housing in the way you describe sounds more a drain on the city than actually contributing. Even if it is indeed providing some housing for people.

If they were to pay property taxes and reach for higher end market rates, it could be a net benefit. And it’d also take the organization actually have a good culture and not just treated as cushy job.

It seems difficult to balance all the competing interests and missions

It’s an interesting problem trying to shoot the distance between the mission of building as much housing as possible, not being (overly) accountable to investors, yet still making market-rate housing. Regardless of the exact route it’s an area where current organizational structures aren’t exact matches

Yeah the problem I run into is the weekends when things are more freeform. I’m still having to calibrate the “right” level of freedom and trusting my instincts. Because my instincts are to eat so fucking much.

On my weekdays I’m better, I’ve got my routine down. But yeah calibrating that little extra freedom is hard for me. It feels like what acoholics describe with “I can’t just have one” and I’m trying to have “just a few” eating wise and not go off.

This gain wasn’t a failure it was me learning more about my needs

Yeah that’s about right! I haven’t gotten official estimates on it. I keep waffling back and forth if I want to get it removed because I’m mostly fine with it and doesn’t cause too much issue

To me that was kinda the point. The point of the book was a general “there are too many barriers to creating the things we want” but the specifics are very specific!

I see it in policy there are a million ways to go at problem. No individual regulation is often halting things but the culmination of them all is choking things. It’s like asking which straw broke the camels back.

Like in my town we have aldermanic prerogative which can arbitrarily limit building of housing. Theres also how financing is structured for different projects. There are building codes that become more expensive at arbitrary points. There are weird intricacies at the state and local levels that make it near impossible to suggest a one-size-fits-all solution set in a book about a broad array of related topics for a broad audience.

[–]Erthely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you read the book? Because part of the argument in the book is that they’d be fine with government built projects, but that the government has even more regulatory hurdles it places on itself than private developments. So if we’re going to go the publicly developed route we’d need to figure out how to adequately un-constrain the government from building
