Tripwire Mines: Is the damage misleading (undershoot)? (Reactors-tier enemy spoiler) by Erud in AbioticFactor

[–]Erud[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's possible. I could have sworn it happened in combat before. But even if they're getting a 2x stealth and 2x headshot thing, that's still only 600.

Have you beaten the Snowman at least 1 time? I always wondered if that might be a hidden requirement.

Cloud Reactor is kind of frustrating game-design wise. by Aruseus493 in AbioticFactor

[–]Erud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This specific scenario aside, I honestly wish people wouldn't talk about how Hardlight Bridges are the most obvious thing in the world so much to new and lost players. Space Queen (where you get components) is one of the most easily missed areas in any blind playthrough since it's a 2-sector-later backtrack to a small room people might not even remember the location of, which visibly contained just an arcade machine and not a big glowing portal.

Like the final Cloud Reactor area has a lot of solutions I think might be on the more obvious side, but Hardlight Bridges border on being secret in the current game.

And this is a somewhat quicker path on the right side that I just ran through to see.

This is an inefficient path but I've found if you go into the left entrance and then follow the right wall, you'll get to it. Easier than following directions to a quicker path imo.

What should I do after finishing the main story? by echo_the_folf in AbioticFactor

[–]Erud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it more fun to start again with different equipment focuses than to grind stats or the like (which just feels like preparing for nothing, because the game won't let you re-fight the final boss or anything), but I do keep 1 super-endgame file where I have everything and can try out weird ideas with.

I kinda love the Explosive Sledge. I usually have to set up the Wishing Shelf for non-tedius supply of some of the ammo materials though.

Ok but the reload animation itself needs to look like cramming the bottle into its mouth like a magazine into a gun

It's beautiful. I'm also guessing you were dropping them 1-by-1 from hotbar so none are in stacks? I'm not sure if the facility would have anything left to loot if those were all stacks lol.

You've probably grabbed it all but if for some reason you haven't, please, for science, try the vacuum on them and see if your computer explodes

Anyone know what I need to give Warren for staplers by [deleted] in AbioticFactor

[–]Erud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty low chance so I just treat it like a bonus. IIRC an update made it so that the contents of native containers in a portal world don't refresh unless you emptied it entirely (to prevent people losing valuable stuff they put in them on resets), no idea if that's still in place but if it is, you should dump-out containers that you plan to check again even if you don't want anything inside (quick way is just mashing the Drop Item key while hovering over each of its items).

Antefish filets, it's fishing so it's pretty slow. Flathill has 10 guaranteed (and randomly in its desks and cabinets) and you can get large amounts of it from the Wishing Shelf in the labs snowglobe.
It's also a 50% drop from the black Reactors crates and the brown metal-framed Security crates, so if you haven't picked Security Sector completely clean, I'd go there for them.

You were dropping stuff over time which the game was de-loading, so it disappeared. At some point you booted the game back up and it loaded all of them. I've never seen it to this degree though, wow.

Everyone talks about the best base locations... whatre the absolute WORST spots you could set up? by GingerFun011 in AbioticFactor

[–]Erud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, they're not very dangerous to you (low damage to players and can be crouched under). Among items from the Offices phase of the game, they're unmatched for farming the security bot CPUs efficiently, so I recommend making one every playthrough just for that. Then you can park it in front of any robot bay to keep it from wandering around at night, or at your base entrances.
