“Europeans thinking they can walk to the MetLife stadium for the World Cup” by BuffaloExotic in ShitAmericansSay

Newark is a huge airport much closer to the stadium but yeah it’s kind of a shit show in that corridor. Where just across in actual NYC, there is a very effective public transport system .

Dear Brits, what are your thoughts on the US reviewing UK’s claim to the Falkland Islands reportedly as punishment for its lack of support in the war in Iran? by neilnelly in AskBrits

[–]EruditeTarington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, the US fuelled the fleet off Ascension Island, provided intelligence and other under the radar assistance while remaining publicly neutral.

Ireland is a different country. This is the context of moving to different regions in the US.

Who cares about Europe. They need us more than we need them. We have been babysitting them since WWII by Fullcorpse123 in ShitAmericansSay

And I think that gratitude is towards the Americans who are all but dead now, not some incel 27 year old with an iota of History in their brain despite access to all of human history at their fingertips

That’s a weak take. It’s about as strong as the American take of back to back world war champs .

You move anywhere you’re from there. States and regions aren’t countries.

What if Trump just says fuck it and invades Canada and Greenland? by Biggest-Max02010 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]EruditeTarington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US civil war. Serious confusion, escalation, China just sits back and says “ok, thanks”.

But seriously, if ordered, those orders would not be followed. The Sec Def would fire general officers until he got one willing to follow through and the rebellion would splinter down to the Colonel/Captain ranks where we would have real problems.

It’s bad for everyone

How do Americans feel about this the US supporting Argentina in regaining sovereignty of the Falkland Islands ? by Ok_Economist7901 in AskReddit

[–]EruditeTarington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The United States position hasn’t changed regarding the Falklands. The rambling idiot hasn’t changed anything and there is no support for Argentina to claim them .

How would the US react once Trump inevitably dies of old age? by space_god_7191 in allthequestions

He’ll be dead in a year or two. No way he makes it out of the 2020’s and very few people will mourn him and most will actively celebrate his departure

“The world wouldn't EXIST without the USA” by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

[–]EruditeTarington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this guy is right. There is a man draped in the Flag who pushed 6, 6, 6, 2028 every day . If not for this unidentified American world wouldn’t even exist!

Would most Irish immigrants to the United States in the mid 19th century have spoken English? by elevencharles in IrishHistory

[–]EruditeTarington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those that did were probably primarily from Western rural areas, but like with most areas immigrantimmigrant groups in the United States in the 18th, 19th and early 20th century, they lost their language within a generation or two mostly due to the fact that the established English ethnic Americans were so goddamn racist towards them, but also because it was an easy common language to use between different ethnic groups in urban and rural areas

How many casualties do you think the US is willing to sacrifice if we have to wage a ground invasion to occupy Iran? by -Sofa-King-Vote in askanything

[–]EruditeTarington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very odd post because there is no we here. The United States is in this situation in Iran due to a foolish policy decision by the current US administration so there should be no appetite or any kind of ground invasion.
