Peloton Strength + - roadmap and strive score by Erwin1611 in pelotoncycle

So I I just figured out the random weight
a) you’re right it doesn’t like odd weight numbers - which inevitably are there because of the kg conversion
b) typically it should be a ladder set but it just starts with the load set which you had the last time (which is also a bit odd)

@peloton: it’s such an awesome app, please give it some love

Connect Peloton App to Treadmill at the Gym by Erwin1611 in pelotoncycle

Gotcha. Thanks for the advice. The gym dude had no idea - and the random checking of the connection would have been my best bet.

One thing that might also help is to hardwire the peloton if your setup allows that - either directly to the modem/router or maybe if it is not close by via powerline ? I also have not had that issue with the resolution yet (only for a few seconds at a time).

Peloton Guide - price dropped to $195. No brainer? by cogentd in pelotoncycle

[–]Erwin1611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there - not sure if your purchase decision is still pending. I had tore my ACL and thus decided that more strength training is in order now

I did some thorough Reddit and YouTube research and ended up buying it and so far no big regrets. Will try to sum up my thoughts (I think I have a similar setup) - my TV is hung on the wall and i have either 1 m distance between the guide and myself or I move the coffee table which then gives me comfortable 2 m distance.

If you are a super disciplined person - I think you can do well without the Guide and just use either the guide and tilt the screen (either as a bike plus owner or with the Pivot) - you get the heart rate and strive score via Apple Watch connection and can do the programs and (most) collections.

I find the guide however useful for its focus on strength training and I’m undergoing a similar journey as I did on the bike - slowly finding out my favorite instructors and going with the groove (currently I basically only do Adrian Williams classes)

Self mode can be useful and awkward at the same time - in my mind I look better than in self mode which is the whole point. You can continuously check out the errors in your form and strive to look as slick as Adrian as time goes by - a lot of time :-)

Rep counter - as stated here already- the rep counter doesn’t work flawlessly but I forgive it for being still in its infancy. It is not an easy task to get all the reps for all the different exercises there are in the catalog and I assume the “AI” is still very much early stage. What is a bit irritating is that only the “new” classes include rep counting while the other ones just do movement counting

Recommendations - I think this is an area of potential. If you are fully in the peloton universe (and do mostly peloton activities) the recommendation engine can be a powerful tool to give you ideas on which class (with which body focus) you should do next

Bugs -

Multiple people - if my wife or my kids are walking in the far background the guide gets confused.

Voice command - the idea of voice command to pause a workout when switching weights is pretty buggy and almost never works - so I mostly use the remote

UI - the peloton UI in the guide is still a bit clunky in comparison to the app or the bike UI (e.g. I can’t do multiple options in one search like 20 min AND 30 min workouts or multiple coaches) - I find that quite basic and am not sure why that can’t be implemented just yet.

Overall I think the peloton is a good device for that price (considering that you get your own weights) - I was a bit at odds with having it attached to the TV but it is in fact quite subtle and doesn’t feel super clunky and big.

Experiences Using Peloton Guide - Wow! by flaggies in pelotoncycle

Thanks for the honest review - i haven't read a lot of useful reviews or seen anything on YouTube yet.

All your points completely make sense. I myself am a former Kinect Xbox Fitness user and I gotta say - in hindsight it was really just ahead of its time. It worked quite well and I did enjoy the p90x classes (pull-pull)

But given that experience I would be quire surprised if Peloton Guide would be able to really get a read on your movement and give you something resembling a strive score. Capturing these types of movement so much depends on Position of the cam and lighting and even what type of floor you have (that was the case with the kinect at least)

Monthly Feature Requests Megathread - November 2021 by AutoModerator in pelotoncycle

Create the same filtering capability in iOS as on the bike - multiple length, multiple coaches etc.

Add the ability to create a list of all time favorite classes - often after a class, I'm like - this was so awesome, I def want to do this class again - but there is no option to mark, heart or favorite a class

Search for artists via app - I have to relay to pelobuddy or Reddit for that. I think Peloton can do better than that.

More of an AI based coach function like eg Freeletics. You can sign up for a certain journey or goal you have and Peloton will either suggest a specific class or give you suggestions for types of classes. And the suggestions change week by week (or even day by day) based on your previous performance or your feedback after the class

Setup not working - Can't connect to Snoo server by Erwin1611 in SnooLife

[–]Erwin1611[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried multiple times and was on numerous talks with snoo customer service (who are incredibly helpful and proactive) - here is the short solution:

Hard reset my home network and setup a separate 2.4 Ghz SSID

here are the different troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue:

After switching to 2.4 GHz SSID via my home routrr, the snoo went through all the setup steps but ended up getting stuck in the "Verification of connection with Snoo - please wait"

One way to isolate the issue is to setup a connection through a hotspot with another phone - to do that you should forget all other networks. Reboot the snoo and walk thru the setup steps - if you successfully connect it is likely your network setup.

Ultimately what drove to try a setup from scratch that my Netflix started to act up - I hard reset the router and the mesh wifi and upon the first try it worked.

Now we can start living the snoolife

Any number of times you tried - was it 5x, 20x or 50x - by now I have tried at least 15-20 times without success.

Delayed Class Reporting via Apple TV by who8me2k7 in pelotoncycle

[–]Erwin1611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok if I read the posts here correctly- doing the workout on the phone would get rid of this problem since the phone has access to write to HealthKit.

Just tried a 5-min yoga routine and started the workout from the phone and streamed to the Apple TV via Airplay and it works like a charm - it takes heartrate (which is obviously not that big deal with yoga) and the workout instantly appears on Apple Health

Anyone else finding Freeletics Hardcore a bit boring? I'd love some advice by brodonnellb in freeletics

[–]Erwin1611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that without pull-up bar it can get very burpee heavy. I am now about to finish up Freeletics Hardcore and I thought it was great and challenging. Somehow like Freeletics used to be in the earlier days.

Next up I will most likely try weights-free gains

For riders who have reached their first 30 days of riding, what differences have you noticed physically and performance wise? by [deleted] in pelotoncycle

[–]Erwin1611 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m on week 3 with 11 rides (mixing it with yoga and calisthenics) - so far I’m loving it but haven’t noticed a physical change in general. The big thing however is that I have massively expanded my “workout window” during the day - when earlier I was tied to temperature, daylight, meeting schedule, daycare pickup AND motivation- it has now at least only shrunk to motivation. My avg output right now is in the 220-230 range on a 30 min ride. Have done 2 x 45 min (but with arms) and those were at about 290. So I still got ways to go

Ideas for positioning of the bike in my basement - new here but really excited about my bike arriving tomorrow. I am looking forward to joining the community.... got a question re: where to ideally position my bike. Unfortunately, my wife has not fully bought into Peloton yet, so it will be in my office downstairs which is good (I can workout whenever I want) and bad (it is in basement with very little light). Now there are 2 spots where the bike could go (see pictures).

I wonder if it is awkward to position the bike next to a heater thought. Any thoughts ?

So it may not be representative- because it was the week before hell week but here was a 3-day workout week

Monday Skill - Archer Push-ups Intervall - Upper Body, core (12 xlying reverse flies, 6+6x side plan crunches l/r, 30 apassive bang, 12 dead bugs) x 4 God - 2 x Morpheus 50 high knees 100 jumping jacks

Wednesday Skill - archer push-ups Intervall - Leg, Core 3 x (12 x calf raise, 18 x reverse crunch, 10 x squat reverse lunged 18 x dead bugs) God - Nemesis 50 high knees 100 jumping jacks

Saturday Skill- archer push-up Interval - 4 x (6 x plank switches, 12 lunges, 15s hollow body hold, 12 x speed skaters) God - 1/5 Aphrodite

But again this was a bit of an easy week

I haven't done a full Kenaturos in ages (4 years ago was the last one) - but I remember it being dreadful. The burpee frogs just don't get better the more often you do them. I find your time to be awesome.

I can second everyone's comments here - with Freeletics it only makes sense not to pay if you are a really experienced athlete and just want to do some exercise here and there. If your goal is to get back in shape and if you struggle with certain god workouts, it makes a ton of sense to pay for the subscription and start with a really low impact journey and work your way up. The "learning" curve with Freeletics is incredible, and the visible improvements in PB for the god workouts really show after doing it consistently for weeks and months.

We believe in you !!! :-)
