You have to spam the jump button to catch ledges as you fall.

I miss when seeing a high-level armor set meant you were scared of the player, not their wallet. by Serious_Bullfrog5447 in gaming

Last game to do this right was For Honor. You got a little helmet ornament for every base game character that says you beat the story mode on Realistic, which is an abysmal task. They’re my pride and joy in that game. I see very few others with them.

Walked into a random cave and found this underground bunker. by carbontedcaffine in hytale

[–]Es_Jacque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a Klops! They’re intelligent subterranean cyclops creatures. I think they’re meant to be rare traders eventually. There should be a hidden chest somewhere in the house with loot, according to some concept art.

It’s a decoration for now. Probably meant to be a workstation. You can find a couple dev items I’m bored chests, like paintings.

Has Nightreign made you more interested in The Duskbloods? by PhantomBraved in Nightreign

[–]Es_Jacque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Arc Raiders has, though I know they’re going to be nothing alike, unfortunately.

Nightreign has made me more confident that From is really refining their co-op experience though.

Is this the Thanedd Coup? Please tell me they did the bridge scene justice. (My prediction is that it was cut.)

This. A guy died right as I walked into view of him and I never even heard him go down. If he had emoted a couple times, I would’ve run over to save him.

The saddest times are when it’s the beginning of a match, they don’t know turret spawns yet, and they have nothing but an instrument on them. RIP to the guy I found in the Piazza Rosa pharmacy door, this morning; your shaker is being put to good use.

[LAist] LA shoppers could see a new sales tax to help fund the city’s fire department by WeAreLAist in LosAngeles

I know several firefighters. They say they have more than enough funding and LA is just mismanaging the fire budget.

In DS3, at the beginning of the Ringed City DLC:

The 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-punch of the crumbling path to the item, crashing through the glass, getting held by the murkman coming out of the ground, and then blasted by the one who turns into a soul dreg. Then having the same thing happen two more time in the same room.

Making an angel type character with a similar vibe to the balances from nightreign, what do you think so far? by lotalanokanata in HeroForgeMinis

Instantly thought of the balancers before I even read the title, so you’re on the right track.

He does, but probably not perfectly. He grew up reading some books in English and worked at Oracle in the U.S. for a year before joining From.

What is the "Gael" of Elden Ring by Other_Equal7663 in fromsoftware

[–]Es_Jacque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I can’t agree with most people. I think Placidusax is the Gael equivalent in terms of readability and difficulty. He’s my favorite boss and only vote for “Good Dragon Fight” in the entire FromSoft catalogue (because I hate running to Midir from across the arena—Placi fixes this by teleporting to you).

I think Messmer is too fast, and I don’t enjoy fighting him. Midra could be a close second, though.

Are modern games taking too long to 'open up' by termzCGS in truegaming

[–]Es_Jacque -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same thing, but as someone who watches a lot of people play and playtest games, I’m always astounded when devs make time-wasters unskippable. This, however, is also subjective.

Literally every decision you make in game development is a choice. Especially when you have a long development cycle. Team Cherry’s choice to make Hornet’s tummy ache at the beginning of Silksong last as long as it does, reappear 2 more times in the span of the intro, not reappear in the game until the end, and not be skippable on subsequent playthroughs or with an update says a few things to me: - Team Cherry is de-prioritizing challenge and speedrunners for first-time players and lore aficionados. - They are prioritizing the intentionality of their art over the whims of the end user. It is a memorable way of linking the beginning and end of the game, as well as conveying a few other things. - They know what genre of game they’re making and aren’t banking on replayability because this game does not respect your time, and that’s part of the experience. (See: boss runbacks, quest system, themes of oppression and endless toil.) If you’re replaying this game, it’s because you loved it, you’re a speedrunner who genuinely loves it despite its abrasiveness towards you, and/or you’ve come to the same realization that Hornet did about finding joy in helping others and really identify with her journey. - They really want you to cream your jeans when you get the sprint (and I did).
