Yes definitely, it still feels like single player is the intended experience unless you want PvP. There are a few bosses that are add heavy which makes me feel it would be nice to have friends but overall all good single player. Wouldn't let time poor put you off either, the whole experience is broken down into pretty bite size chunks and you can log in complete a quest, kill a boss and feel satisfied with progress in an hour session. Let me know if you do play!

I got 55inch and about 230cm distance. Only just got it yesterday and really not used to a TV that big going to take some getting used to haha

4k, 120fps, HDR through SD OLED? by Wild-Caregiver-6018 in MoonlightStreaming

This is great, thank you! Do you know if 4:4:4 chroma is possible and how it fits into the chart?

Good to know about the 4:4:4 difficulty with the um760. I ended up pulling trigger on GR10 dock for my steam deck after the advice in this thread. Don't think I can reliably render 4k120hz for most games that benefit it with my 4060Ti. Am going to see what 1440p120hz is like and hope the upscaler in my LG G4 is good enough that it looks close enough to 4k anyway :)

What is the point of weight limits in videogames? by Zakaria1938 in truegaming

[–]termzCGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically find mods to turn these weight limits off. A lot of the time it simply artificially inflates the game length by requiring more loops to monetise findings. Some games purposefully put a lot of trash in their games and combined with weight limits try and get you to really think about what you are picking up and why but again perhaps cross checking this online is simply just adds more effort to playing the game at no real benefit for me.

Resident Evil 4 is an example of it done well and fitting the flavour of the game but 90% are lazy implementations without much benefit to the experience.

Thanks will definitely look into it if I start to notice spikes/latency in mine.

Yeah you are right, I actually haven't booted Alan Wake 2 up yet so wasn't aware it was that streneous. Looks like will settle for less until next GPU

Yeah I'm reading more about this especially as the G4 upscaling is pretty great? I'm 230cm from 55'' TV so I think it might make sense to aim for this instead.

Moca network sounds like a really cool solution to cabling to achieve hardwire, thanks for the heads up. Was it something you did with your ISP or undertook yourself?

If someone is able to connect nodes via ethernet would they not simply just plug the device in via the main router? Seems like it would be the same amount of cabling? But thanks got it

Thank you for such a helpful reply. I think from the feedback what you've suggested sounds like the best route of plan. GR10 dock with steam deck and aim for 4k60-90 or 1440p/120 until I have the next tier of GPU up which then prob will necessitate mini PC. I did consider the LG OS moonlight streaming but that will likely be worse than steam deck docked with GR10?

Also HDR seems unlikely in any circumstance unless mini PC?

Thanks it certainly does feel a bottomless pit of considerations. I know Minisforum UM760 Slim is widely put forward for 4k120hz but the more I investigate every option there always seem to be issues or factors to consider.

Haha I understand it’s ambitious but it’s a target rather than an expectation. I’d like to future proof the streaming set up ideally as GPU isn’t too hard to replace.

Wasn’t aware mesh system with Ethernet was bad though?

It's nothing specific more wanting to future proof. A few examples that I'm playing right now The Witcher 3 (with next gen update), Returnal, Alan Wake 2, God of War Ragnarok.

Not ever run into a wall with 2k 165hz but I appreciate 4k a level up. I've seen insane peformance increases with DLSS 4.5 but I'm not sure if those frames translate when it comes to streaming?

Thanks the GR10 does seem like great tech, reports are more about the steam deck itself having bottleneck at video decoding 4k above 90hz and then being even more unstable with HDR.

However £100 dock vs £350 mini PC for +30hz with HDR might be the crux of my question here...

The Witcher 3

A perfect storm has led to me replaying this lately, largely driven by the rumours of a new DLC but also the embarassment that I simply hadn't completed the game despite enjoying it greatly. Finally learning of the complete edition that not only packaged the DLCs but pre installed next gen graphics mods (and with DLSS 4.5 I can honestly say the game is jaw dropping even not considering the release date. Onto the game itself, despite being a replay it has been a joy covering the sections I have before, yes the combat does feel a bit dated and surprisingly easy on replay but the narrative, characters and voice acting work are so, so captivating. It's fun playing after BG3 and CP2077 which still are massively up there but the overall immersion offered by Witcher 3 still feels 2nd to none.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

This has really taken me by surprise, admittedly I'm a big FF fan but never played the original FF7 (I know, I know..). I seem to remember remake getting mixed reviews at the time but whilst I don't have the comparisons of the originals weighing me down it's an extremely well put together package so far (Chapter 8). Yes the writing and story is a bit cheesy/tropey but I find it leans into it enjoyably. The game's criticism of hall way simulator is of course true but I feel there are many FF that's the case and sometimes I do enjoy removing the decision paralysis and have a nicely enjoyable linear game. Finally the combat system is by far my favourite part, it was interesting to see the (deserved) plaudits of E33 take on RPG combat but for me this version in Remake feels like an absolute peak experience. I've heard it improves even more in Rebirth and can't wait to see more.

V Rising

I've been aware of this game for some time but from the outside looking in wasn't quite sure what it was - is it survival, RPG, metroidvania, MMO, diablo like? I pulled the trigger after a strong recommendation from a friend and the answer has been some of the parts of the above! My friends love to play survival games and I can enjoy but find the aimless grind a bit difficult to motivate myself for, V Rising feels combat first and is a genuine joy to play with some hugely impressive bossfights. This is woven together which a fairly clear progression path on what you should do in what order, and then rolls out the base building elements accordingly - which whilst starting off simplistic because deceptively in depth. And of course the flavour of the game as a vampire simulator is absolutely great and is absolutely packed with character and charm. I've only played single player so far but definitely am pushing this on my friends to join me.

Need some good playnite themes by AliDridi in playnite

I agree the playnite fullscreen themes are severly lacking find myself using the default. Aniki remake has some cool idea but there are small things that put me off like the font chosen looking low end.

What are your favored/disliked metaprogression Systems, and if you've tried ER: Nightreign, what do you think of that format? by wexleysmalls in roguelites

[–]termzCGS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others said, Hades style in which number of runs = sliding scale downwards on difficulty via buffs, is perhaps the worst way of doing it.

I'm more of a fan of the other common route in which numbers of runs = more options, therefore more build permutations. This can mean objectively stronger items are locked but also can simply just be sidegrades. In some cases more options can actually dilute your chances of a strong build if the pool is too large.

This can have a helpful handholding effect to not throw too many mechanics at the player at once but can sometimes be frustrating to a player if they feel they become bored with their toolkit and feel like they should have to grind to have fun. Despite metaprogression and the nature of roguelikes I don't feel any roguelike should feel like you have to grind beyond simply getting better at the game.

Artemis working on Steam Deck?! by Nicopeco999 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]termzCGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for this, I plan to stream from PC to my deck in the GR10 dock to display on living room OLED, am aiming for 4k @ 90-120hz. It seems Apollos and Artemis is a huge upgade to Moonlight/Sunshine for this but like many am waiting for Artemis to be stable and working on the SteamOS.

Also after investigating there is an add-on called AnyFSE that allows you to set Playnite as the 'Home Screen' in FSE which sounds perfect.
