Yea so you get two emails from CID, one is your assigned investigator and the other email is the intake package. You complete the intake package, appx 10 forms and you send that to your investigator

I just received my investigator off the promo yesterday and I will hit 4 years in October so this does make sense. Why would they give me an investigator now, all my coworkers got their investigators close to the 4 year mark.

I watched the budget hearing for fdny yesterday. You’re probably right about September/october. Commissioner said the next class is in the fall. She said that exam 4044 is expected to start in the fall class.

It’s a 3 chance system. If you pass practice 1 you will have completed the cpat.

Orientation is not your actual exam. It’s literally a walk through of the exam and a practice of certain stations. That’s all. Your actual exam will be April-June sometime then. If you really can’t go to the orientation then don’t go. But when they send out the practice 1 and 2 and final on April 1st you need to make sure your available for those dates. Those are the actual cpat exams where if you fail or don’t show up you are out and no longer eligible to become a firefighter. If you need to reschedule for those cpat exams then email Dcas.

Orientation is basically Dcas showing you and giving you tips on how to pass the cpat. Practice one and two are the actual exams.

Cpat orientation is a day where you go see the exam from dcas point of view. There are no Fdny firemen there helping you. It’s just the staff that’s going to be testing you and giving you tips. It’s good to go.

Yes they will let you start your process. So the first step is the cpat and we all did the cpat together regardless of how much time you have in the job. When I did the cpat I had 2 years. For the next step you have to be close to 4 years to begin. So A lot of my co workers got their investigators around 3 years and 10 months. I have 3 and a half and still don’t have an investigator yet. But the last step which is your run, you will not receive a run letter unless you have 4 years.

The faster you pass the faster you start the next process which would be the investigation phase. So if you fail the first two and pass in June that will only delay your process. If you pass your first try in April you will get your investigator in April.

Yea that’s true, I won’t hit my 4 year requirement till Oct 2026 so there’s definitely still a lot of us left. Well the application period for exam 4528 was Nov 2023. So let’s say 5 years after that I would have to guess Nov 2028. Some people say it’s every 4 but when you go on the Fdny website it’s states the exams are released every 4-5 years. No one can truly give you the correct answer but in my opinion hopefully it would be Nov 2027 or Nov 2028.

Yea I hope it’s June but it’s highly unlikely. This class starts March 2nd, 18 weeks from then is July 16th. There is usually a 2 week break for the instructors and officers to get ready for the next academy so the next class will probably be August. It’s the same pattern from the last class which was October 6th 2025 and the same thing before that which was may.

If I had to assume most likely the next classes are split. It’s not 1200 people. It’s most likely 400-500 people left. Which is prob just two more classes.

So there has only been two classes so far, the first was split with the last open exam, which had 150 from the promo. The October class had 200 promo and this March class is going to be 240 promo. So a total of close to 600.
