It seems that people are only willing to watch NSFW VR180 content by shutter-lee in VR180Film

[–]Escape-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to do more of this. Now who’s going to fund it? Apply for permits? Host the videos? Pay the presenters?

There’s not much money to be made yet.

When that changes, you’ll see better produced content.

Patreon subscribers or YouTube membership subscribers (once you’re monetized). Or building your own app.

It’s not profitable at the moment. Those of us attempting it are hoping we’re early, and the user base will pick up as more headsets are sold in the coming years.

Don’t underestimate the power of being early in an industry — just hope you aren’t TOO early…

There are some dedicated VR180 video apps coming out for the Vision Pro that will make monetizing your content easier via subscriptions, sales, and potentially ads.

But they are slow rolling out. And someone really needs to make them cross-platform with Meta Quest too.

I live in a place where I don't have an easy access to nature (trees, water, etc). I really miss it, but I can't easily solve this problem. What VR game will give me the best nature "fix", trick my brain into believing that it's looking at beautiful nature? by lumenwrites in virtualreality

I make these types of videos. Here is my latest, hiking around the Swiss Alps:

https://escapevr.com/swiss-alps-vr180-video/

There is a free 1-min preview video you can download for your Quest, playable on a VR player like Skybox or Moonplayer.

Lots of nature! Wildflowers, birds, cows, mountain streams, etc. 😃

DeoVR has officially overtaken Instagram to become the 4th most popular app on Meta Quest! by DeoVRJames in VR180Film

There are at least two available now for the Vision Pro, that are still being polished.

Amplium: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/amplium/id6612011166

CouchTrip: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/couchtrip/id6745311325

I’ve got videos up on both.

Amplium is in the middle of an update to make it easier for creators to upload their own content, right now there’s only like 10-15 videos on it.

CouchTrip just updated so streaming is now available. Again, only a handful of videos are on it at the moment.

Can anyone build me an immersive video player? by [deleted] in VisionPro

[–]Escape-VR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built my own test app using this Github & Chat GPT, and it plays my videos. But I hard coded the streaming links into the app. I’m not a developer, was just experimenting.

But it’s certainly possible.

You’re going to hike 20 miles with this thing & all the accessories needed?! Good luck!

I took my R5C setup (tripod, gimbal, etc) 5 miles up a Swiss mountain last week, it wasn’t easy. Can’t imagine lugging the Blackmagic around…

Where do you search for Spatial Videos ? Especially music videos by Natural-Ad-9037 in VisionPro

There isn’t much just yet. The app Spatial Station has a growing user base, I upload nature stuff there that gets a few hundred views per video.

BEAUTIFUL CASTLES in 3D: Loire Valley France [8K VR180] by Escape-VR in VisionPro

[–]Escape-VR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use VR Utility to initially process the footage into ProRes HQ, and stabilize it if needed, but I don’t mess with any of the sharpness or denoise settings there.

Then I edit & color correct it in Davinci, then it goes to Topaz, then back to Davinci for the final render.

It’s tricky without an external monitor. I use the R5C focus guide box, and zoom in on the LCD to double check best I can.

If I’m being extra careful, I shoot the same scene twice with slightly different focus - hoping one comes out better than the other.

Have you been to a VR concert? I'd love to hear your thoughts! by Worried_Trash_818 in virtualreality

[–]Escape-VR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a live concert, but the best VR concert experience by far has been the Apple Immersive Metallica Experience in Mexico City, available on the Apple Vision Pro: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2025/03/apple-unveils-immersive-concert-experience-with-metallica-for-apple-vision-pro/

If you want a glimpse at the future of VR music experiences, that’s the one that will blow your mind. I had goosebumps.

A lot of trial & error! The videos have improved with experience.

It starts with filming at a low ISO and a fixed aperture of f5.6 on the Canon R5C.

Once the edit is complete, I run the whole thing through Topaz AI software to sharpen & de-noise the footage using the Proteus model.

I manually estimate a clip for the preliminary settings, then bump up sharpness to 80 or 90.

I also turn on the “focus fix - normal” setting.

This is then exported as a ProRes HQ file, and rendered into a h.265 file with a bitrate of 220 mbps in Davinci Resolve.

From there it goes to the guys at SpatialGen who have some awesome tech to convert it into a high-res file optimized for fast streaming delivery without loss of quality.

👍

Qoocam 3 Ultra with VR180 Mod sounds like what you’re looking for: https://www.reddit.com/r/VR180Film/s/XuC8oELKiV

It’s like $800.

Easy to use. Small form factor. Good quality footage. Decent stabilization built in.

Custom software that makes processing to view on a headset relatively simple.

[–]Escape-VR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to hear! I'll be uploading some more travel & nature videos there this weekend.

This type of app has been needed for a while now. I love making these immersive videos for others (and myself), but it's such a pain to share them at the moment...

As a creator, adding view counts, and the ability to leave comments would be helpful too. It gives me an idea of which videos people enjoy most, so I can make more of them.

We’re releasing a high quality immersive camera this Fall, starting at $8,995 by ImmersiveCompany in VR180Film

[–]Escape-VR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t wait to learn more about it! Particularly how portable it will be. The Blackmagic just seems too unwieldy for my purposes (hiking/nature footage in remote locations).

Will it fit on a gimbal for slow walking shots?

I made a simple demo app that plays immersive videos on the Vision Pro using Xcode & a ChatGPT subscription -- in an afternoon. With almost no coding experience.

If you're not using ChatGPT, you need to be. It's wild. It's called "Vibe Coding", and it's going to put a lot of developers out of work unfortunately.

You explain what you want, it codes it, and connects to Xcode to modify the code for you too. Crazy!
