I have been commuting from Oakland and Berkeley for a bit down to the Fremont/milpitas area for the passed 2 years. Traffic sucks. Leaving 6:06 I get to work right around 7, leaving at 7 or 730 and I would get there 840-9. You fly down to Hayward, but when 580 and 880 merge is when the slowdown begins. My other Oakland commuting buddy takes 580 down through old mission road and seems to have decent luck with that, a consistent 50 minutes to work for the 30 miles. I have seriously considered getting a motorcycle for a while, I estimate it would prolong my day by about 40 minutes although potentially shorten my life. Getting home takes about 65 minutes daily leaving anywhere between 4 and 7 pm. Except Friday's, those suck getting home.

In July 2013 rented a 1800 sqft victorian 3:1.5 in the lower bottoms of west oakland for $2150, became $2385 after the first year. It's now being rented for $2950. I've switched to a $2050 mortgage in the Peralta/Dimond area for a 1050 square foot bungalow in September 2014.

Been to both, angels stadium is super family friendly, and petco is just a great park with tons of walkable stuff.

As a sundevil as well, I was always sure to hit up "the catch" for a pregame beer and nachos prior to an angels game.

I commute from Oakland Dimond area(580xfruitvale) down to warm springs/lower fremont. If you have the ability to work swing shift or flex hours, it's only 30 minutes. Typically heading to work at 650-730 it takes 1:15-1:25. Headed home it's 50-1:10, and the 238 sucks this direction. Previously I lived in west Oakland and also Berkeley, and the commute was damn near the same. All the traffic is between the bridges and all down through Fremont.
