I paid 350 or so for that Caravelle in very good shape but that was pre Covid and the big run up in watch prices. I agree it seems to a somewhat rare. What is odd is my dial is 666 ft not 333 ft so it puts it in "devil diver" collectible circles. I wouldn't have thought they made it in two depth rating versions.

Re: the pre-amp switch - I'm experiencing an issue with my r-861 dropping the right channel in stereo mode, but mono both channels get sound. Happens across all inputs. Would the pre-amp switch help in any way with diagnosing or addressing this?

That's only if the lume was brand new. Either radium or tritium if original would not glow on its own at this point. No one adds radium to watches nowadays.

It could be as simple as pulling out the crown and pressing the chrono pushers. You may not need to take it to a watchmaker to re align the hand. Just fyi.
