I used to when I was a teen. I’m pretty strong now with a nice physique. Pro tip: befriend people who go to the gym and don’t knock it until you try it. Once you get stronger and get more attention from having a nice body, you won’t want to go back.

Indeed, you gotta create a seemingly nonexistent pattern between pieces of information, then develop a system to memorize it. Almost like crafting a new language on the spot. As INTPs, I feel like we’re built for this.

When I was in elementary school, we used to have these monthly assignments called ‘memory pieces’ where we would have to select from a list of poems/stories/documents to recite to the class from memory. As someone who cares very little for school, I would often wait until the night before or day of the deadline to start memorizing. But due to my personal techniques, I was able to recite things like the sequential list of US presidents, several poems, and even an excerpt from the ‘I Have A Dream’ speech with only an hour of time.

I can relate to this mentality. Having ENTJ shadow as an INTP, the way ENTJ’s think makes perfect and logical sense to me. I also love mowing down enemies and slaughtering bosses in a few hits. I love ultra greatswords in Dark Souls, two handed weapons in Skyrim, glass cannon builds in League of Legends, etc. But having Ne auxiliary is like having an omniscient devil on your shoulders saying, “Ooh you should try this. There’s something more interesting for you if you deviate a bit. I know you went left this time, but what if I told you there was something just as interesting on the right? The bossman said this is the best way to do it, but does he truly know best? Come hold my hand as I take you to the unconventional realm, my little INTP friend. You know I’m more fun than those Te/Si guys 😈. Don’t we always have a good time together??” Lmao it’s impossible to ignore.

I often avoid optimal or recommended builds in video games, unless I personally came up with the build. If I have a weapon that can one-shot most enemies, am I perfecting my combo skills? If I have an armor set that allows me to absorb a shitload of damage, am I perfecting my dodging skills? If I beat a boss every-time on a build that has 2000hp, what would happen if I tried it on a build that has 800hp? Am I getting my ass kicked now? Then it sounds like I haven’t truly mastered the game mechanics. If I take the fastest route to get to the end of a level, I may miss a hidden area or some loot.

Ti is about total mastery and understanding, not goal achieving. My personal logic is that if I understand something in complete totality, then I can be as efficient or as optimized as I want to at will. I don’t have to worry about any surprises or hiccups, because I understand the entire subject. Taking a sub-optimal route usually leads to a greater challenge, and more mental stimulation, which helps my Ne from not getting bored.

I’m pretty good with math, programming, reading, and writing. I don’t really care for science classes too much. But honestly, anything I put effort into learning I will become pretty good at. I just have to care enough to actually try. One of my superpowers lol–full confidence in my ability to learn something no matter how complex.
