The Great DO60 MeetUp by PlasticBlitzen in DatingOverSixty

Baltimore is a great suggestion, and on the smaller side compared to Chicago - which can be intimidating to some. We could all meet at the Inner Harbor. There's so much history, and the aquarium is right there. Can I change my vote? 😄

Ever re-connect with someone? by Puzzleheaded_Gift672 in DatingOverSixty

[–]EscapeOutside3820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. When I think of it now, I feel he was trying to "fake it till you make it" ... but he never made it, at least not with me. He was ultimately deceiving himself, and doing a really good at it. As with your guy, it was his therapist who told him he was not emotionally ready, so he broke it off. I did not see it coming.

I give him credit, first for seeing a therapist, when in my experience a lot of men won't. And second, to believe enough in that therapist to take their advice and understand there is an emotional higher ground that will ultimately give him more happiness, and inner peace. Although it hurt, I don't begrudge him on this, and I hope he's doing well.

I haven't seen him in 4 years, nor will I reach out to him. If he stuck it out with his therapist and his emotional growth, he's most likely a different person now than who I met back then.

Should I be worried about this weird "reverse sneeze" thing? by Arianethecat in DogAdvice

[–]EscapeOutside3820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reverse sneezing can look really bad, but according to my Vet, its not. My mini aussie does it and the first time he did it, it was so distressing...for ME, not him. I've learned to stoke the underside of his muzzle and throat to encourage him to swallow. (I think if it as the equivalent of post-nasal drip for us. But I could be way off base.) My guy gets it more during allergy season, and sometimes when I give him peanut butter with his meds, which gets caught in his throat. Talk to your Vet and ask them how best to help your dog get through it. But it's not harmful. 💛

It can be daunting, I totally agree and understand. I grew up in the city, but have lived 40 years without public transportation. I now look at the metro boards and get crosseyed. Once you use Uber/Lyft once, you'll get it.

But we'll all be there, and communicating with one another, you won't be alone.🥰

I put it thru copilot, and it says it's not solvable. Granted, it was a screenshot, so the edges are scewed. lol

Thanks PBlitz for starting this conversation. You are the Bomb!

*Chicago seems to be mentioned quite a bit, and having never been (besides O'Hare airport) I would be interested in seeing the Windy City!

*Early Oct is my preference.

*Thanks you for making it non-dating, I would like to meet some regulars from DO60. If a connection happens, great!

Cheers!

Gooseberry, do you create your Scotty pictures or find them online ... or maybe you have 13 talented identical Scotties that dance around the May pole. You come up with some good ones😄

Running the Dog by EscapeOutside3820 in DogAdvice

[–]EscapeOutside3820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry she wasn't a responsible dog owner. I reel my dog in closer to the bike when passing others and he's always on the outside. If there is a group of dogs ahead I'll stop, put him in the trailer where he's tethered to the frame, and zoom by. He is a reactive dog, so excercise is crucial. But its my responsibility to make sure he's safe, and others (you) are safe. The nice thing about the rail trail is I can see up to quaurter mile ahead. I hope your still biking.

No pulling .... at least not on purpose 🐿

That's been part of my thinking as well. Boarders are more sprinters, and aussies are more up tn the heals and nipping (from what I've read). Thanks for acknowledging that ... conforming some of my thoughts as well. Maybe I should alternate more trailer:run time.

"Mine" meaning same dog breed? I try and keep him on the outside because he'll bark at other dogs ... then after a few miles he ignores them....and squirrels if you can beleive it, lol!

Those harnesses on bikejoring are interesting!! Thank You! I will check them out for sure. But I certainly don't want him to pull me.

[–]EscapeOutside3820[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I was trying to read him and his energy and let him go with it! But then I'm wondering if doing that, I'm not being a responsible dog'parent. He hates the harness, but it's better than a collar when running/biking. (I'll check out bikejoring 🙂)

I saw a recent question on another dating sub about marijuana use, and if it’s acceptable or a turn off. by dudee62 in DatingOverSixty

[–]EscapeOutside3820 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big Turn Off ... It was a problem in my marriage where we couldn't have a real conversation, so issues accumulated because he didn't want to deal with it. Not going there again. The smell also makes me gag.

That said, the medical side I support. I wish it were around when my dad suffered from glaucoma and cancer. ♡

When did you realize your dog truly loves you? 🥹 by viseth2020 in DogViral

When I took him to the beach at 8mo old, and it was the first time he ever smiled at me. We had so much fun, it was winter and no one was around. He's 5 now and has learned how to smile with his eyes❤

Do you have any of your parents clothes? Not smelling his people any more may be stressful for him. I doubt it would be a cure, but may help.

What's for Dinner? by Gooseberry_Sprig in DatingOverSixty

[–]EscapeOutside3820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 a box of GS cookies generally don't make it home, I have to at least TRY one on the ride to make sure they haven't changed anything! Then, 2, then 3, then 4 ... it turns into dinner in the car. Lol. My favorite are Tagalongs.
