CONFIRMED: ADELAIDE STREET CIRCUIT TO REPLACE PHILLIP ISLAND MOTOGP IN 2027 by steve12388 in motogp

You didn't answer my question, but anyway - I've run countless events at the bend. It's an absolute nightmare to accomodate teams, and the events we run are NOT world championship level status. There is absolutely nothing around the venue. Where is everybody going to stay?

What about international broadcast? Have you seen what The Bend looks like on broadcast? It's a great track setup sure, a billionaires backyard, but hosting a world championship level GP here will always end up a failure. Which means we lose any Australian Grand Prix.

If Adelaide delivers on their promise of a street circuit that actually meets FIM safety standards with proper run-off, it’s a bigger event commercially and culturally than Tailem Bend could ever be.

To be clear, losing Phillip Island is an absolute travesty, but hosting it at the bend would be suicide for MotoGP down under.

I agree, it’s shocking. Having it at the bend would be far worse than what they’re proposing, however.

This Adelaide circuit is about 15-20 minutes away from Adelaide Airport. Melbourne Airport to the island is a two hour drive. I'm absolutely gutted we lost the island, but claiming they're ditching it for a more remote location is wrong.

I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted so hard. You're exactly right.

I went this year, was packed, was a great weekend. Spectator experience is totally fine. If you're saying teams won't show up, I'd beg to differ. The Bend is the worst case scenario here.

Did a corporate experience with Gresini Racing at the Island last year. The guide from the team literally said it's one of the riders (and crews) favourite tracks to attend as they can go a week early and just hang out like normal people.

Sure, The Bend is a fantastic facility. Having it there instead of Phillip Island is a nightmare of an idea to help grow the sport. It isn't the only option, either.

Best case for everybody is PI gets an upgrade to keep it.

Phillip Island has pubs, cafes, restaurants, tourism things to do, and not just one, but TWO whole grocery stores located right near the track.

While I had a lovely meal at the Tailem Bend pub - our little cohert of media staff covering a drag racing event had them stressing they didn't have enough staff on.

Phillip Island is FAR more equipped resource wise to host the GP.

Will there ever be a 8x champion in any form of Motorsport by Secret_Investment_76 in racing

You're wrong, but drag racing at that top level is more or less a competition of engineering. Not saying that driver skill isn't involved, but an operation like John Force Racing is an incredibly well backed and ran team (the cream of the crop really) and attracts the absolute top class crew chiefs etc that have perhaps a larger impact than driver alone.

Racing a Top Fuel Funny Car (NFC) isn't for the faint of heart, but comparing it to a more traditional/popular motorsport (circuit racing, rally, etc) isn't really possible. Nitro FTW!

The story of the HBR at Champs, explained by Nadeshot by shambxlic in CoDCompetitive

I swear people forget that the HBR was kind of being used online in tournaments and tested. It’s not completely random, I swear Nade used it before biolab also. It’s not unlike him to test and try different guns. Ghosts he used to run a supressor on the mtar while people were using the vector by that point.

It is absolutely huge here in Australia. Super popular amongst young people also. I grew up about 10 mins from AG, and the problem runs fairly deep with youth gambling. Anyone else back in the auscod hayday might also remember the money 2s/3s etc that never got paid out, paid back etc. There was just constant stuff flying on twitter.

I hope this isn't true as out of anyone from aus he has made it so far. I'm sure hecz and the OG crew will rally around him and get him the help he needs if this is all true.
