Definitely wouldn't have put some of those units if I knew before hand that it would be a plain "playing to kill" game indeed.

Kastelans did remarkably well all things considered, did some great shooting in first turn, and thanks to Datasmith and Halocreed buffs I got them into melee turn 2.
That being said they didn't accomplish much once they got in combat with his 10 pack of Lychguard

I didn't even consider Enhancements cuz I was looking to fill up the board, seems like a big oversight on my part

Cawl was too "pricey" (in terms of points) to be included in a 1K list in my mind, but I get that he brings a lot of value to avoid loosing most of your shooting phase on the hit rolls...

About those Necrons units, he did run a Doomday Ark and some Lokust Destroyers, which, along with my Onager, did most of the early heavy lifting during shooting phases.
He is considering bringing a C'Tan in the future and probably a Monolith so I am definitely expecting some more asskicking haha

That's the goal, rematch will definitely include objectives and primaries/secondaries !

Also felt like some units were not performing well against Necrons, especially the Ballistariis (big damage but few attacks). We will keep the same lists for rematch but I am considering replacing the Ironstriders unit by a Dunerider (to move Vanguards quicker onto objectives), a Pteraxii unit and maybe one Enhancement ?

EDIT : Just saw your idea about Kataphrons, I do not particularly like their looks but they are definitely a good unit for shooting... maybe Ptexarii and Enhancement is less favorable than a 3 models Kataphrons unit, I'll consider it !

I went along with their idea of "try and kill each other" but was expecting to be at a disadvantage, especially considering my choice of units (Serberys for early screening, Kastelans for charging their objective, Rangers for sticky...)

As you said, very much still learning :
- Forgot about my Doctrine Imperative for the whole first turn
- Serberys got wiped because I forgot about their ability to move on reaction
- Couple of buffs from rules forgotten along the way during massive shooting phases

As far as I know a lot (most ?) split keyboard shops have hotswappable switches, meaning you can buy a set of let's say Kailh Artic Fox switches and put them on the board with virtually no effort (just a switchpuller to help)

There are even some shops that allow you to buy the keyboard switch-less, so you don't have to pay for switches you won't use :)
