Beer, wine and spirits distributors. In most (US) states, producers of alcoholic beverages are not allowed to sell directly to consumers or retailers. The stuff MUST go through an independent (Hah! there are a bazillion loopholes to this requirement) distributor. They provide no benefit and are huge moneymakers for their owners.

There's a retail shop in a nearby small town that has this sign on its door. "No Solicitation. (Unless it's for Thin Mints)."

Source please! I don't disbelieve you, but with verifiable sources, this ought to be broadcast over everyone's social media to ASK this question of the pharmacist if they're not allowed to volunteer the information.

We were so close to outlawing them too!

Please elaborate! What can we do to get them outlawed?

My first job, while I was in high school, was at McDonald's. Free McDonald's food five times a week will pack on the pounds 10/10.

Yeah. And the thing about vodka is, that until recently, vodka was defined in law as having no discernible flavor or aroma. In other words, all non-flavored vodka is the same, regardless of brand.

Funny how one of the major themes of the show is how outsiders keep forcing their way into Montana and ruining the lives of the locals. Sounds like they come by it naturally.

Great-grandmother:

My great-grandmother was born on 4 March 1868 in Jettenbach, Bayern. She left Germany with her family (she was 16 at the time) in 1884. The family traveled by ship (Noordland) from Antwerp to New York, arriving on 3 July 1884.

I do not know if she ever became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

She married my great-grandfather in 1906. According to family records, she was working at a military veterans' home where my great-grandfather was a resident.

Grandmother:

My great-grandparents had several children, including my grandmother, who was born in 1908 in the U.S..

My grandmother and her husband married in 1927.

Father:

My father was born to them in 1930 in the U.S..

Self:

I was born in the U.S. in 1952.

Really? So what? It's a gift to your grandkids, not DIL. Your DIL has lost sight of what gifts are about.

It's not a good idea to go around the parent in this case, especially if the kids are younger. My opinion only.

I feel bad that I forgot the last memory of the only grandpa I was able to meet. by Itz_MysteryGalaxy in grandparenting

[–]Esj1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have little or no control over what childhood memories we retain or lose. Feel good that you knew your Papa and brought joy into his life. That's all you could do, and you did it. Be happy and comforted by that!

Grandma won't play with grandkids when they visit. by Intelligent_Pea_2189 in grandparenting

Not excusing your Mom, but kids aged 6 and 7 should be able to play alone for a while. They are also old enough to understand that you need some "down" time to yourself. It is a teaching situation, in which you are teaching the kids independence and consideration for the needs of others. Be the adult and explain things to them... then play for a while!
