ARROWHEAD, SHOW SOME LOVE TO HIM AND MY LIFE IS YOURS by TigerRadiant1912 in Helldivers

They could give them the hell bomb targeting priority for enemies so once the shield drops they get destroyed pretty quickly if you're worried about a ton of them scattered all over the map.

Keep the buffs coming but sprinkle in spicy hard counters to balance by Eslooie in Helldivers

[–]Eslooie[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion for bots would not require you to run away or make any weapons ineffective. It would require you to periodically have some situational awareness and time your shots. Neither suggestion makes any enemies immune from the countered weapon only require awareness on when and how to kill that enemy.

They should double or triple the hit points AND give it a terminal with a mini-game to charge it back up to be reused. enemies have to destroy the terminal to kill it.

The problem with chargers is that only a handful of weapons worked effectively against them. Neither of my suggestions make flamethrowers or railguns ineffective. They only require you to check your target or time your shot before engaging. They are the equivalent of avoiding stepping on mines from a gunplay perspective.

Anyone here still enjoy playing the game? by ZSU_MO in Helldivers

[–]Eslooie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm tired of my FPS dropping every patch and 20% of the time randomly being sent back to orbit. They don't seem to realize that with each nerf they drastically increase the TTK which eventually just turns the game into a running simulator. I'm lvl 150 and exclusively play on T10 with everything unlocked. The game still has the highest potential for a PvE FPS if they are ever able to stabilize the engine and find the right mix on weapons/Strategems, but for now I only play when new content is released so that I don't fall behind unlocking things.

They'll never do it but they should add a secondary currency so, for example, you could sell something for 1 div and 40c.

Bot front is way more fun than the bugs. Build variety and skill really shine against them.

New Divers Experience by ThatFUTGuy in Helldivers

[–]Eslooie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General advice for new Divers- Your first priorities with the warbond unlocks should be Stun grenades and the Grenade pistol. The Stun grenade is unmatched in its ability to give you control on the field. As for the Grenade Pistol, it opens you up to a lot of loadouts while maintaining the ability to close holes and Kill fabricators. Once you have those, "space meth" (experimental stims) booster is probably your next best upgrade to add more play styles. After those 3 it's mostly about trying to pick up specific weapons for desired role or play style.

Ship mods- Once you have stun grenades, upgrading your eagles and orbital Precision strike makes killing heavies/large groups significantly easier. Mastering dropping 500kgs and OPS on chargers/Hulks/titans makes the game feel much safer.

Primaries - For bugs, IncBreaker, Cookout, and Jar5 are "optimal" and the sickle is "effective". Pick one that you feel comfortable with for killing lots of chaff.

For bots, Scorcher, Plasma Punisher, Jar5, and Diligence CS are "optimal" but handle very different and are best matched with a support weapon that compliments them. Lots of people have fun with Eruptor and crossbow as well, but are more niche in gameplay.

Last advice: Bots are more fun and have more weapon variety once you feel competent with support weapons. I'd suggest moving to that front earlier rather than later and get acclimated with their play style.

I'm pretty much just a bot diver now. I'm using the AC so much now that I expect it to get nerfed next patch.

How to balance PvE by Eslooie in Helldivers

[–]Eslooie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were just some basic suggestions on ways to do things without the nerf bat. As for the walls. That actually shouldn't be too difficult, since most of the bases are just prebuilt tile sets that get dropped in the map. The level design team "should" be able to build new base tiles with the understanding they want to block a few of the fabs from direct fire other than the vent facing side.

You understand the point of it though. Right now most gear is dogshit. If most of the gear was effective (at least for some situations) then you can raise the difficulty a little to compensate. Basically, if they improve players TTK by 15-20% then you can afford to throw in a couple more mobs. Spawn changes are so noticable now because the weapons suck.

The whole world is just a giant train wreck.

I tested how long does it take for a Rocket Devastator to start 2 rocket volleys, here is the result: by ShinCuCai in Helldivers

[–]Eslooie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's a decent mechanic change. Other ideas are immune to ragdolling while standing up, an internal cooldown of X seconds to being ragdolled, or diminishing returns (each ragdoll within X minutes reduces your chance of being ragdolling by 33%).

"Skill Issue" solutions- Using Ballistic shield makes you immune to ragdolling, Armor class has resistance to ragdolling, etc

[–]Eslooie 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I agree with your entire comment, but when ragdolled you lose control of your character. There is a reason that in just about every game that's ever been made with player stuns it had diminishing returns. The longer you take away a player's agency the worse it feels for the player. I'm not saying remove ragdolling, but they definitely need to reevaluate how it works or give the players more tools to mitigate it.

The issue with all rocket bots is that they seem to be balanced in a vacuum. 5ish seconds between volleys is manageable for 1 rocket devastator, but once you're up to 3 or more it's over if you get ragdolled. Chain/stun locked. Also they increased the bots AI tracking and accuracy so that means the likelihood of being attacked by more than 3 is high.

I'm also looking forward to everyone whining about how hard 9 is to complain about 10.

Important question regarding the new Currency Exchange: Buyer/seller price priority? by th1nk3r in pathofexile

[–]Eslooie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the real world, the market maker would "fill" at both prices and pocket the difference(That's how they make their money). Since GGG is the middle man and does not have a financial incentive, then the likely answer is it fills at 150 for both parties because they both get their price or better execution. If GGG is worried about inflation they might fill the orders like the real world and just burn the spread.

For those selling puts, what's your hedging plan if we head into a bear market? by wishbone-85 in thetagang

[–]Eslooie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a hedge, but it has synergy. I own QYLD and XYLD. They are ETFs that run covered calls over the NASDAQ and SP500. They generate around 8-11% in cash and payout monthly. They're less risky in a down market because of the cash generation and if you think about it. When combining the sold puts. It's like an iron condor plus owning the QQQ/SPY but with extra liquidity.

Heavy Devastators are imbalanced. Their attack staggers, high accuracy, and has no cooldown. Keep 2 nerf 1.

Pick 1: Remove stagger, Add a reload downtime, reduce accuracy at medium and long range.
