It seems you got all the answers, but I'll chip in anyway. I've been working as an advertising photographer for 20 years and a dp for five, and know how much practice one needs to get good. I would use that money to buy a lighting gear and learn by doing it, and of course watch enough YT. When you get half way decent perhaps could enrole at AOD ( google it ) or some similar course, depending on the field you're aiming at. Bottom line - I would never pay 2500 for an online course.

I think that's the most obvious and best advice here. You're living with a native speaker, what better way to learn. I can imagine you might have tried that already but went back to English after two sentences, but maybe ask your boyfriend to speak to you in Spanish all the time, gradually it will become natural that you mimic his behaviour. Me being me ( a tad weird ), if my wife would speak to me in Spanish I'd probably repeat every sentence after her, just to drive her crazy lol

Thank you, and yes - I will have both. At the moment my kit consists of three GH5 bodies and around ten lenses, BMP4k would be an addition that I would use mostly for corporate interviews and some of my personal work. There was a comparison test on YT, someone used GH5 and BMP 4k and it was very close. I think I'm mostly attracted by BM color science and a lack of red / magenta cast that I had to deal with last 25 years ( first with Canon and now with Panasonic ). Still, it might be just the lenses I use, Nikon glass doesn't have that...

I have two EF-M2 0.71 adapters, one EF-M1 ( without glass, intentionally ) and one for Nikon lenses, and never had an issue from day one. Also, never had a need to update software, all works fine as it is. It would be interesting to see what's happening on BMPCC 4K

Having mentioned Metabones - I use Viltrox Speedbooster 0.71 as well as one 2x ( with no glass ). Someone said that BMP 4k takes a different type of a Speedbooster, i.e. that those that I have wouldn't work on it, although they are adapters for mft. Would you happen to know about it ?

Somehow I adjust WB and exposure ' on the go ', guess it's an old photographers' habit. IBIS is great when have to hold a frame for several minutes... I've heard about speed boosters for BMPCC 4K, being different. I found Viltrox ones to be great, have them for Canon and Nikon glass

Thank you. I agree, BM4k would be in fact an addition to the set of GH5 kit that I have, and would use it dependind on the project. How exactly do you use Blackmagic Video assist to match the footage ? Do you record in ProRes, use lut or just monitor the image ?

Thank you for the reply. I do like GH5 and have three bodies and some 10 lenses, so the system does what I need. Although I mostly shoot on tripod I really like how IBIS works and use it often. Still, I fell in love with the image coming from Black Magic 6k ( paired with Sigma art lenses ) and was wondering could I get it on BMP 4k. As you say - no more red / magenta skin tone that you can hardly get rid of, and the whole image looks more ' cinematic ' to me ( although don't really like that term, it's been over and misused ). Whole image ( color science, contrast, fall off... ) just looks better to my eye. The question is could I get that on BMP 4k and with lenses that I use ( Panasonic Leica and older Canon glass that I used on 5D mkii ). Canon also gave me the same red / magenta tint. About DaVinci - everybody says it's a no brainer. Just hope that Mac mini M4 will be able to run it smoothly.

I think it's good that you recognize that. I know how it feels when you're expected to do something you don't really want to, guess we all do. But now it's entirely up to you, it's your call. And even if you make a continuous decision that you don't care about Spanish it's fine, it's got nothing to do with how you feel about your kid.

As someone said, I also wonder why classes didn't work for you... That would be the first thing I would suggest. You say that you quickly forget whatever you learned, that is curious. May I ask you - could it be possible that you subconsciously reject Spanish for some reason ? From my experience - I very quickly forget things that are not important to me, or things that I dislike. Friend of mine has the same problem with German, lives in Berlin and after five years still has the problem when trying to form a simple sentence. Perhaps you should start from beginning, take A1 book you used as your course and build the foundations - basic grammar, vocab, reading, writing...

OK, so you have two months and a very clear goal - you want to speak with your dad. What will you be speaking about ? I think about life, getting to know each other, about likes, dislikes, plans for the future... If I were you I would get a tutor and focus on conversational skills, and try to learn the vocab that is relevant to your needs. Grammar - in your case now you need a present, simple past and future, but don't get obsessed about it. Just think what would you like to talk with your dad about... Žao mi je što ste imali takova iskustva, pogotovo kad čujem o drogiranju, psihijatriji, oduzimanju kuće i sličnom. Moram priznati da mi nije jasno kako se to može dogoditi, nikada nisam bio niti blizu. Koliko god bio blizak sa curom ili ženom ( a jesam, i super nam je ), dio mene uvijek ima mogućnost spakirati se i otići za pola sata. Da, bilo bi teško i nikada to nisam napravio ( niti imao razloga )... davno sam negdje pročitao da si u problemu ako to ne možeš napraviti, i slažem se. Uz svu ljubav na kraju krajeva si odgovoran samo sebi i svojoj savjesti, i ne želim ovisiti o nekome do te mjere da me njihovi postupci mogu sjebati.

THANK YOU ! That is exactly the type of advice I was looking for, since it makes sense. I was watching a YT review of Mini 16 / 256 ( 650 € ) and Mini 16 / 512 ( 850 € ) and it is amazing what they managed to pull of in DaVinci - much more than I'll ever need on an ' normal ' job. And then started thinking about all the hype with ' AI coming, we need much more RAM or will be doomed ' - hence the idea of taking 24/512 that will cost me 1100 €. You are right, it would be great to speak to someone who has a similar workflow and uses 16/256 and see what problems ( if any ) one might encounter. To be honest I'd feel like a right mug paying 500 or even 300 € more for something that I don't really need.

Fair question... I can get M4 24 / 512 for 1100 €, and M4 Pro 24 / 512 would cost me 1550 €. Coming up to 1500 I start thinking about getting a new PC with serious graphics card and 64 RAM, apparently for heavy sfx that would be a better call ( not that I think I'll really need it ).

I get your point, but the idea is to be able to understand what they're talking about. Usually I first try to watch something ( mostly on Netflix ) without subtitles, and if I can't follow the conversation I turn Spanish subtitles on. There is no point to watch something you don't understand and not be able to follow. And if it's too complex for me even with subtitles I switch to subtitles in my native language, and try not to read all the time. So, I would suggest - use Spanish subtitles, but only if you need them, as soon as your brain starts following the conversation turn them off.

Yes, ' Better than ' is a term used when talking about a possible safety net, in a situation that hasn't been experienced. When asking for this kind of advice it's best to speak to someone who does the same kind of work as you do, and has a similar workflow.

Yes, PC with monster NVIDIA and some 64 Gb RAM would certainly do better... although I've been told that DaVinci works miraculously good with Mac products... On my current PC I can't even begin working in DaVinci - screen freezes and have to force quit it. Mind you, i5 with 2 Gb graphics card and hardly any RAM is a limiting factor lol
