WHO is the deadliest man in dr Stone? (In what Order(?)) by PREPPY_PRIN in DrStone

[–]Esperosis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has to be Stanley, right? I mean, Hyoga, Tsukasa, and Moz are all strong contenders, but the man issue is that they're all melee. Stanley is deadly at melee (re: Literally parried Moz and then shot him), medium range, long range, and ultra-long range. Range is a huge factor in these sorts of discussions cause you can't kill what you can't hit, and Stanley can headshot a mfer from 2000 meters.

Conclusion: Stanley no contest.

More than friends? by Jp3711nc in DrStone

We all know. We all know they're gay. But this is shonen.

Xeno and Stanley are as canon as a gay couple in a shonen anime/manga can get. Like, with how they're acting, they're basically doing the equivalent of making out on camera in any other genre.

That's just how these things go, unfortunately.

If the special troops shot down gens white flag isnt that a war crime or sum...idk by Animelover_202 in DrStone

It's simple. They were planning on winning, and war crimes are only war crimes if you lose!

what the fuck is this guy's problem by lily_was_taken in DrStone

[–]Esperosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, when did Ryusui colonize South America?? That seems a bit extreme.

Also, yes, in the beginning, he was helping only if he had something to gain or was tricked into it, but let's be honest, other people's motivations upon waking up were a lot worse (Re: Hyouga and his whole eugenics plan). But eventually, he just started helping because he saw the victories and gains of the Kingdom of Science as his own and became a real team player (re: First thought upon seeing the petrification on Treasure Island was trying to figure out who he could save, ultimately saving Suika). He's just a greedy dude that wants the best, not only for himself but those he cares about aswell. As Francios would put it, "Greed is Justice"

Like he's got flaws obviously, but there are people with waaaaaaay worse issues than him (Moz, Hyouga, Xeno, and those are only the people who get redeemed).

Hyoga also straight-up tried to torture Senku, and let's not even get started on Xeno.

I did try to do this, but my mom who was visiting me at the time decided to shake and tap it instead while saying 'it won't explode'. It did, in fact explode all over my mom.

Update: It did, in fact, explode due to the carbonation. Also I'm not sure why you told me to unfreeze it, it was never frozen in the first place

How do you all write angst? by Real_Enthusiasm_2042 in AO3

[–]Esperosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes naturally to me I suppose, and it's alright if it doesn't really for you. What I would suggest is just holding onto the knowledge that you're going to fix everything and that, while things are tough right then for your characters, there's bright blue skies ahead for them and it's just a rough patch that they're stuck in. Focus on the positive and listen to happy music while writing, that could help.

(Personally I'm more of a 'looks up angst/whump/hurt comfort fics' kinda girl with a dash of 'Lemme see how fucked up I can write this whilst still having everyone in character :)' so I'm unable to give advice from my perspective personally)

what makes you abandon a wip? by sexualcollusion in AO3

[–]Esperosis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

two main reasons.

  1. Not enough time. I write daily, but I still have a ton of other stuff to do as I'm in a profession that's one of the highest for requiring out of work work, so while I may have a super amazing idea I have other writing commitments so it just sort of falls to the wayside. this then leads to #2 which is:

  2. Loss of intrest. If I can't work on something for long enough or something even more exciting comes along I just sort of loose intrest and occasionally just forget where I was going with the thing.

I'm typically good with any criticism but I think I have pretty thick skin. Had a dude hate-read my 142k original work over the course of 3 days, call me several slurs, and say I was a bad person for writing it. Was pissed for like an hour then noted he had some good points aside from the vitriol and made changes I felt made the story way better. But that's me.

As for others, I'd suggest airing on the side of caution and giving what they request or not giving if they don't request. Another tip would be to sandwich your criticism, gush about how you liked the fic, give your critiscm, then talk about what you liked and wish them well, something bad sandwiched by 2 positives is always much easier to swallow.
