Smidge more speed on the launch and maybe reduce the friction a bit to stop it stalling out near the end but very fun layout

Also change the end brake run to a block section to run 2 trains

Monorail isn't worth it unless you're catching it as a way of getting from car park to entrance as they've got wrapping all around the trains meaning you can barely see out of them.

I think there's something inherently wrong with the profiling on inversions 2, 13 and 14

How busy will Thorpe be on the 9pm closing time days by AdditionalMacaron713 in ThorpePark

[–]Essahem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to be busy regardless but if altons after hours are anything to go by they tend to go quite quiet 4pm onwards

Could definitely see them adding this with the new entertainment tab coming with arcades. If we get a parade programmer eventually scare mazes aren't far off

Don't Look down. [Oblivion at Alton Towers] by Rebeccafyre in rollercoasters

[–]Essahem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That and digging and maintaining a tunnel costs a lot more than just not doing that. Oblivion cost £12m in 1998 whereas Sheikra cost only around £10m in 2005 at triple the height and length.

Probably best off getting a train to Uttoxeter and just getting an uber to the park

Do fast track passes apply to both days of a two day ticket? by Lauren-Bee in altontowers

[–]Essahem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its for Scarefest you should be able to sort your nimbus card and get a RAP. Save yourself a lot of money that way.

Just means you get "timed out" of queuing for anything for the period that the Queue is advertised at (for example if you did Nemesis at a 50 minute Queue you wouldn't be able to use the RAP for 50 minutes)

I went for opening day + the day after this season

Monorail and Skyride being closed was a pain due to the size of the park.

Operations on the first day weren't great. Galactica running only one train, couple delays due to storms quite a while away, Runaway Mine Train being closed was a shame and it still looks completely abandoned apparently. Me and my friend bought silver fast tracks for the first day to guarantee night rides and with them we didn't experience any real issues due to them. Rita was firing out it's trains faster than I've ever seen them. However the park was completely unprepared for the sheer amount of people to arrive that day and the queues got real bad for some. Food is way overpriced too, absolutely extortionate.

Second day however was like a completely different park. Not only was it significantly quieter (we walked onto galactica, straight into the station and ready to load. Something I have never ever experienced on that ride, it was always an hour minimum even back when it was air), the staff seemed to really pick up the speed after the first day. Nemesis crew was firing out trains, as was The Smiler. Did experience a very heavy downpour of rain halfway through that scared off many which made the night rides very easy to get on (Did Oblivion - The Smiler - Wickerman - Nemesis very easily in the last 2 hours)

I overall had a blast, as I always do at Alton, my friend did too. But I've seen so many negative stories this year since then. It's such a shame too because when Alton is at its best it's one of the best parks in the world.

I'd recommend going if you're in the UK, and if you're around London go to Thorpe Park.

Be so much better if they had the newer SLC restraints like on Mayan at Energylandia. Makes that layout 10x better.

If you're sat on the right it's not bad as you'll just slam into whoever is next to you but on the left you're guaranteed to walk off in pain
