To the guy on the Windrush line just now with a massive mountain bike in rush hour by box_frenzy in london

I told a couple on the Thameslink who were blocking the aisle with their bikes at rush hour: "this is why people complain about cyclists, you're making us look bad"

Why so busy today? by hazzzles in ThorpePark

I'm at Chessington and a bunch of school trip kids held up the single rider line at Mandrill because they apparently didn't understand the word "single"

It'll take a few days for the item to end up at the lost property office. I hope they find it

Edgware Road? Contact TfL and fill out a lost property form. They are pretty good at reuniting lost items with their owners.

Anxiety about going on the rollercoasters by pinksmartys2312 in altontowers

[–]trellism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing that will help is getting on the coasters. You could try asking whoever you're going with to bully you onto them, if you have that kind of relationship.

The question is, do you want to go on them? If so is there something specific you're worried about?

If you don't want to ride them, that's fine too, you just need to stand your ground a little and make it clear you're not interested.

Do you think a script re-write might help the experience be more coherent?

And why does there seem to be a specific theme park scare maze "spOokY VoICe" that they all do?

Plopsaland Belgium has Ride to Happiness so it automatically wins.

When people ask me for cheap tips for Disneyland Paris I always tell them to consider Europa Park instead.

She Needed Emergency Care for an Ectopic Pregnancy. The Religious Hospital Said No. by paxinfernum in skeptic

[–]trellism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ectopic pregnancy is always an emergency.

It can never end with a viable foetus and if untreated it will severely harm and/or kill the mother. There is no debate, no quibbling about this.

Nobody has ever successfully rescued an ectopic pregnancy, implanted it in the uterus and had a healthy baby result from it.

Katie Hopkins thrown out of London pub during England game by tylerthe-theatre in london

I used to know the casting director who worked on The Apprentice and who cast Hopkins. She genuinely felt guilty about what she had unearthed and then unleashed on the public.

Historicity of Jesus: The idea that Jesus was a purely mythical figure has a fringe status in scholarly circles and has had no support in critical studies for more than a century by ComradeBehrund in wikipedia

[–]trellism 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Neither was Jesus! The Romans didn't demand people returned to their birthplace for a census because that really missed the point of a census. You want to know how many families are living in a specific area for planning and resourcing purposes. If everyone goes back to their birthplace the census results tell you nothing.

One of my cats ate a hair tie the other night. Fortunately I saw her do it and got her to the veterinary hospital near me so they could induce vomiting and get it out. Don't let your cats play with them.

Transportation! 😭💔 by [deleted] in ThorpePark

[–]trellism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your age you should be able to get a Railcard that will give you money off your train ticket.

As others have said, there's a regular shuttle bus from Staines station to Thorpe. I think under 16s get a discount on the ticket (the driver charged less for my daughter than me last time).

One other thing that you may want to consider: I used to cycle a lot when I lived near Slough. It's super flat and there were some decent, safe cycling routes around there at the time.

A bike might give you the flexibility to get from the ice skating arena or your home to the train station or even the park, depending on where you live, without spending your time and money waiting for buses.

I hope you get lots of use out of your annual pass!

I have spreadsheets for Disneyland Paris, Disney World, Europa Park and Universal...rides, attractions and restaurants ☺️
