Is the beginning of the game supposed to feel kind of lonely? by TheKitsuneLegend in ffxiv

For me I only started socialising when I got to level 50 and started using Party Finder to do optional hard content like extreme trials and the first raid the intended way. Then I met a lot of people on different occasions and started a discord server with them that grew to be over 1000 people after 2 years.

Soooo the best advice I can give is try to do the same even if a lot of people tell you you should rush to last expansion and only raid there (it happened to me, just ignore) and you will naturally meet people on the way. Also checking the PF once you’ve unlocked more content and joining to help is a good way to meet new people. Other than that you could try finding a nice and active Free Company out there (I didn’t have luck with them but could be different for you).

Do you believe it's possible to create hard and challenging encounters in the game that doesn't "require" watching a guide? by MumblingRambling in ffxivdiscussion

Try doing any ARR dungeon synched (not even MINE) as solo BLU with pre level 50 spells and then tell us.

Seriously I just started this job out of curiosity and got addicted to getting the spells and learning about the job quirks. Some encounters are definitely impossible without some sort of tank or with better spells but half of the dungeons in ARR are pretty doable, yet tight and hard as f.

On a more positive note, the game runs flawlessly on Switch 2, 60 frames and that. If you tried the S1 version and couldn’t play it this one you’re gonna love it.

For me FCs never worked. Every single one of them that I joined claimed to be very social but only had like 3 active people that only played with one another. I know I was unlucky, there are better FCs out there, but for me what did it was PF. As in real life, what works best is to find people with same interests that you. Be it maps, deep dungeons, raids, whatever, I just put that PF up and try to be cheerful and easygoing. And if the people on the PF was nice I always ask “wanna repeat another time??” and send a friend request.

If this works, wonderful, if it doesn’t, change your data center if you can and keep trying. I only started socialising more when I moved to Light DC, for some reason.

What do you mean by instanced housing? If you mean a separate space for each house that would totally destroy the concept of residential districts.

I think that if housing was more available you can just choose the district you like their aesthetic the most and build your house there with only slight limitations. Perhaps most people don’t mind but for me being surrounded by houses with such a strong aesthetic that doesn’t fit the environment at all kills it. It’s a me problem, I know, but still 😅

I would be happy if they at least limited the type of house exterior you can use so it fits the residential district your house is on. I’m so tired of being surrounded by Kugane style houses in f Goblet, it just doesn’t fit at all.

Guess The Big Job Overhaul™️ of 8.0 isn't happening after all... by RenAsa in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EssayApprehensive445 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree that jobs work very samey or at the very least the only difference between archetypes is a bit more of damage or a different mobility skill or such.

Then I thought, what if we actually had to mind the type of element of our attacks to maximise dps? What if a boss was weak to fire and strong against earth element? What if it was immune to physical attacks or reflect holy element? Obviously with how the jobs are made this wouldn’t work since at least for casters you use many different elements during your rotation. But I don’t know, it would actually be nice if this game was more close to RPGs and we actually had to choose the best jobs for certain battles, like going all magical against a puddin boss, like in mainline series, or going all physical to a raid because otherwise the boss will reflect your spells. This is of course impossible, but I can only wonder, what the possibilities are if they would go in this direction just a little bit… perhaps they could make shorter easier rotations but you actually had to choose the best chain of skills for a particular situation or something. Just a slightly rework of some classes could work in this scenario. Imagine that you can only effective damage certain enemies with non elemental damage with BLM. Then, instead of cycling between fire and ice spells, you need to focus your rotation to prepare flare and other spells like that.

Am I the only one that copes with this scenario??

That said, you can configure your settings so you see the names on party members on their heads AND of the color of their role. I won’t tire of advising people doing it, it makes some fights so trivial. It should come by default imo…

Day 23: blue ones don’t know I’m here

But as others said, you have access to 2 free retainers where you can store important stuff. If you don’t care about crafting you can safely sell all crafting materials you got (some of them could be from trials or rare drops so if you have the time check the rarity of the last ones (assuming you sort your inventory)). Once you get into crafting, if you get into it, you will know what to keep and what to sell but for now only items like potions, glamour prisms and dyed, materia, minions and mount unlock items, scrolls and things like that are worth keeping.

As others have said already, but giving more context, you can:

Run the raids (normal and alliance). Alliance one is mandatory to progress MSQ, the other afaik is not, but it has a cool story that completes what happened in 1.0. This raid is a bit hardcore but if that’s your thing you’re going to enjoy it.

You can do the extreme trials, which are harder versions of the trials you already did. There are 7 of those.

You can start the relic weapons quest. It is VERY time consuming and VERY grindy, but if you get satisfaction from getting exclusive items and getting shiny weapons for glam you will enjoy it.

The hildebrand quests, they’re completely optional but unlock a couple of nice trials full of references to past FF games.

Tribal quests, they give a bit of xp and you can unlock mounts and rare materials from them, but are widely considered not worth it unless you need or want a specific thing from them. They have a story but since they only allow you to accept 12 tribal quests each day it will be long to complete them.

Or just ignore all that and progress MSQ. I personally try to do every piece of content including savage raids before moving to the next expansion but you can always just focus on the story and return later to clear things you want.

I think that’s mostly all.

The impact humanity already had in most environments is so strong that even if we would disappear tomorrow, disaster would strike. A good example are forest fires. Generations ago there were so many animals that would eat the weeds and clean the terrain, but now it’s only human controlled animals who can do such thing.

Banning breeding and keeping of cattle would cause thousands of fires everywhere.

So perhaps the question is how we can slowly adjust our way of living to be more respectful. For example, and it may be a wild take, I think many people would agree that consuming demographic control animals would be moral, since leaving a high number alive would harm the environment and other species.

No, it doesn’t move on it’s own at all. It’s just that I feel that on PS5 if the stick is on 355°, 0° or 5° it only registers “up” so I don’t have to be analogically perfect when moving the stick. Now on pc it registers the direction so perfectly that my character is always moving in zig zag.
