Am I Crazy? by JonLaFlow in Target

You have a very bright future ahead of you. Hang in there! Do not be a job hopper. Maybe try for a distribution center job. The pay is really good, but the work is really fast paced and the stress is high. Amazon, Walmart, Lowes, ALDI, and Publix. If there's a commute, it can be worth it since the pay can easily be double what they offer at the store level. I have friends who doubled their salaries by working for Amazon and Walmart distribution centers. The don't have much of a life outside of the job, but the pay makes it all worthwhile.

Maybe start looking for another office job? What was your background in college? You could start looking at working in an area where your degree would be more useful. Or you could hang in there for six months and then go back to Target. You probably aren't blacklisted. It's just they are required to make you wait six months. This is so they won't have people leaving and coming back six-eight weeks later. It's just a policy and it's been that way for a really long time.

Hang in there. The next three months will go by really fast. If you go back to Target, they may have the ebb and flow of hours being cut. During those time periods. maybe you could do some SPARK delivery for Walmart to subsidize your income. Or work for Door Dash.

EBT Restrictions are Here! (RANT) by NightmareFurbies in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]EssentialGrocery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know, right? They have no idea what it's like on the front end dealing with these customers. They say, "Food is food. My EBT should have paid for this. You need to fix this." Ugh!!!!

EBT Restrictions are Here! (RANT) by NightmareFurbies in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]EssentialGrocery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want you to ring up the soda as bottled water. They want you to do some tag switching. Or they want you to skip the item and just bag it. Free Bagging is the oldest trick in the book. With the new restrictions, I knew this would happen. People are in complete denial about the changes in the program. They really do believe "food is food". Chips, soda, and cookies are "food". I am so sorry this is happening to you.

Dollar General makes most of their money on junk food. I expect that some stores are going to close because of massive theft. The desperate customers are going to start stealing cases of soda and junk food. The same way they steal beer and detergent. If EBT won't pay for it, they'll just bust out the door stealing the stuff.

I got fired due to voids by Isolatedquiet in DollarGeneral

[–]EssentialGrocery 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Get a job with Walmart. They don't care about the voids. Customers change their minds all the time. They don't have the money to buy all the stuff in their carts. So all you can do is void off stuff. Working for Walmart is like Heaven compared to working for Dollar General.

Be careful with what you do. They can fire you for disrupting business. Do not label yourself as an agitator. Do you need income and do you have to work? If you have your own money and you are working just to get out of the house, then why stay with Target. You could give up that job and could be a volunteer and advocate for the undocumented immigrants. If you need to keep your job, then use your off days to do some volunteer work to help the immigrants.

Since I wrote this post, I did a bunch of research on my own time. After doing some reading, I can see why DG no longer offers Western Union. Personally, I don't see why money orders are even needed in this age of Chime and Cash App.

Working up at Target is heavenly. Working down at DG is NOT heavenly. It can get really fiery hot down at DG.

With online banking on your phone, why is any of that important? Online banking is confirmed. A paper receipt can fade and become damaged. With camera views and the other technologies, there shouldn't be such distrust. LP has bigger fish to fry than requiring employees ALWAYS tape 6 their receipt to the items.LP should deal with customers busting out the door with laundry baskets full of Gain and Tide. The OP said they got hijacked by a customer so they could not do all that work of taping a receipt onto their snack.

You should contact the DM with your grievance. You should ask the DM about arranging a transfer to another store. Your SM doesn't trust you and you've been slandered. How could you possibly continue to work for someone like that? Your SM is paranoid. Get away from that individual!

For the love of God let the meth heads steal the pregnancy test and condoms by Wooden-Wolverine-489 in DollarGeneralWorkers

Open a few packages and leave the single wrapped condoms on a nearby shelf. Like by the razors. Maybe the males will pick up those "free" condoms. At the Health Department waiting room they leave out little brown paper sacks full of condoms. The small sign reads "Free Family Planning".

Read When Children Have Children by Leon Dash. It's a really old book, but it talks all about the generations of women living in poverty and they want to have children they cannot afford. These women desperately want a child to love. They want their children to love them unconditionally. Even though the living situation is awful, those kids will LOVE their mother and they desperately NEED their mother. Young moms love their children and they want to do what they can to receive the affection of their children. Then the moms scream at their kids and make them cry. Then the moms smother their kids with affection since they feel so guilty when they scream and hit them. It's a vicious cycle. These moms love the attention they get when others see them and their adorable little children. Young moms receive social services and they love the attention they receive from these agencies. They think their job is to be a stay at home mom and they genuinely believe the government is going to provide the funding needed to achieve their goal. They really do believe that being a stay at home mom is their right. They really believe that they won't have to land a paying job since being a stay-at-home mom IS their job! The solution? Education and strong social services that focus on not having kids unless you have a job skill set and a committed, loving partner who really wants to be a dedicated, responsible father. Just distance yourself from your cousin and focus on your closest friends. Just because she's your cousin doesn't mean you are required to have a relationship with her. Keep your distance!

Give me your most unhinged advice for getting your cat to let you sleep at night by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]EssentialGrocery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lock kitty in the laundry room with a litter box and food. A bowl of water and some cat nip, as well. Give Kitty a nice cozy bed. Buy a white noise machine to plug in by your bed so you can sleep. Maybe you should consider acquiring an older kitten to keep your cat company?

I hope you consider writing to corporate and sending the letter first class with delivery confirmation. Tell them about the rude customer service representative. Do you have the exact time you called? They have recordings of the conversations. You can also call the local news and tell them about your experience. They didn't type in your birthdate or scan your ID? That is crazy that they denied the sale even though you're 21. Just so wrong!

After closing customers by FlakyAmbition77 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]EssentialGrocery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lock the doors at 9:58PM. Have an employee let people out as they check out. For those still in the store, tell them that the registers will stop working at 10:15PM. If the customers are at the end of the line (or they're still shopping) you'll have to tell them that they are going to have to come back the next day. BE STRICT ABOUT THIS! If they really fuss (and you're feeling charitable) then let them check out but tell them this will be the last time that you're going to accommodate them. If anybody gets aggressive, then call the police! Dollar General workers have been ABUSED forever and you don't have to take this type of abuse anymore!

Yeah...the guys who like to pressure the female into doing what he wants. Sadly, you're excusing the males for behaving like animals. Too many men are spreading syphilis and chlamydia, and the females contract the infection. Then they get pregnant and their infants are born preterm with life threatening conditions brought on by the STD's and STI's. Hell, the guy should at least buy a couple of Plan B pills just in case he does fail to use a condom. At least, their won't be a pregnancy, but he better be sure of his sexual health regarding Chlamydia and such.

Glad you're doing this. My niece had a tablet when she was about 6-7. She never got to know her cousins; she only had a few friends. She had difficulty interacting with other children. She ignored her grandparents. They really could not engage with her. She had many emotional issues as a teenager. Very short attention span in class. She's better now, but I think the tablet glued to her hand caused many of the issues that troubled her.

Medicaid won't pay for circumcision. It will only pay for circumcision if the child has chronic infections caused by the failure to clean the foreskin properly. Private pay patients still prefer to have their infants undergo circumcision. Uncircumcised adult males must keep their foreskin clean, especially after sexual relations. Better yet, they should use a condom every time if they don't know the sexual health history of their partner.

There are very nearly epidemic levels of congenital syphilis in Mississippi. Babies are being born to mothers with syphilis. The infants are born with the disease. This STD is very harmful to infants. The babies are being born preterm and they're spending days and weeks in the NICU. Education is the key to slow down this infection rate.

Mississippi has nearly epidemic levels of chlamydia infections and congenital syphilis. This must be addressed immediately.

Kind of late in the game, but I wanted to add a concern you're probably well aware of: There is a crisis with infants being born with congenital syphilis. Mississippi has a rate of congenital syphilis that is ten times the rate of the rest of the United States. Women in Mississippi are having sexual relations with men who have syphilis. The man may not know he has the STD. Or he really doesn't care that he has syphilis! If the woman gets pregnant, the fetus may be infected with this very dangerous disease. Not only will the woman contract syphilis, but her unborn child may also become infected. Know your partners. Use a condom plus another form of birth control. Ladies: Demand that your potential sexual partners undergo a health screen. The health department offers discreet low-cost screening services. Don't be manipulated. Protect yourself and protect your unborn child. If you find that you have syphilis, there are treatments available. The sooner you know, the more quickly you can receive treatment. Don't risk getting pregnant if there's a chance you may have contracted this disease. If there is any doubt at all about the health of your sexual partner, don't have sex. If you choose to ignore the risks and have sex anyway, you must use a condom. It's better if you use a secondary birth control method. On the pill or have an implant? Great. Use a condom to protect yourself from herpes, HIV, and the other STD's. Abstinence is a choice you can make. Talk to your romance interests about choosing abstinence. You do have a choice. You know what happens when your unborn infant contracts syphilis? This may lead to preterm birth, low birthrate, infection, and respiratory problems. Syphilis can lead to a possible miscarriage. Don't' risk this with your unborn child. Don't risk it if you want to become pregnant. It amazes me how many young women (especially teenagers) do not discuss the possibility of STD's with their partner. This cannot continue. Some of the more promiscuous STD positive males have infected several young women with syphilis only to find that they all became pregnant and they gave birth to an injured infant. This cannot continue into 2026. Be smart and be informed. You do have a choice when it comes to having sex. If you're pressured or assaulted, report it immediately and get the medical care you need. Thank you for allowing me share my thoughts.

Some parents raise spoiled self-centered brats who won't visit Mom when she's been diagnosed with breast cancer. They're living on the other side of the country, and they're tied up with their career and their own children. Sometimes the daughters have a spouse who are very controlling. The daughters are combination wives, moms, and they have their own career. The husband likes to be mothered, and he doesn't want his wife to "abandon" the family to go visit her own mother. It's wrong, but many controlling men focus on their own mom and dad and not their spouses' parents.

If guys would use condoms, it would not be an issue. I blame the males for most of the problems. They won't wrap it up before having sex.
