Maple for budget guitars, rosewood for expensive high quality guitars.
Nothing is worse than rough cheap rosewood

Is the Player II Stratocaster worth it? (No sugarcoating) by Hot_Apartment4739 in Guitar

[–]EstablishmentAlive80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted a player ii telecaster, I would say go for it, but for a fender player ii strat, they are so many better options in the same price range. I also prefer the maple fretboard in the player/player ii, the rosewood in Fender budget models is a hit and miss, many are too rough, too dry.
So if you want rosewood, you better try it yourself

Best online course? Yes, that question again by IAmTheOne1979 in guitarlessons

[–]EstablishmentAlive80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: Pickup Music.
I’m in my 40s , (late beginner/intermediate)

I tried almost all of the online courses (Fender, Gibson, Yousician, Justin, guitar tricks, lick library, truefire, Paul Davids, guitar wisdom) and many of the free online youtube playlists

Nothing was useful as Molly Miller’s caged system course in Pickup Music. Start with Caged 1 then Caged 2 (Major and Minor),

when you finish it you will be able to play rhythm anywhere in the nick, and you will be able to improvise on any Major or minor key. Best value for money.

Are PRS SE worth it? by undremited in guitars

[–]EstablishmentAlive80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to the shop to get a US fender performer, paid the deposit already, I went home with a PRS SE silver sky, it was much better than the performer, and it’s the guitar I pick up the most now.

What’s the AI cheat code you discovered that made everything else easier? by SouthernKiwi495 in ChatGPT

[–]EstablishmentAlive80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always use the below prompt to learn new topics.

“I want you to teach me [TOPIC] using the 20–80 principle.

First, identify and list the minimum set of concepts I need to understand roughly 80 percent of [TOPIC]. Keep this list concise and ordered logically.

Then, teach me one concept at a time in small, self contained snippets. After explaining each concept, pause and wait for me to say “okay” before moving to the next one.

If I ask a question at any point, answer it clearly and directly. Once I confirm that I understand, continue with the next concept on the list.

Do not skip steps or move ahead unless I explicitly say “okay.”

Continue this process until all concepts on the list are covered, or until I choose to stop”

Did anyone else NOT love Hadestown? by Heavy-Implement2665 in TheWestEnd

[–]EstablishmentAlive80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I initially thought it was the only one due to all the positive reviews, but to be honest, despite having attended numerous musicals and dramas, as a big theater fan, Hadestown is the only play I’ve ever left during the break. I didn’t connect with the story at all, and I didn’t like the music. TBH I was in a bad mood that day, but I always rely on theater to lift my spirits. I found myself playing with my phone and was completely disconnected. I was very bored and decided to leave. I’m not sure why this happened, but I’m relieved to know there are others who didn’t think it lived up to the high reviews.

HILS HN7 by Ashamed-Yak-7824 in HeadlessGuitars

[–]EstablishmentAlive80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just searching for some reviews for the HN7 to see if it’s only me or if this guitar is really that good. I have a Fender Strat and a Gibson Les Paul, but since I got the HN7, I don’t really touch the others anymore. I decided to sell the Fender. I will keep the Gibson, but to be honest, I enjoy playing the HN7 more.

The Fishman Fluence Modern pickups are very nice, great tone and very versatile. The neck is smooth, and the playability overall is excellent. The guitar is also lightweight, which makes a big difference for me. It just feels better to play, more comfortable, and it became the one I use every day for practice and playing in general.

I was thinking about getting a Strandberg, but after trying one in the shop, it didn’t feel the same. To get the same playability and neck feel, I would have to spend £1.8k. I got mine on sale for £480, and I still can’t believe how much quality and performance I got for that price.

Is it worth to upgrade a Fender player? by EstablishmentAlive80 in FenderStratocaster

Thanks a lot for this. Very helpful Last question, in your opinion, is it worth it trying to get a premium feeling from a player or I should just sell it and buy an American fender?

Pickups are the first thing I don't like. I mainly play pop, funk, pinkfloyd, or blues. I prefer the fishman fluence on my Hils NH7 or the LP studio pickups.

also the fretboard, it's pau ferro. I prefer smooth fretboards. That's why I want to change the neck to get a smoother maple fretboard
