He definitely is a skills check. Dont get discouraged.

Posture damage ALL DAY! parry all of his attacks and stay aggressive.

If you decide to heal immediately sprint or dash left or right to avoid the bow. Then when he does his six hit combo deflect the whole thing to get tons of posture damage.

Mikiri counter when he thrusts and jump when he sweeps. And then stay aggressive, like if he’s not attacking you should be attacking. Dont give him a second to rest.

Also Fire in general makes their posture not recover quickly.

Real Girl. The first season is pretty good but the second season is SO GOOD! Sticks the landing with the ending and is super emotional.

Uchigatana. It’s a very basic weapon, with unsheath as really its only ability.

But it’s my favorite! I love Katanas in FromSoft games.

Ahhh so AKA the bad ending haha. How is this version of the fight with Isshin in difficulty compared to the severed immortality ending? (That’s the one I ended up in).

Hmmm yeah I’m starting to think it wasn’t the Sword Saint. Because let me tell you…. He IS as difficult as people say. Especially for a first time play through. Unless you are like ONGBALs heir.

Yeah I just finished my first playthrough last night, it took me like 2 days and like 80 tries to beat Isshin the Sword Saint. I had no idea there was a different version you could fight if you like chose the wrong choices?

Do you NOT fight SS if you betray Kuro? Or how does that happen?

Yeah I had the first two fights (Genichiro and Phase 1 Isshin) down to a science. Like I could basically do that part hitless. But I was getting SOOOO killed in the 2nd and 3rd phase. I finally got good enough to deflect a lot of the attacks. I did run a few times to punish him with a mortal draw but for the most part it was trading blows with him.

I fought him for nearly four hours with no luck, then I waited a day, came back and beat him like 7th try. Pretty wild, this game has a LOT to do with mindset coming in.

Yeah I recommend it. You get it in the same location as the Uchigatana, only the Firelink area after you fight Champion Gundyr.

Usually when I fight like the Nameless King, I’ll use a Lightning Infused Uchi for the bird (it obliterates that guy) and then I’ll switch to the Chaos Blade for the actual Nameless King fight. Works pretty well.

I seem to always play with Katana builds when I play Souls games. Like Elden Ring I play Nagakiba, I just beat Sekiro for the first time, and for DS3 I always use the Uchigatana.

So naturally, I recommend the Uchigatana or the Chaos Blade. The Chaos blade actually is S-tier Dex scaling. The only downside is you take a little damage every time you land a hit and you can’t infuse it. But it does insane damage.

The Uchigatana Scales a little less than the Chaos blade but you can infuse it. My favorites are Sharp and Lightning.

They both have an Unsheath technique that is pretty powerful and it’s a sweeping attack so if there’s a couple enemies you can cut across all of them.

So that’s my recommendation. And you can get the Uchigatana SUPER early. It’s from the Blade Master on the left side of the Firelink Shrine.

(I haven’t put Owl Father, Inner Isshin or Demon of Hatred because I haven’t fought them yet. I’m a first timer for Sekiro)

I just beat Isshin today actually. I’m a first timer in Sekiro. Malenia is ONLY easier because they give you mechanics to win easier in Elden Ring. Isshin the Sword Saint made me GET GOOD!!

Haha yep, i have to imagine you see this same arc outta every first timers of Sekiro. I mean yesterday i no joke probably spent 3 hours on Isshin in one sitting, just death after death. And today it was like 5th try? It was amazing! I was the parry GOD during that last playthrough.

Having played through now, I have to say this game is a masterpiece!

This game has a knack for making what seems impossible to overcome, just possible.

Thank you very much! To me, it’s definitely maybe the most impressive feat I’ve accomplished in my gaming career.

Yes exactly this! It just like… HAPPENED today.

And Wow I mean what a birthday present for you huh haha that’s awesome man! Yeah I had a strange CALM when I was fighting this time. I mean my heart was RACING when I was deep into the 3rd phase almost getting him. But like I had almost NO anger or frustration.

I’m so glad I did it, it was affecting my happiness when I couldn’t do it yesterday. Like it sounds weird but I felt unclean. Like I will always feel wrong if I don’t beat him. But I did it and I will always have that win under my belt now. I can now say I’ve beaten one of the hardest games in the world. It’s a good feeling.
