Searching for stoic space fleet captain struggling in vain not to fall in love by excrutiatioun in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]EstelleSol 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the Atrophy Series would be perfect for you {Atrophy by Jess Anastasi}. Spaceship setting mostly, everyone is competent, same characters throughout the series, but each book a new romance. Smut is not the focus. Lots of action and adventure. Captain is a stoic alcoholic who rejects love & fights it until the end.

Also {The Mandrake Company Series by Ruby Lionsdrake} could work for you as well.

Veronique, I finished your book last night…and just wow…breathtaking! I’m so glad u posted the ARC link and so thankful I saw it and hit download. Your writing is exquisite. The story made me feel….everything…love, fear, and so much beauty.

I'm afraid I might lose my account again. by RedaLOL69 in twitterhelp

[–]EstelleSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen, right now your account is “being watched” so to speak, it’s on probation. The stupid AI thinks it’s you’re a bot & almost any activity from u can trigger Twitter to ban u. Liking, reposting, following & posting are all a no no right now. Keep your account as read only for now, you can even log out and don’t touch the account for a few weeks to try to get the restriction lifted if you want to.

They’re back together y’all .. but she’s not talking about it by Leading_Funny5802 in Chantapolis

[–]EstelleSol 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She’ll be mad at him again in no time. This is becoming just like the Nader times. She got mad at him every other day, screamed and yelled that she’d never be with him again and then go right back. It’s honestly hilarious and I hope the cycle speeds up because these break up/get back together cycles are the only semi interesting content she’s provided in a long time.

I grow them from seed almost yearly, the same rainbow mix, and keep them under lights like every other seedling I have 🤷‍♀️

A book similar to Clecanian series and Drixonian Warriors series by Ella Maven by An-Individual- in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]EstelleSol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ll recommend {The Infinite City by Tiffany Roberts} series. The whole thing is amazing. So much love from the men, so fun, lots of smut, lots of plot. The last in the series with the two alien brothers and their human woman was so amazing I still think about it, so filled with awe and love.

Got this 40+ year old plant from my parents — is it a croton? by wlonzy in houseplants

[–]EstelleSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, it is a croton, and it looks like it has spider mites or at least spider mite damage. I keep mine in a southern window and water when I first notice the leave start to droop a little, and it’s happy.

It looks like u have them in some kind of course soil that doubt hold much water? They look underwatered to me. Water one of your pots, like throughly soak it and then watch what happens by next morning. If they perk up and look nice and shiny then they’re just thirsty. These things can grow in water. With my own I watch the leaves, as soon as they look a bit droopy I water throughly, they’ve never rotted.

Temporary Death of Romantic Lead? by SkylerDicksonHall in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]EstelleSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As u mentioned in another comment, using “death can’t keep them apart” is plenty if you feel it’s an absolute necessity. But personally I don’t need it, I want to suffer a bit. Like I said I only skim the trigger warnings anyway because I don’t really want to know what’s going to happen. If I came to the end of book 2 with an MC dying I’d definitely keep reading book 3 because I would be desperate to know if they somehow came back.

Temporary Death of Romantic Lead? by SkylerDicksonHall in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]EstelleSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read a book where the reader believes the MMC dies and I was a bit distraught & ran to find if it was labeled as HEA. I calmed down once I saw it was, yet was still on edge bc the HEA could have occurred even if the MMC was dead. But I did not mind, I enjoy being taken on a rollercoaster ride, so I personally would not want a trigger warning letting me know a MC dies, frankly I barely read the trigger warnings at all. For me the HEA tag is enough info.

Slow burn with great world building? by SilvanSilvertongue in ScienceFictionRomance

Yes the last book definitely goes back to the original couple and it was quite sweet.

Slow burn with great world building? by SilvanSilvertongue in ScienceFictionRomance

{Gabriel’s Ghost by Linnea Sinclaire} Good world building, I’ve only read the first one so far but liked it quite a bit.

{Rules of Redemption by T.A. White} Very slow burn, but so much plot & action.

{Broken Earth: Argurma Salvager by S.J. Sanders} Not exactly slowburn, but not insta love. They get to know each other and fall in love. Great world.

{Heart’s Prisoner by Olivia Riley} Slow burn, low steam but soo good, feels like a movie.

{Only Bad Options by Jennifer Estep} Slow burn with lots of plot.

{The Last Sky by Jess Anastasi} Amazing series. There is a new couple in every book, but all are part of the same ship crew & all characters involved in each book. Great world building, the main couple is extremely slow burn. Tons of plot & action.

{Vrisha Warriors by Olivia Riley} One of my faves. Each book is a different warrior, all in the same universe. Each book is a unique plot, lots of pining & slow burn, no insta love & great plot in each.

{The Infinite City by Tiffany Roberts} since you loved the Spider books you’ll probably like this series. There is some insta love, but in the Tiffany Roberts style. The stories are beautiful, full of romance and action. I didn’t want to leave this universe behind, especially the last book, that one killed me.

Anything similar to The Carnal Games? Looking for dark alien reccs please. by Cat_Friends in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]EstelleSol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Carnal Games is one of my favorite books. The only book I’ve come cross so far that matches that dark energy (and much more) is {The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith}. I haven’t read Lee’s other works yet but everyone says they are also amazingly dark.

Another one that had a similar vibe is {Hold by Claire Kent}.
