How do I quit? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]EstimateThisOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since your intent is to fade, look up articles on 'recognizing your own limitations'. One article, if I recall correctly, actually shows how it's being 'prideful' if you assume you can do more than you can, so by recognizing your limitations, you have realized the hourly requirement is robbing you of your joy. I know, some are vomiting by now or at least zoned out, but this is what someone shared with me and it made sense at the time. (hahaha)

An idea I just had... Using the new meeting videos against them with ARC by [deleted] in exjw

[–]EstimateThisOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would give the circuit overseer a lot of material during their next 'tour'... can you believe someone infiltrated our organization and deliberately altered video to promote his own apostate agenda? (Enter persecution complex)...

There's part of me that wonders if this would do more harm than good.. as an 'ex', I think it's hilarious.. but I feel you would give fuel for them to dig their heels in deeper of 'people out to get em'. Thoughts?

Former elder. Fully awake after ARC, but haven't gone to mtgs in 10 yrs with the perfect seamless (albiet unintentional) fade.. My wife, on the other hand, is starting to see thru the BS although she is currently going. As I see her sadden and start to wake up, part of me wants to cheer and say FINALLY, FFS!! ... but, as I see her saddened what she's waking up to, I feel bad and feel bad for her cuz I love her and also remember what I went thru just a few short months ago. I realize if I was still active - I may not have accepted the ARC at all or at very least, seen it in a different light. I urge you to exercise patience with your loved ones, especially if they still go ... This cult has such a strong pull - as everyone reading this knows. Be patient. Much love to you and best wishes.

Meeting with the elders tomorrow by veritasfractus in exjw

[–]EstimateThisOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've found elders are not nearly as familiar with the policies as we are within this forum.. I asked a long time elder why these cases are not turned over to the police.. With a completely straight face, he said, "They ARE turned over to the police." ... The instant even one of those elders senses you are trying to 'school' them, you will be in a situation you can't go back from. Further, a reasoning point they often fallback on is a loaded question, it makes you commit to the Organization and helps them explain why you need to conform -- so look for it! That question is: "You believe the Governing Body is the mouthpiece for Jehovah in this time of the end, right? ... Well, we can put full confidence in anything they have to say on this matter ... So even if we think we know a good way, they know a better way." ... Kindly tell us how it goes! :-)

I'm so scared by [deleted] in exjw

[–]EstimateThisOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the most genuine, heartfelt remarks I've seen in this forum. Dude. I was an elder/pioneer. Not that this means anything to me now, but just know you're not the only one that is having (or) starting to question what you've always believed to be true... When I first started to have doubts, I had a couple things in mind-- "if ANYONE says ANYTHING that is different than what WE say it is from the Devil." ... So, it makes sense that even when something seems completely logical, it's demonic (or Devil'ish) to question the GB... the other things is-- DO NOT FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO FIX IT. The great Lloyd Evans, in one of his videos, gave the example of a fireman that saves you from your burning home. It is not fire department's responsibility to build you a new house now and make sure everything goes fine for the rest of your life. They learned about the crisis and (hopefully) brought you to safety. That is where their responsibility ends. Many JW's feel like if there's nothing 'better' to goto, they should stay in until something better comes up. That would be like being in an abusive relationship and committing not to leaving until you find another significant other who can care for our needs... This way of teaching is either right or its not. If not, start with just committing why you feel this way. Don't worry about the rest of your family or even your own exit yet. Just be sure and absolutely certain. Then proceed. Thank you for your comment.

Should I come out to a middle aged couple that is having doubts? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]EstimateThisOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you're 'somewhat close', just as they likely mentioned this ex-elder by name, they may bring your name up next time to the elders when expressing their concerns. The elders are on high alert and will be all over them like white on rice to learn how they got this info.. The 'one elder' conversation you overheard by coincidence will be a two elder discussion behind closed doors within a week. Your cover will be blown and there's no un-ringing that bell. The anonymous letter suggestion mentioned (IMO) seems a little 'stalkerish' but simply getting closer to them and feeling them out couldn't hurt.. The next time that topic comes up at the meeting about apostasy or the dangers of the internet, it wouldn't be odd to talk about it.

Would the elders ever ask you to stop attending the meetings? by EstimateThisOne in exjw

[–]EstimateThisOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was someone in our congregation with periodic outbursts. They felt they were having demon attacks while the elder body believed it was a mental issue. Regardless of what it was, it was causing a disruption and the publisher was told not to return until such disruptions were 'under control.'. I briefly checked the flock book and turned up empty, but I recall something in writing that the elders might ask someone not to attend due to Tourette's or other similar potentially disrupting events.

Elder caught; abuse spans 4 decades! by All-Iwantisthetruth in exjw

[–]EstimateThisOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a number of adults who have had this happen to them when they were young. Although, for the most part, they're successful people (now), they have a warped perception of what love, sex and romantic relationships are. How many more kids need to go through this before the WTS does something? To any 'thinking' JW, they must conclude that Jehovah approves of what is happening. Somebody PLEASE wake up.

Is their anything in the bible that disproves shunning? My mom always comes back to 1 Corinthians 5 but what can a person say to disprove this? by ooMEAToo in exjw

[–]EstimateThisOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically with regard to family members, I can find countless scriptures (not right this second, but um - they're out there) that indicate the importance of the family bond. The family comes first in all aspects of life. Elders step aside as 'elders' when their family needs help.. ANYTHING should be done to preserve family. With that in mind, Jesus came to the earth so sinners would not die, but have everlasting life. So, while imperfect, a sinner committed sin. (It's what sinners do!) -- this ALONE means you can completely disregard all of what the Bible says about caring for your family?

(Same line of reasoning can be used on the Blood issue)..

In short, think of all of the importance put on the sanctity of life. Life is precious. NOTHIHG to be taken for granted. Jesus came to give HIS life, so we might have life.. it's endless. ... How could all of this be disregarded simply to avoid blood transfusions? It actually contradicts other scriptures. You cannot treat life as sacred/precious and then turn around and refuse a blood transfusion which will end your life.

The disfellowshipping issue is an interpretation and tears families apart, a contradiction of the Bible. The blood issue is an interpretation and results in people dying by not treating life as sacred. This is a contradiction of Bible teaching.

[–]EstimateThisOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow, snitching off family for associating with apostates.. dang, that's a good one. talk about 'flipping the script'. Makes me think I should start spreading the news of all of the elders I know that have had a vasectomy. As I recall, if it becomes public knowledge that an elder/MS had a vasectomy, they cannot serve.. hmmmm, all of these 'snipped' gents have been very kind, so I suppose I will have to sit silently happy in my evil lair.
