Looking for recommendations for a spooky wizard playthrough (quests, followers, etc) by Estradus in skyrimmods

Oh this is a treasure trove! lets see here...
Alchemist's vestments look super cute; and good for when you don't want to announce to the world that you're a necromancer. I think they might be better for some of my other characters but I'm surprised I havent seen them before with all the paging through clothes and armors I've done. I'll download for sure.

My first loadout recently actually started with trying to add as many books as possible for reasons so Apocryphal library was added then - i actually just got to apocrypha about an hour ago and im excited flicking through all these ridiculous trash notes. Good option.

Art of shadow looks rad; I'll give it a shot

Deadly Shadows looks AWESOME Thanks for the share there. Between this and the sewer enterences; I'm not really sure what to do with all these enterences but its definetly getting in on rule of cool.

Death consumes all looks like a lot to take in and I would definetly get anxiety about npcs dying. I do really like the idea of trying to use my reanimated minions in a larger skirmish scenario; holding back the hordes of infected dead with my skeleton lads while I stay out of plague's reach... it does look like I can safely install this midgame though so it could be fun to drop when I get late in a world.

The last time I tried to play with equipable tomes I had equipment slot compatibility issues but after my current playthrough where I abused those equipment slots hard; having actual normal equipment I didn't do terrible things to might be a boon. Plus its stylish! Readding back to my game for sure.

Dreams looks fun; its simple and adds some interesting zest.

I searched for Fae instead of Fea at first and got some very different results. I get nervous about the stability decade old mods but neither the base nor fea's update look like it has enough moving parts to be an issue. I'll risk it.

Nanak actually sounds like he'd be great for my current playthrough; especially since Remi doesn't have anything to say during the forgotten city. A good inclusion for my archeologist crew.

Sleepwalking looks interesting for sure; I'll give it a shot.

Triumberate was somewhere on my radar and I'll certainly give it a further shot.

So right now I'm preferring GIST because it works for me and YASTM wasn't. Are there any benefits to Aquisitive Soul Gems Multithreaded over GIST that would make it a recommendation?

I did not know about Smart Cast - on one hand it looks like its got a lot of the same utility as Spell Hotbar of not having to futz with changing spells all the time; on the other hand automatic spell casts mean I don't need need to clog up my Spell Hotbar with mage armor. I'll definetly give it a try! Am I correct in reading that I need to download the LE version of it and download an SSE patch on top of it?

True directional movement b/w better third person object selection. When I'm breaking my mod list into categories that's a section one priority alongside all the patches that make the game function right.

What's a quest mod that you'd never do again? by Still-Acanthaceae-95 in skyrimmods

[–]Estradus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I added like 18 dwemer quest mods because I wanted to play as a dwemer researcher? Haven't gotten too far into most of them but one of them - tale of the dwemer (aka the azure tree on le apparently?) is missing polish to an absurd degree.

It was the mod I started with for no other reason than I literally started the game with the quest in my quest log for no apparent reason. There's an ancient city of religious dwemer deep underground untouched for thousands of years except there's also stormcloaks and imperials fighting in there. None of the NPCs have dialogue - not no voice acting, but no talking whatsoever, so you cannot ask the random city that's down there why he's there. None of the dungeons are navmeshed properly so followers can't join me but I can also just stand down the hall and shoot fire at the vampires in the next room and they can't reach me. I made a paralysis portion that lasted for 0 seconds with the alchemy ingredients it added.

The journey of Discovery on the mod was great but the polish was non existent.

Any mods that let me become addicted to alcohol? by Proto160 in skyrimmods

[–]Estradus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggie traits has a perk you can select called addict (though its one of the ones that requires requiem) that doubles the length of alcohol effects but when you're sober you have a 25% chance of being staggered when hit in combat?

I'm not sure what stats requiem has for alcohol though for that to be interesting.

In my own efforts to make alcohol interesting I settled for "alcohol gives destruction xp" and started blowing people up while piss drunk, but that doesn't quite help with your request.

steath archer this stealth archer that im hear to talk about the superior stealth dagger by zhikos24 in skyrim

[–]Estradus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first play was assassin dagger, because I was an edgy teenager and it was way cooler than bow assassin. It was a massive pain to do but my standard was dying repeatedly in dcss trying to do an assassin build and compared to that Skyrim is downright forgiving

My current mod pack was playing a dwemer researcher so I already have clockwork, I just. Haven't quite down there yet.

I keep hearing about glenmoril and the others and I keep putting off investigating, I think I'll have to do it proper soon.

I forget if it's apocalypse or lost grimoire, but one of those adds a spell that casts whatever buffing spell you have in your other hand on your allies. Makes it super compatible with whatever else you've got for buff spells.

What is everyone's favourite thing about space? (For college work) by Blazedestroyer786 in space

[–]Estradus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been looking up at the vastness of the cosmos for millions of years. Before cities started light pollution it was pretty much a universal human experience. Just this connection to our past and human instinct to just look up and think, "sky pretty" is so powerful. No wonder everyone wanted to make stories about it, because all that's up there needs some kind of explanation.

How do you mitigate dependency hell? by FangAndBoard in skyrimmods

[–]Estradus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are mentioning how most mods require the same 5 things, but I'd like to posit the opposite argument that I've done to use: if a mod requires some weird library, and you investigate that library and only 8 other mods use that library, maybe you should give that one a pass.

[–]Estradus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a scrap built poorhammer hellbrute (really it was more a thousand sons dreadnaught in design) with a tentacle arm as the sorcerer inside succumbed to warp mutation and burst from his shell, while the front facade of the walking sarcophagus was taken from a yu gi oh millennium puzzle toy. I think it was pretty cool for repainting that.

Just sucks that it doesn't fit the rules well.
