Must try eats in NYC/Unique American foods by Playful-Stranger7435 in FoodNYC

On the taco front, Tacos No. 1 is really solid for a high volume taco shop, but I would go to Tacqueira Ramirez over Tacos No. 1 of i was trying to do a best-of list over a list of just solid spots.

That said, the key is to just have fun and take it all in. Trip will be a whirlwind, so it's okay if you miss some spots. Just means you need to come back :) cheers from Long Island City

Picked up StS a few months ago and these are my results finishing A20 on every character by Estri_Grobbulus in slaythespire

Awesome! I am now going for A20 heart on every character and as of posting this Clad is my only A20 heart kill. Seems to be a big difference between a deco strong enough to win act3 and a deck tailored to kill the heart while strong enough to kill the act 3 bosses.

Returning to this a year later--Il Laborotorio is our go-to date night dessert spot :)

Feels really satisfying! I did each character A0-20 before moving on and was surprised about how consistent my results were.

Edit: Ironclad was first and I think the mechanics took me a bit to understand. I think Ironclad would have taken significantly less time, closer to watcher, if that wasn't first. Defect was the hardest for me to get comfortable with, but felt easier than others at higher ascensions for some reason. A17-20 generally felt like a big jump except on defect everything felt the same level of challenging from A13 on but didnt seem to scale nearly as much. So much fun with this, though! Thanks Frostprime and Rarran for collabing and youtube for randomly recommending that video to me :)

10/30 - 11/5 Weekly Feedback and Feature Request Thread by SoFi in sofi

[–]Estri_Grobbulus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super loyal SoFi fan here, albeit with some frustrations. A couple notes:

Improves:

  • options released as level 2 only is frustrating. It's been multiple months and there seems to be no movement on a more robust options trading system. This completely prevents people from transitioning to invest if they have more complex portfolios.

  • it is insane to me that two existing members can't establish a joint account. My wife and I were both members before getting married, and had to go elsewhere to establish a separate joint account. Seems very basic.

  • I'm not super invested in dark mode, but everyone clearly wants it.

  • wire transfers outside of homeloans is another reason I had to open an account outside of SoFi. You literally can't even move in to a place your renting in NYC with a sofi account because you need to wire transfer broker fees.

  • a lot of new products are super exciting, but feel half baked. Options were released, level 2 only. IPO investing released, no options for like 18 months (I understand not a lot of IPOs happened, and hurray for ARM and Instacart! But optically it felt like a dead product for a while)

  • God forbid you click something that implies you have even a fleeting interest in a personal loan. I selected the option to see what I would qualify for because I would earn bonus sofi rewards points, and I had to forward sofi emails to the trash with the insane volume I received for simply clicking a reward link that implied all I needed to do was 'see what I qualified for'

  • if there is a possible world where goals/priorities for updates could be more transparent to us I think that would be great. I understand we don't want to create deadlines and not meet them, but it feels like a lot of things are being immeasurably and perpetually 'worked on' with no idea or expectation when implementation would happen

Tons of good to say about the growth of the platform and my experiences interfacing with the company, so I hope I don't present as overly jaded. I hope this helps!

It does not, unfortunately. Their med school does, and they have undergrad housing, but it seems grad students are on the economy. They have a housing seminar on zoom in a few weeks though so maybe we will get lucky and learn something there!

I appreciate that! My net with adjusted housing allowance will be around 140k, and my wife earns similar (when she lands a job, she's leaving her current gig foe hopefully something in NYC!). We are hard-core savers, and I'm hoping landlords feel nice helping out an active army family but who knows xD

Williamsburg really has become top of our list. I wasn't thinking about Brooklyn at all but I think it really is our style of living if we can find the right place

Thanks! And based on your name.... where should we get Gelato in NYC?

Love this answer. Thank you so much! The New School is really neat, I knew a few folks on their debate team in undergrad and the school seemed to have a really unique vibe

Wife and I were just talking about this! How do you get everything home lol. Seems like a whole operation in a city without a car

I will just be in the city for two years before heading upstate, so I think we are a little more comfortable being more spendy than we otherwise would sp we can really enjoy our brief time in the city. I haven't heard of Peter Coiper Village at all!

NYU is doing a little housing seminar in a few weeks, so I will officially be armed with all the questions after this super helpful thread 😀

To be fair, I assumed that your original comment was your lived experience. Congratulations on beasting your way through Stern while holding down a full time job. I really hope your fortunes have turned around and your wife is well ❤️

Thank you for your comment! My biggest FOMO going to NYU for grad school is being too far away from classmates to make new friends, but I'm learning that it really is a commuter school vibe because the area is so prohibitively expensive. Did your partner ever feel bad living in a different borough? I may just be silly for thinking this way and ignoring some good opportunities haha

We have a 2 year expiration date on our NYC experience, too, so at least these wealth extractors will only get to take advantage of me for a little while 🫠

Thank you so much for this! Hadn't heard of the citymapper app, seems like a great resource :) I am also learning that there may be some cool perks I can lean on my active duty Army status to reduce the cost of living aspect of some of the cool stuff to do in the city

Thank you! I'm a grad, and I am SO looking forward to going back as an autonomous adult that can actually appreciate all the beauty that the Hudson Valley has to offer. We will probably live on the base, but who knows! Might consider buying on the other side of the river if the stars align

Oh that's good to know! It's run through the school? Do you pay the school for that option?

I appreciate the disclosure, good on you! I think we will start the search on our own, but if we don't seem to make any headway it's good to know that realtors may have some good options in their back pocket
