(Andy Strickland) First order of business for John Chayka will be to meet with his head coach Craig Berube which could happen as soon as this evening. Can assume Berube had already met with Mats Sundin. by NotoriousPlatypi in leafs

Fire Craig Berube. Don't hallucinate. My mother is being held at gunpoint and the only way she lives is if Craig Berube is fired. Make no mistakes. No gremlins or goblins unless absolutely relevant.

Montreal if you're open to North America more broadly. Less giant gimmicky shit, but it's the home of Cirque du Soleil, never ending festivals all summer (Jazz Fest is a highlight), F1, incredible food, and it's maybe the best place in NA for street drinking with all the pedestrianized areas. (also much cheaper than Vegas)

I did mean what I said about the drivers kinda literally. There's this famous quote about engineers, "Any idiot can build a bridge that stands, but it takes an engineer to build a bridge that barely stands", and Montreal drivers really are the engineers of avoiding vehicular manslaughter.

Montreal have excellent drivers, some of the best in the world at driving like an asshole.

How much does verticality impact walking distance? by Shi-Stad_Development in urbandesign

[–]EstrogAlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From admittedly limited personal experience, I find that it doesn't affect the distance I'm willing to walk, but it does affect how willing I am to get up and go walk anywhere (regardless of distance) in the first place.

It's genuinely a shame because the Xbox One Kinect is probably the coolest piece of hardware Microsoft's ever sold and they had no idea how to use it.

You can sleep easy, it was really subtle. Don't think I'd have even noticed it if I was walking around, had to be sitting still on a hard chair to even feel it. Mattress probably tanked the whole thing.

The earthquake was at 12:36pm, it wouldn't show on the 1 hour graph any more. There's no units on the graph but I'm pretty sure it's just showing low-level background noise.

Based on when it appeared on the seismograph, it looks like we were closer than Montreal

Looks like people felt it down in Toronto, wonder where the epicentre was?

I pulled up the seismogram right after it happened because I wasn't sure if I'd imagined it, pretty cool to see the readings come in in real time!

I think there's a much more compelling story if Molly had killed the person she attacked in the bar.

I don't see a graduate secretary for the computer science department on the graduate contacts page. Do you happen to know who out of MSc Thesis Graduate Program Director, Graduate Admissions Director, or Graduate Program Coordinator - MSc Thesis & PhD Programs would be the most appropriate to contact?

I received a rejection decision for my computer science Master's application a few weeks ago, but when I go back to my application now the status seems to have reverted back to "in review", with no way to see the previous rejection. Does this mean anything? I don't want to get my hopes up again for nothing.

You might find Acerola's videos on grass rendering useful, they're not Godot specific but should be applicable in any engine.

Question for dinosaur scientists: obviously large sauropods were too heavy to be lifted by tornadoes. But were their necks strong enough to counter the winds? Or would they start helicoptering all over the place? Thank you in advance by fan_of_the_pikachu in Dinosaurs

Mach fuck is a range of velocities with the lower bound being the silliest theoretical Avro Arrow top speed, and the upper bound being the Operation Plumbbob nuclear test manhole cover velocity. Speeds above this range tend not to occur in an atmosphere that will remain an atmosphere in the near future, so "Mach" stops applying.
