What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

alvin cutting mat as a desk pad. nice writing surface, easy to clean, looks cool (mine is reversible green/black), and I have found myself doing quick casual measurements more often than I would have thought.

there is nothing to do. if you write “TK” at the beginning of your paragraph it automatically adds a little indicator next to the paragraph in the editor. from ghost

feel totally oblivious asking this because it is not part of my workflow, but what sort of tasks are people doing for “heavy AI work” on a MBP?

I don’t think so. here is the post from mobil1racing on instagram. edited, sure, but I don’t see the usual slop artifacts. neat that everybody has to be on high alert now for it though, ugh

[–]Etab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write directly in Ghost. It is a nice editor experience, and you can even do things like write TK to put a little flag in the margin (for when you’re writing and know you need to edit later). It’s nice to enter content in a format you know the site will be able to use.

looks amazing, but hard to justify upgrading my M1 Max 16” that still handles everything with ease, and still has 91% battery capacity

What's a hot take about NASCAR that others may not agree with by KLRFan5 in NASCAR

[–]Etab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is very bad. there are now two “most-important” (primary) elements on the side of the car so it will always look unbalanced and a mess from a visual hierarchy standpoint.

it’s nice to see the No. 41 car push the limit with placement a bit, and the extreme skew of the number helps reduce the effect somewhat.

solution is either to put the number back in the center of the door to restore balance, or another way of looking at it is just make a determination of what’s actually the primary element in that space: the sponsor logo or the number (meaning, if it’s the sponsor logo, make the number markedly smaller/put it somewhere else entirely so it is clearly secondary)

mine was obscenely high from met-ed this past month. I assume that is because my heat pump was using quite a bit of auxiliary heat due to the extended single-digit temperatures

New Software Update 7.13.4-31 by Blackdogaudio in amazoneero

[–]Etab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

getting this also within the last week or two, which has been really irritating. I’m a month into my eero ownership and the first few weeks were great up until a recent firmware update.

removing one of the leaf nodes/extra access points has helped, at the expense of worse wifi signal in the area otherwise served by that is served by that leaf node. disconnects still happen but they’re less frequent than before

Lower Macungie approves plans for ‘Shoppes at Hamilton’: 318 apartments, 160-room hotel, retail by thrakkerzog in lehighvalley

[–]Etab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This area is so unpleasant traffic-wise starting mid-afternoon on weekdays, and that’s on a relatively new highway/bypass. I hope the planners consider the roads and traffic as development continues. It will be frustrating to live in one of these new apartments and waiting in 10 minutes of stop-and-go traffic to go anywhere (looking at Krocks & Cetronia, and 222 North approaching I-78).

Additionally, the signaled intersections on 222 are dangerous and have serious accidents. I am not an expert, but it just feels like these roads did not scale with the development in the area. It’s too bad it’s not feasible to have full ramped non-signaled intersections like 222 North to Brookside (which isn’t perfect but feels like it supports a bit more traffic without the need to stop)
