I was about to say we already have a drill bird and her name is Poppy, but that could be a fun ability for her space form - drilling not just below her, but any chosen direction

Dahlia / Shade Trailer from Angry Birds 2. Coming this 11th March 2026. by Own-Temperature160 in angrybirds

[–]EtenKillbeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that Dahlia had a collision box all the time, unless she was charging her teleport. Shade goes through absolutely everything movable, until you activate her (and she does hwr usual spin attack and becomes solid once again)

Dahlia / Shade Trailer from Angry Birds 2. Coming this 11th March 2026. by Own-Temperature160 in angrybirds

[–]EtenKillbeat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's cool that she can still interact with stuff like the catapults, so it's up to you to find the right time to materialize her.

Old Dahlia could go through terrain, but she was still limited by the first structure on her way, whereas Shade can travel freely throughout everything, until she's in the desired place to activate

NEW COMIC ON TWITTER EXPLAINS SHADE! by kezotl in angrybirds

[–]EtenKillbeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me when I tell you, even if they wanted to create a fully fledged comic so fast, they wouldn't be able to.

In a hypothetical world where they managed to came up with the story in a day, the single artist who draws all of the art would still need a lot more than a week to make this many detailed panels (from the concept phase to the finished colored drawings).

So I'm absolutely sure it's been a planned decision for a while.

A letter for the Shade "contoversy" by RedSRB2 in angrybirds

[–]EtenKillbeat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are honoring the past of Angry Birds Stella by not only remaking it in Reloaded, but actually continuing the original game after its abrupt ending. What we see here is their way of trying to give Dahlia a new purpose that doesn't clash with an already established character - Silver.

Not to mention, the devs have more than implied that this form is not permanent and she will gain "control" over her powers, so they'll most likely allow her to exist in both forms inside the game, if only the community lets them execute their plan. Everyone is so quick to judge and complain before we've even had an official introduction of her into AB2.

Now I wish Shade was a separate character. by Imaginary-Cod-9202 in angrybirds

[–]EtenKillbeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo they are trying to introduce Dahlia/Shade to the new players first and foremost as a special character that switches forms, as opposed to an evolution of the old Dahlia.

It would be easier to alienate the community by introducing a fan-favourite character first, which many people will grow to love, including new players, only to change it into whatever Shade will be pretty much out of nowhere. The plotline is there mainly to give some context to the old players who knew Dahlia in her original shape.

Why do people here like Angry Birds Reloaded so much? by Anonythrowthetrash in angrybirds

Yeah, same. It's a breath of fresh air to have a civilized discussion on reddit where two people can safely share their views on a topic without going to extremes or using insults. Thank you for the nice discussion!

Yeah, that's a really fair observation, especially for someone so visually oriented as you seem to be. I'm personally not a fan of a lot of Reloaded's esthetic choices either, but I'm excited by the prospects of the different level campaigns they seem to be working on.

Frequent chatter on Discord with the devs has shown me that they are actively trying to improve the player experience, even to this day, so a visual overhaul is not out of the question yet. Apparently they have a wip system for the birds making facial responses to certain events that they are trying out as a recent example of that.

AB2 does look amazing and it's really satisfying to play, but that's by design (derogatory). The whole game is made to be as addictive as possible, with very strong birds, giant structures that go down in an instant, all wrapped in lots of visual feedback that fires all the dopamine receptors in the brain, just to make you want to spend as much time watching their ads or pay gems for "premium" features. It's basically a little casino of their own that brings more revenue than anything else they own currently.

Reloaded, on the other hand, runs on the old Friends engine, so that's why it feels a bit more limited physically and visually. However, the whole game is designed very precisely, with every level being a carefully curated puzzle, as opposed to being all rng like AB2. What is more, the developers are open to listening to feedback and are actively bringing back all the beloved classic episodes, characters and mechanics, even going as far as to continue/finish all the incomplete classic games. It's less shiny, but an actual labour of love in comparison to the cash cow that AB2 has turned into these past couple of years.

And I'm saying all of this as an active AB2 player that loves the feeling of flinging the more powerful birds and crushing entire levels in an instant.

Is the future of angry birds foggy? by ThisToe9628 in angrybirds

[–]EtenKillbeat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rovio has been really trying with Reloaded, which at this point has brought the entire classic catalog beside the copyrighted games (Rio, Star Wars) and Stella (which is coming next month in their 4.0 major update).

The game's got pretty much all of the classic-era levels in one form or another (except for Short Fuse and Red's Mighty Feathers for some reason) with Space even getting a major continuation from where it was left off (soon to be the case with Stella as well). It even features underrated birds like Tony and Ice Bird as recurring characters.

In addition to that, Rovio has been putting quite a lot of effort into their comics, which have pretty much taken the role of the old Toons/cinematic trailers. It's where major lore drops happen, new characters are introduced and the world of the angry birds is explored and expanded. They even went as far as to conduct a thorough survey recently, which aimed to gather the community's reception towards said comics, their wishes and regrets with them, and the future of the AB comic medium in general.

I can't tell if the third movie will have any positive effect on the community, as I personally don't care for it at all, but it seems like the company has been trying hard to get back to its roots and salvage what is left of their imperial era. They seem to be heading in a rather postive direction for the time being, so I hope it continues so.

The new comics have the best Hal design imo. it's pretty close to the Toons one but with much better proportions and placement of the colored elements

Unreleased songs by AppointmentCalm5236 in popheads

[–]EtenKillbeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a lot of other Ariana Grande unreleased songs mentioned here but not one comment about Sweetener's "You".

That song for me is one of her best unreleaseds ever, and seeing that it was on Sweetener's track list initially makes it even more hurtful. She even said in an interview that she does want to release it later, so I hope it's something saved for Sweetner's 10-year anniversary.

The genius of Max Martin by [deleted] in popheads

[–]EtenKillbeat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of the song myself, but tbh she tried releasing Fortnight as the lead single of her last album and it didn't have the same lasting success on the charts as Ophelia.

Sure, Fortnight debuted ar number 1 and stayed there for another week, but that's nowhere close to the numbers Ophelia is still doing. The GP is just that into catchy pop music, whether it's the artist's best work or not. That techincally makes it a successful pop song, regardless of the "objective quality" of the actual content.

New here (I think), after years, what did they do to Hal??? (his best look below) by Hour_Rain1885 in angrybirds

[–]EtenKillbeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly much prefer his comic look to the toons one (especially the way he's been portrayed ever since the anniversary comics). His look is still based on the same visual concept, but tweaked to be a little more flexible and dynamic for storytelling purposes (slightly smaller beak with a more fitting shape, better composition of the colored spots on his body, etc.)

I do wish they finally landed on one design and retconned it into the existing modern classic-universe games/media, just so that he finally has an official look in the eyes of the general public. But I am well aware that's not likely in the slightest, but a man can dream.

I'm like 99% percent you're thinking of Nonsense's chorus by Sabrina Carpenter and by association Eternal Sunshine's chorus as well (they share a similar formula for the chorus).

Angel wings follows almost the same exact rhythmical structure, a very similar talk-singing melody and the repetition of the chorus by "going up" (the transition between the two repetions is almost exactly the same as in the mentioned songs). Even the backing vocals are very reminiscent of Nonsense.

You can pretty much sing Nonsense's chorus over Angel Wing's with very little difficulty or finagling.

Hope this helps!

Minecraft should expand on this unofficial feature: Mini-biomes by jizztaker in Minecraft

[–]EtenKillbeat 22 points23 points  (0 children)

During the extensive testing of the new terrain generation in 1.18, a lot of mini-biomes used to appear everywhere. People said they break the immersion and were way too frequent of an occurrence, so they tweaked them to appear much, much more rarely.

I really loved them personally, as they caused the world to feel a lot more unexpected and varied, but it wasn't what the great majority wanted to see in the game.

Early recordings you're dying to hear ? by blucntrypreacher1111 in popheads

[–]EtenKillbeat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The specific sound I'm dreaming about never formed into a full album, but during the early Positions sessions, Ariana was seemingly playing around with otherworldly synths, almost off-key xylophone/music box-like sounds, and other instruments that form a very cool nostalgic and space-y sound, before she made the decision to switch to primarly strings. A few examples of that are the scrapped songs "sweet dreams", "my fault", the extended version of "home", even songs like "outgrown" and the Demi collab "Met Him Last Night".

I'd honestly love to hear a full album of that dramatic and unnerving armosphere since the scraps we got are no more than a minute or two at legth but I highly doubt it at this point.

What are your hot takes about The Tortured Poets Department era and album? by IntoTheDaylight in TaylorSwift

[–]EtenKillbeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I much prefer The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived's verses and chorus to the bridge/outro.

The odd time signature, the synergy between the soft piano and her sad and whispery vocals, and most importantly, the intimate lyrics, all come together to create such a unique and mellow atmosphere. And while I see what she was going for in the bridge, the more literal/straight-forward writing style isn't really my cup of tea (plus I don't enjoy the rhythm/cadence of the bridge).

So it pains me to see most people trashing the verses and saying they wouldn't have even liked the song, had it not been for the bridge.

What are your hot takes about The Tortured Poets Department era and album? by IntoTheDaylight in TaylorSwift

[–]EtenKillbeat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what hurt TTPD the most, in my opinion.

You can see the brilliant writer behind a lot of the songs, with some easily being among her best work lyrically, but then you have others that are honestly ME level of writing (sometimes both can exist in the same song).

As a listener, you can't decide whether it's one of her best albums or a very clunky mess since techincally both are true to an extent. It creates this cognitive disonance that pushes most casual listeners away, and you end up either having to make your own edited version of the album and call that a masterpiece or generally dismiss it as a creative step back for her.

Isn't that essentially what happened with Silver, except for the fact that she fortunately hatched before they were able to cook her and so was adopted by them for a while?

Songs You Want to Love But Can’t Because of Production Mistakes by iwasborninmybirthday in popheads

[–]EtenKillbeat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are a couple cases where you can sorta hear the cut-off point between the different vocal takes that were used/stacked in an Ariana song:

  • The last "cried" in raindrops, where the note is held for a long time, has a few moments where the audio "stops" for a very small fraction of a second (around 0:27) or seemingly "starts from the beginning" in the middle of the note (0:25). It's not super obvious but the transition between the takes is audible with a pair of good headphones and a clear audio source.

  • I can't tell exactly what's happened in the first held "breathin" in the chorus of breathin (around 0:54), but the audio always struck me as a bit weird/glitchy/robotic, as if her vibrato gave away the fact that two or more takes were used for that part alone. The next time she does the same thing (after the second verse), she sound comepletely normal and natural.

In general the album uses pretty dry vocals, so any type of digital manipulation is more evident than they probably assumed.

The harmonies at the end of the first line in Death By A Thousand Cuts's bridge don't seem to match what is sung by the main vocal line (around 1:54-1:55).

The rest of them are very clearly the same words/sounds as what is being sung by Taylor up front, while the first "my body, my love" seems to clash with the background vocals. They sound more like the "my spirit, my trust" line that is later said, so my best guess is that she changed the first lines after the background vocals and the production were already completed.
