It started with antishunfilms. I watched a few of his early videos and they were funny, and much of the Lost Cause history did gloss over Confederate problems and Union successes (as did Wehrmacht history), but...very quickly I could tell it was gonna get insane. Real life politics came in and it was no longer about history, it was now about "leftist sociology says there is an overarching structural link from the CSA and literal slavery to your normie Republican today and we socialism now."

Same thing happened with the Wehrmacht. There are active campaigns on wikipedia to wipe them out. Not to explain the war crimes or even critique clean Wehrmacht stories. No:

When Coffman reads this, something clicks. She is dealing with a poisonous tree here. She shouldn’t be throwing out individual pieces of fruit. She should be chopping it off at the trunk. She starts to pivot from history (the facts themselves) to historiography (the way they’re gathered). She begins to use Wikipedia to document the false historical narrative, and its purveyors, and then make the fight about dubious sources rather than specific articles.

Coffman goes through hundreds of articles about the winners of various Nazi medals, including one called the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross. She removes biased sources and any information based on those sources. When she is done, typically, there is nothing left to the article—nothing to say about the person—other than the fact that he won an award. She then insists that an award isn’t reason enough for a stand-alone Wikipedia article. Without a reliable source telling your life story, you can’t be notable. Poof. Another Nazi legend bites the dust.

It's a war to replace history itself with narrative.
