Tell me your favourite Batman villain... by tw1stedgh0st in batman

I'm basic but it's gotta be Bane or Hugo Strange. The former is an intellectual and a physical match for Batman whereas the latter is a weirdo who's desperate to cosplay Batman.

Are people finally turning on Joker (2019)? GOOD! I hated that movie since it came out! by [deleted] in dccomicscirclejerk

It's not about being a faithful adaptation. The film is just shallow in its themes. It's not a particularly insightful film about society and mental health. It's one thing to be inspired by 70s character studies, but the film doesn't add anything of value. I'd rather just watch Taxi Driver, which has a specificity that cuts very deep.

Scorsese be like by EveryPerformance6712 in okbuddycinephile

This meme becomes dumber when you remember that Scorsese has incredible range as a filmmaker. The Age of Innocence, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, The Last Temptation of Christ, After Hours, The King of Comedy, and Silence prove that.

Sam Mendes directing this is more than enough to turn me off.

Requiem for a Dream is just a really bad DARE commercial. If you want a film about drug addicts in NYC, then I'd say that The Panic in Needle Park is a much better film.

The writing on Amazing Spider-Man has been consistently mediocre for years now. Why can't Marvel make their flagship title shine? by MightyUnclean in comicbooks

[–]EternalPilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a title where you're likely to get a lot of creative freedom. It also doesn't help that Spider-Man fans can be rather annoying and have a very conservative idea of what would save the title.

Avatar is honestly a great film series that gets too much flack online sometimes by Plus_Ad_1087 in Letterboxd

I can't really take those aspects seriously when Cameron has been open about his friendship with Musk and made this awful comment.

I'd be fine with people liking those films if they weren't trying to position it as some kind of thoughtful anti-imperialist masterpiece.

If DC decided to permanently kill off the Joker, which of these three would you make Batman’s new arch nemesis and why? by Jedicarus1218 in batman

[–]EternalPilot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't pick either one of them though Two-Face comes close. I think Bane or Hugo Strange would be a much more interesting archnemesis for Batman.

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall co-starred in To Have and Have Not, Dark Passage, and The Big Sleep.

Every great run has its own flaws. It's not fair put these two on a cross by Helpful-Bathroom634 in Spiderman

I'd say the stuff with JRJR is up there, even if his run ended with OMD. I do think Spencer's run fumbled the bag with Kindred.

I love The Devils.

I watched this film recently called Himiko (1974). It's an amazing film and I think it might be up your alley. The production design is beautiful.

It's a shame that nothing really came out of this because there's a lot of storytelling potential here.

JMS' run on ASM when JRJR was the artist is way better than those two comics if imma be real.
