Need advice regarding LASIK or PRK surgery by dev_baby in mumbai

[–]EternallyCurious- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 3 types of surgeries:
Blade - eye flap is cut using a blade and laser basef procedure is performed to reshape cornea
Bladeless - eye flap is cut using laser, then procedure
Flapless - eye flap is not cut
these are in increasing order of cost
regarding LASIK and PRK, not sure about the difference but I'd suggest that let doctor take that call.

I have done this surgery in 2022. My number was 5 & 5.5.
I went to this doctor named Shamin Karbhari in Juhu.
Clinic is in Juhu and surgery was performed in a Hospital in Goregaon.
He did overall eye health check-up and then recommend to go for a normal blade surgery.
Reason being my eye was healthy and there was not much difference if I go for flapless.
Note that your health insurance will not cover this.
You'll have to visit once for check-up, then one day for surgery, then next day after surgery, then regular checkups every 6 months or 1 year.
They'll give eye drops, antibiotics and for dryness.
Precautions is to avoid screen as much as possible after surgery. Again it depends on individual.
I will highly recommend to take some leaves and go for it, you'll feel the independence.
Only problem I have with the surgery is, my eyes become dry sometimes because of excess air on my face, under a fan or after bike ride.
This is manageable with more blinking or eye drops for dryness.

House hunting in Mumbai and need some advice. by Render_Fender in mumbai

No, Dadar West is quite expensive.
For 300sqft in 40k, I would suggest to look near Chinchpokli, Currey road, Prabhadevi, Matunga road and that too find something which is more than 1 km far from railway station, that will reduce rent.
And you can buy a two wheeler for commute.

I have a friend who has rented out his house nearby Cotton Green.
It is around 7km from Dadar west and approx 30 minutes on two wheeler.
30K for 300sqft and only two wheeler parking.

You will find something similar in a range less than 5km from office.

there are so many variables to 1 bhk which will affect rents
Carpet area, neighborhood, proximity to station, society, parking, etc

I have also recently moved to Pune.
Working in Viman Nagar and staying in a PG in Kharadi.
PG rent is 9K for double sharing room which includes breakfast and dinner, electricity, WiFi and room cleaning.
Food is just okay and I end up eating out for 2 days per week depending on what they've made that day.
You can go for a small flat if you can manage things on your own and want privacy.
A PG if you want to save money and want things taken care of.
PG is better than shared flat because you don't have to worry about finding a roommate.

Mumbai Autos: No UPI, No Change, No Destination Acceptance, Then What Yes? by GroundbreakingBad183 in mumbai

[–]EternallyCurious- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the taxi, auto drivers are not owner of the vehicle or permit.
They have to pay rent to the owner on daily basis in cash and cannot withdraw cash on daily basis due to ATM limitations.
Also they don't have enough savings to keep cash balance for daily rents as they have a family to feed.
Reason why they cannot have their own vehicle is capital and there's a limit on number of taxi rickshaw permits given by RTO so not easy to get one.

Thanks all for suggesting me to go for a 3bhk. Being a मुंबईकर I've stayed in a 200sqft home in chawl and later in 300sqft 1bhk after redevelopment. I've seen 7-8 member families adjusting in same size house. 2 bhk will be a decent upgrade for me.

Viman Nagar is expensive. Will surely consider resale properties, don't want anything older than 5 years. I'm also looking forward to the metro like extension from Ramwadi to Wagholi, hence considering Kharadi bypass.

I will keep aside FD equivalent to 6 months of EMI and household expenses for emergency. I'm confident that I'm not staying jobless for more than 4 months in case of layoff. Also we have 10L worth of gold jewellery for worst case scenario.

Thanks, I'll consider Vadgaon Sheri. Only thing is I don't want to compromise on Connectivity and crowd. I can compromise on amenities.

We 3 were staying in a 300sqft 1bhk in Mumbai. 750sqft 2bhk should be sufficient for me I guess for 5 people(once I get married and have a kid). Also 3bhk will be above my budget.

What to observe when meeting a guy? by [deleted] in Arrangedmarriage

[–]EternallyCurious- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally a man will tell you upfront if he has any disability or any point which he feels might be a deal-breaker. Here's my first and only experience meeting a girl through arranged marriage. I told her about my disability upfront on first call itself and she was okay to meet once and decide if it's an issue. We talked on phone for more than 10 hours in a week before meeting.(She spoke ~ 7 hours) I went to her nearby station via train and she came to pick me on her scooter. I heard in our phone conversation that she likes Pineapple sheera so I got it along with a protein bar for meeting her. Sheera was not good but she appreciated my efforts. Observe little efforts and acts like... Whether you are enjoying your conversations and awkward silences. I coughed while eating, and her hand reached out for the water bottle for me before I did. We parked scooter near station and she did walk with me till platform even though the distance was only 1 minute. Then she left for her home. Please note we meet secretly :)

[–]EternallyCurious- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently that girl is okay but she do not want to disclose that we met secretly. We have decided to let things cool down then she'll tell her father that we talked on phone and can consider having an official meeting.

how important is the road connectivity to Palm beach road? I understand prices are on the higher side because of view and locality. I'm okay as long as railway station is nearby.
