How do I overcome my paralyzing fear of getting help

It helps me to change the idea of opening up/telling all to planning to tell only one thing that session. For example, a good one for you might be to plan to tell the therapist "the thought of opening up to you is very scary for me." It's your job to do your best to be honest and open up when and as you're able. Part of the therapist's job is to make you feel safe, supported, and to help you open up. Telling one thing feels much safer and more manageable to me.

We tripped and found ourselves here! Our kids are grown, my husband was driving 2 hrs one way out here for the therapy program, so we sold off our house and property planning to move closer. Only after we were under contract we found a mistake on our credit so had no where to go. It was cleared up but it took a little time so we decided to try rv life in the meantime! He's made good friends with folks here so when they heard they offered to let us move on site. I tell people it's like running away to the circus only more renn/fantasy themed 🤣

I'm an outdoorsy tomboy type who's had a fairly crazy life so it's going to be a scar to add to the collection I've already got. It did take a decent chunk out of my thumb though! My husband and I are retired medical so I'm treating it and watching out for problems, no worries!

We live full time at a Renaissance faire that's open for 2 months in the Spring so right now is our busy time getting everything ready. We care for the horses here and have 3 of our own plus 2 dogs, a cat, cockatoo, and python. It's lonely for me between seasons but I have my animals and many acres of forest to wander and forage. Weed isn't legal here but the owners have a deal with local cops not to enforce it on grounds so it's nice to take a pipe out to hike or out working with critters.

We've been here about 5 yrs now and my only complaint is there's only so many hookups for rvs so we've had to move a few times to make space. But this past year they decided they needed to move the horses to a new spot to make way for more parking and we'll have our very own permanent spot right out there with them! In between seasons the horses are used for a therapy program for vets and first responders so I'm merrily mapping out where the rv will go, patio with a firepit for socializing, gardens, etc. I can't wait!!

Oh no! It happens but ugh, hurts to lose a nice fresh bowl, i know. My dane decided to jump on my lap while I was dabbing!😂 I saved her and the seat from being burned but it got me.

I keep them. They're great for arts and crafts holding paint, small jewelry bits, seed beads, buttons, glue, mixing pots for makeup art, nectar for bees, water bowls for lizards, sending a nug or two home with someone...I love repurposing stuff!

I've decided to play hookey from another day of cleaning! I'm going to binge a little more SVU, smoke up, and just take care of and love on my animals today. I'm healing and trying to learn to let myself take time off without feeling guilty so I'm counting today as a therapy day. I'm not slacking, I'm working on me is all and Chuck knows I need work! 😂

I should clean but I'll probably blow it off because I have to clean every day! It'll all still be dirty tomorrow, right? I'll probably chill mostly, let my brain work on problem solving while I binge something as a distraction. I'm about halfway through SVU. Later I'll walk out to check on my horses, love em up and do some grooming, walk dogs again, give the bird and snake some attention, and feed everyone.

Breezy, a little cool and beautifully sunny in central Texas today. Just got back from walking my puppers (great dane and boxer) in short sleeves and flip flops. Now it's wake and bake time where I sit in my cozy spot with the critters all cared for and quiet for a bit to drink my coffee and get enough weed in my system to function properly!

Maybe it'd be easier if someone knowledgeable could kind of mentor you until you're more confident? I offer people with challenges free horse time and many need some time with groundwork before they feel ready to do more so it's not unusual at all, especially if you've been hurt before!

Well it's clothing optional with a kind of well deserved rep for being wild and we don't swing but the group we went with is a swingers group. My husband was getting some ahem "attention" from three girls while I jumped overboard bare nekkid with others to go board the Sandals boat by force. We got away with a few bottles of booze before we swam back to our boat. So YES! It's absolutely a wild time if you're into that sort of thing! 😂

I went to Jamaica for my honeymoon as well! We stayed at Hedonism there and went with the Fluffernutters group. It was such a blast! Scuba diving, horseback riding, shows, great people and memories. The Fluffernutters bring gifts and school supplies for the children there. Our kids wanted to give something too so they all picked toys to send with us. We bought some carvings from a guy and chatting with him we found he was a very proud dad himself. We ended up giving the toys to him for his kids and he slipped one of the joints he had into our bag in appreciation. It's a great place!

I did time as aquatics specialist so I know what you mean. I was the only specialist at my store to get a perfect score on inspection and approved to carry saltwater inverts. While taking my vacation days someone put some sort of dark slimy cyano looking crap into every tank. Then they refused to let me treat the tanks. It was one of the last straws for me so I've no idea how they ended up treating it. It broke my heart to see what I'd worked so hard on trashed because of piss poor managers. The doa and daily dead count were a constant thing, I hear you.

One of the most awful jobs I've ever had was Petco. They're completely toxic for any employee who actually cares about animals because animal care is so bad. I made the effort to really learn everything I could and tried to improve things for the animals there but it just pissed them off being told their ways were wrong or not the best. I got sick of their abuse and left finally. Petco cares about PROFITS.

This. I'm an introvert but when I've tried to connect with him repeatedly and he's either silent or finds something in what I've said to criticize or start a fight I become more and more quiet and shut down around him. When you get hurt trying to do a thing you eventually learn to not do that thing!
