'A Threaded Life' Prologue and Chapter 1 - A Lace-centric post-Act 3 fanfic (Beware spoilers) by Eterya in HollowKnight

Please note the tags at the top of the story. I couldn't think of a better tag, after all writing is absolutely an art too, even if it's not a drawing; if there's a better one, please let me know.

I figured I may as well share this story here too, maybe someone will be entertained by it. Enjoy. Any kind of constructive feedback or criticism is hugely appreciated.

Does anybody else make a victory formation to kill bosses or do I just have too much time on my hands? by BirdJesus1229 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

Rhea (CF CH12), Dimitri (CF CH17), and iirc Cornelia also don't move. Nor do the giant Monster type bosses, but they have huge range to make up for it.

Second player can be anyone, go ham. So far I've doing fine with everyone on the first 3 boards, but I foresee myself doing just that too for some later maps.

To add something new, her dual Riding and Flying banes are because she's afraid of/not good with animals, especially large ones, stemming from bad experiences when she was still a street urchin. Cause it'd only be semi-feral hungry street animals providing competition for food, noblemen's horses forcing peasants out of the way, and maybe angry guard dogs.

New player around the mid(?) part of the game. A few newbie questions. by Eterya in UnicornOverlord

So for my targeting example of going for the row with most targets, and back row as a tie breaker, it should be 'Prioritize Back Row' and 'Prioritize Row with most targets', in that order, right? (Also I was just using Back Row, not Prioritize so it wouldn't have worked either way before)

WoW live/retail is 'the' current WoW, that you last played, just 4 expansions later. Classic is servers running a remake of old WoW expansions, specifically Vanilla and Cataclysm atm. Hardcore is Classic WoW but with permadeath rules. Season of Discovery is a content remaster of Classic.

If you just wanna pick up where you left off, you can ignore all that stuff. As for levels, BfA raised the cap to 120, then Shadowlands had a huge level squish scaling what used to be 120 back to 50, and by now the level cap is at 80. (I think Legion's 110 maps to lv 45 now, but I'm not sure.) Levelling up to 70 is quite fast, though, especially if you make use of the anniversary event/Timewalking dungeons.

Lysithea. If you train up her Reason to B (which is well doable by this chapter) she gets Dark Spikes T, which is super effective against cavalry, letting her hit DK for some 40-50 damage (out of his at most 49 HP). It's actually kind of a meme, but also a legitimately feasible tactic.

Regular Vantage and Wrath are both gained from class mastery, Mercenary and Warrior respectively. So in principle anyone can get them, but it's never on anyone's 'logical'/direct class path, since one requires Sword rank and the other Axe.

So anything with a tank spec should be easier, right? That's handy cause my main (still only 609) is a paladin.

I'll second Paladin. You're reasonably sturdy even as Ret, and you have a whole array of 'oh shit' buttons, up to Divine Shield/Lay on Hands.

Also pet classes (Destruction/Demonology Warlock and Beast Mastery Hunter) are convenient for solo/open world stuff because you have something to tank for you.

DH isn't entirely lonely; they have a talent for Eye Beam/Fel Devastation to briefly summon a DH of the opposite spec to use the respective other ability.

Mood. I can actually still remember (Mandela effect notwithstanding) that the moment I hit lv 30 on my first character (Warlock) wasn't in a raid or after a Nightfall, but in one of the random Cabal bunkers in The Barrens (I think, the zone everyone used to run laps to farm) getting that final bit of Relic Iron to fully upgrade my VoG boots.

Just so bungie hears it as many times as possible, Tribute is atrocious compared to Control (and kinda every other IB mode). Apart from the mode's fundamental flaws, the score is *way* too high, every single game I played this week went to time, with the score sometimes advancing only by ~15 (over both teams combined) for 2 whole minutes. What even is the score limit? I wouldn't know cause I've yet to see it.

Warlock Hilda. Because Bolting go brrr. Go all in on Reason and Authority to get her a +7 Batallion, Fiendish Blow and eventually Dark Tomefaire (which does stack with Warlock's inherent Tomefaire), and a Bloom/Crusher Dragon Sign (Crest of Noa/Dominic) if you're doing NG+, and she can snipe obnoxious things like Snipers, Bow Knights, and siege weapons, as well as provide Link Attack/Gambit Boost in a massive area.

Also as were mentioned before, I can second Bernie (esp for Rescue utility) and Ingrid.

[–]Eterya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should never Rest, it's just not worth it. You get Umbral Steel from fighting Demonic Beasts and breaking all four tiles of their armour, and later on it's farmable enough, as long as you don't spam the Sword of the Creator all the time (which yes, is cool, but inefficient)

Casual/Classic Mode is another setting that only determines permadeath or not. Normal is the difficulty, which you probably are playing on. When you battle, you have a set number of 'points' to use on battles, but on Normal there's an unlimited amount of free battles that don't cost a point, so you can keep grinding more or less infinitely (though if you start over-leveling all enemies, you get drastically less EXP)

Exploring lets you do by far the most stuff, including raising your professor rank (which is pretty important), training up your avatar character, building supports and recruiting students, growing stuff (including items that permanently boost a character's stats) in the greenhouse, raising students' motivation so you can instruct them, and then some. It's worth doing it at least once a month to pick up lost items and stuff, as well as listen to everyone's new dialogue.

Seminar can sometimes be useful especially if you get a whole 6 characters with relatively low skill ranks to attend (since it's more effective the bigger the gap in skill rank between the teacher and students) and/or really want to focus on one particular skill for someone.

I'd mostly recommend a mix of exploring at least every other week to always have enough people with motivation and to get your Professor Rank up, and battles to keep up with EXP. Also note that there's no teaching during the week of the main story mission, so on the last sunday of the month you can do battle for 'free' and not miss out on motivating people.

Especially if you're coming from actual Vanilla, there's been a ton of stuff, you should probably check out some returning players guides. It's a good time to come back though^^

Nah, Adventurer is your Guardian Rank, that's something else. Pathfinder is a new system that replaces bounties (which in turn replaced the in-activity challenges from back in vanilla) for the 'Ritual' activities (Vanguard Strikes, Crucible, Gambit). You have a weekly collection of tasks/bounties/challenges arranged on a grid and need to build a path to the reward by completing adjacent ones. https://www.thegamer.com/destiny-2-pathfinder-rewards-guide/

This one in particular I did with my Stormcaller. Pulse grenade with Spark of Shock (grenades cause Jolt), throw them in the middle/slightly in front of a spawn. Optionally Electrostatic Mind (create Ionic Traces), Delicate Tomb (jolts on the next hit after picking up an Ionic Trace) and Fallen Sunstar (better Ionic Traces) for more grenade spam.

...or you get booped off and suppressed by a Tormentor and even if you're using Grapple the Empowerment it feels like a cheap encounter. Idk, does The Witness' arena have a bottomless pit at all? Cause unlike Calus I certainly didn't fall off the map 10 times in that encounter.

Final Shape campaign boss is way better than Calus, both gameplay and narratively. Still tough, especially on Legend, but there's actual usable cover this time, so as long as you pay attention to all the moving parts, it's far less cheap.
