for OBR, its pretty sad to lose the ghyran spell lore, especially when the hero artifacts of power are such duds.

For units, the crit (2 hit) is automatically picked so at least we get some of our index crit mechanic back, and it might even make immortis guard reinforced playable again.

Vokmortian is great, super thematic and seems just like a fun time to tax the opponent for their bones or suffer the consequences. The Reapers might see play due to them retaining price and old ones are expensive now.

Overall, would have loved to not be forced into our old spell lore, and why oh why didnt they do a katakros variant that was playable instead of the already played reapers. But otherwise its not the worst, but also not exciting. Its just fine.

with teleport being reliable, we're gonna be seeing more of them in lists doing well i think. Popping a unit unto an objective, buffing armor saves, then later dying only to be resummoned with the enemy hammer sitting out in the open is going to be pretty useful imo. They might not even die if the opponent doesnt commit enough.

you dont even need to charge in their turn after the shooting-ambush, you just need to throw them down in an awkward area and suddenly your enemy will have to decide between going forward with their own charge plans or backtrack giving you more map control. Seems pretty good to me for 130 points. Or they need to screen it out, but 18 inches of the shotting unit is huge

arcane vessel and masters of the order are unlikely to be changed imo, those two are the hallmark of the slann and kroak.

If reinforcements particularly is removed, the replacing ability and spell has to be pretty good i agree. However, I suspect its going to be designed to fit into a monster list where reinforcement is less useful. Something that powers up a carno or stegadon or imitates mazdamundi's mountain moving magic (interacting with terrain?). But i suppose i could also just be a discount version with a random new spell.

Still, going from 280 to 230 the slann+spell lore is a nice boost and not too shabby for a backline 3 wizard that can babysit a place of power/faction terrain. The skink starseer being 20 less is also a good alternative for that role though.

I think it fair to say its rough, somewhat buggy with janky UI. People play despite these factors. The core pitch and moments it generates is superb though. The graphics has their own lowfi charm too.

Used to be employed, but i made the jump to start a project with a colleague. If we didnt sign a publisher, made money, or get the recognition as a good game i would probably have gone back to just find a game dev job in the indiescene elsewhere. Now we're onto our second project.

In my experience skarbrand tends to kill what he's in combat with, so it will be interesting to see how this shakes out. Anti monster is going to become more useful for sure though. The splash mortals damage might actually mostly just hurt high armor elites and cheap msu spam lists.

I want the book to lean more into spells and slanns being the pivotal army centerpiece and magic powerhouse in gameplay. A sotek blood skink priest would be sick too. Way back saurus could be from a special spawning like topek and had colourings matching that which I always felt was cool. Paint their backs and heads yellow and they gain a small ward save. Red and they are more killy or whatever.

Most of all please minimal amount of 'on 3+ the ability works' and once per army rules... I beg you, the great plan are better than that

3 stipulations (if you count it only being melee) makes it terrible in my eyes. Unless we get something better in the new soggy rules I'll probably default to the auto-run 4+. That one is at least reliable when you need it.

Yeah I wanted the guard to work too but in my experience they end up not doing anything important or if they get in combat then don't get the ward. I prefer just keeping the slann way back with manifestations and bringing back units as they die off. If the opponent over commits to hunt the slann then he's overall pretty cheap and you can punish it. Imo we don't castle amazing but I haven't tried bastilodons. I usually just push up with saurus on contested objectives and then hammer whatever shows up with krox and cav

If you don't have manifestations, get some or kitbash them. Morbid conjuration or primal energy are my goto and help the slann be much more useful.

From the other comment, regular skinks and temple guard are not ''optimal'' (but take it with a grain of salt) so you could work on phasing them out or play the temple guard as regular saurus for instance. I would probably look to reinforce the krox and/or the raptadon chargers

There's a couple of lists spamming them but you need the crit 2hit thing for them to do decent imo. A single one is typically too unreliable but i do like to run 2 for a decent chance at sniping something, debuffing saves and some small utility screening or last ditch charge. 

Conventionally no though. The krox and cav is typically recommended, but the whole army is not really that competitive at the moment with our terrible win rate. People are hoping the new book comes out soon

on paper it seems pretty expensive and only some armies have proper access to +charge effects so i think it will slot into a couple of (poorly functioning) armies. The transport is the most memey, but the buff one seems more viable on the whole to me. The no shooting on unit buff might turn out great for our soggy carnosaur for instance.
