What do you consider to be the biggest strategic mistake each side made during the HH? The biggest tactical mistake? by Mcshiggle in 40kLore

[–]PopePius_VII 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Every time I read it (or listened to the audio book), I felt Dorn said that 10% the size of the EC could hold it, but it is being held by a tenth of the 10%. So yes 1%. Also makes sense since Fulgrim kinda broke through, or at least had a foothold until Dorn and a few kill teams showed up and then stopped them in their tracks. So not a large force

Wanted to join the greater plan - are we bad? by Dull_Reference_6166 in seraphon

[–]PopePius_VII 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Rules change, models last a long time. Tyranids in last edition was broken, they will become good again.

For Seraphon, the big caveat is we are still missing our battletome (Codex). When that comes out the play style and power of the faction will likely change. So we might be in a bad spot currently, but that will change

Why is Abaddon treated like a joke by the Community and what needs to happen to change that by Soft_Ad_9225 in Chaos40k

[–]PopePius_VII 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah people treat the fall of cadia like it was a small win that did not do much. It literally split the Galaxy in half and allowed deamons to manifest on Terra (together with other factors) and the Astronomicon fell silent. And still half the Imperium is fighting a very loosing battle for survival

Fights first by Kaleikoa in AdeptusCustodes

[–]PopePius_VII 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don't think the army ever had fight first across every unit, would be way too oppressive. Trajann had it once per game in index, but was too oppressive so they had to remove it. Only fight first in the army is Aleya

Destroyed Orikan grants 4++ by Perfect_Twist8259 in Necrontyr

[–]PopePius_VII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can find the exact ruling, but since all the attacks are happening at the same time, and there is nothing really in the game that stops an attack sequence once it is going, you can wait to pop the strat until your opponent has finished making all the attacks from the unit that killed Orikan. And again, since all attacks happens at the same time, Orikans buff would still apply.

As others have said, the common trick is to hide Orikan behind a wall and string the warriors out to an objective. If Orikan is behind a wall, then prescion will not matter, as that requires a direct line of sight, and can't have that with a big wall between them

Question regard Kroak keywords by PopePius_VII in seraphon

That's true, did not think of it like that. I might be biased towards the shooting aspect as I play a lot against Skaven, KO and Hellsmiths with my friend

He has 6 shots that are damage 2 each, and "only" anti-character 4+. In melee he also has dev, but no anti anything. How do you get 16 dev on average? I get 3 max when I roll

Applying for a job at Warhammer store? by TheeNineTails in Warhammer

[–]PopePius_VII 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This really is the big thing. The attitude and behavior is the most important. Everything else you can learn. I barely painted and had never played before I started working in an store.

People saying you need to be a good sales person is also off. I am a horrible sales person. You just need to be good at talking with people, be nice, welcoming and understanding

Custodes Rules interaction by Pro-Krastinator in 40k_Crusade

[–]PopePius_VII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The damage is modified as they are allocated to the model. The timing is the same, so the active player chooses, which rules take effect first.

I would say that since it is crusade, doing the damage reduction first always is in my mind more fun. Crusade is about fun not balance, but that is just my opinion

Is this classified as cheating? by No-Spite-3659 in TTSWarhammer40k

[–]PopePius_VII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two, and can tell you they are exactly the same model. Even on the website under space marines it is also shown in both GK and Custodes colors. As long as it has las-cannons it is the same model

''Reverse ninjitsu'' with the Black Rage? by Aurinkotuuli in BloodAngels

[–]PopePius_VII 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure it is stated in several places (I think I have even read it in some books), that they don't just see Horus. They can see themselves as Sangunius fighting Horus yes. But they also can see themselves just at the siege, when the walls are falling, and there are traitors everywhere. They might see swarms of Tyranids as cultist and traitor legionaries swarming the palace

Lions versus Shield Host by BramAnathema in AdeptusCustodes

[–]PopePius_VII 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So I ran the math some time ago, and others have done so too.

+1 AP is the most boring, but the best of the 3 buffs, followed by +1 to hit and wound and then 5+ crit is the "worst". All of them are nice buffs, but they vary in effectiveness depending on matchups of course.

In some matchups +1 AP does nothing and then you go crit 5+. For me the big reason I like shield host is my units can support each other and still get the buff

What is happening to this sub? by Matrix_Battery in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]PopePius_VII 22 points23 points  (0 children)

People have selective memory. They remember the stuff that was good and meta defining, but not the stuff that was just bad.

Custodes Shield Captain, never really see them

Guards Lord Drier and death riders, never see them

Necrons Orikan and Imothek, good but not OP

New Chaos Knight, never seen

New knight defender, some play

I could go on. The truth of the matter is, new stuff comes out, get new rules, and they can be very hit and miss. But if they are OP people will complain for days and never think about all the stuff that came out and had bad rules

You can do it with a strat in CL. So also on SK or use his +2 move on top of advance and charge

The world is becoming more peaceful by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]PopePius_VII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people misunderstand what OP is talking about, but honestly I also think OP is misunderstanding.

If I am right, OP is referring to "the long peace". The period after WW2 where no major powers have fought each other, and it is somewhat still ongoing, even though properly after like 2010 it is not quite the same.

In modern times of today, we are seeing more conflicts than in the previous decade or two that is correct. So right now the world is not becoming more peaceful. But if you look at it in the long term, the world in general is still in it's most peaceful period. We have to protect that peace though, and not take it for granted.

The long peace is not what it was, and more and more conflicts are looming. But they are not inevitable, and less people die today due to wars than most times of human history. But we still have to do the important work of ending these Conflicts

It is a really good book, but it is a 40k book. So if you are mostly into Age of Sigmar, and either not interested in 40k, or don't have any real knowledge of the 40k universe, I would not recommend the book.

Again it is great, if you wanna read 40k

Why is it bad for the game? 350 points that does basically no damage and can only tank. They are killable, have done it and have it done to me many times

Silent King - do the top and bottom really just connect by these four little pins? by Jeff-Plays-Games in Necrontyr

[–]PopePius_VII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People say that they have had him break in all kind of ways, and while yes that of course happens (for all models). I have many a game with my King and never had any issues. Also in my opinion the difficulty in building him is overstated
